Manfred von Richthofen, or the Red Baron, was feared by all pilots in WWI. Amazingly, with only four weeks of flight training, this pilot was an ace in the skies numbering over 80 confirmed air victories.
There is still much controversy over who really killed this flying ace, but rumors spread that he was shot by a rifle and not out of the sky. Ironic isn't it?
