I've been trying to make the RO Monk for a long time (because they're awesome); It finally clicked when I found the Hood. Certain items would look more technically accurate (like Inari's beads flame-coat, evil ki, and light spirit), but they don't look as cool, they cancel out other items I'm wearing, and sometimes they still don't look accurate afterwards, hence defeating the purpose.

The colors doesn't match with them from the original,
but I know it's difficult to find matching clothes for cosplay avis here.
But it doesn't really look like a monk....
