• Prologue
I gently stroke the sleeping child’s rosy red cheek. Lifting my hand I place it by my side and watch her sleep. The uninterrupted pattern of her breathing is lulling me. Closing my eyes I listen until I feel the force of the bleak grayness calling me back.
My name is Jenny Wright, im 15, im dead, and you have picked up my story.
I don’t blame you if reading this first part has sent you into a comatose shock furthermore if you drop this book and never again pick it up I don’t blame you. I can see how you might be taken aback, im mean a 15 year old. There not supposed to die well, that’s mainly the case except with murder of coarse.

    Grayness
I return to the dull grayness of my crypt above the world and all its inhabitants. Looking down I can see whomever I want. My two year old sister, my saddened friends, my anxious parents, and my killer. I watch him walk around acting as if nothing has ever happened. I want to hurt him, kill him, cause him as much pain as I had to suffer, but I am powerless. They still haven’t found my body. He made sure that hopefully I wouldn’t be found. Trash bag after trash bad he wound it tight around my corpse. Not even considering that what he was doing might be wrong. I was just an experiment. Stuffing me into a deep grave in the middle of the woods, he smiles triumphant then he begins to bury me. I had already gone from my body by then but it still startled me to watch my now empty shell be smothered in dirt.
I begin to walk into the fog. I’ve found that it stretches on forever. I feel something calling me, pulling me, wishing for me to find it, but I never do. Finding it strange that im only the person here, I wonder if this is my heaven. Did I do something so wrong in my short life to condemn myself to this bleak, gray barren place?

    Before Seeing
I saw my killer at a school function nevertheless I thought nothing of it. I just walked by him laughing at the joke Arianna had just said. Our small group of misfits had met in the sixth grade and had stuck together ever since. First there was seemingly dark Arianna. Tallest of our group, she used sarcasm like a blade. Then there was Reggie. The bad a** twirler, who actually veered close to the world of popularity but chose to stick with us. Then there was Dawn. Shortest with the photographic memory that drove me up the flipping wall. Then there was Abby. Goth girl of the group. Decked out in black every day she was a terror to the outsiders who considered her suicidal. Then there was me, Jenny. Don’t know what I really was. The closet poet maybe, but that doesn’t really matter now does it. The day I decided to walk home was beautiful. We had amazing warm weather for the middle of winter, so I could finally shed my disheveled coat. Smiling I told my friend good-bye and started on the mile walk home from my school. I knew my parents would scold me for walking alone, but they would never know. I thought I would walk to my house carefree and alone but I was wrong.

    Police
Following the police its raining and it goes right through me. I watch them running along with there dogs. Poor dogs. They hope to find something, eager to please there master, but im afraid its in vain. I stand beside my crude grave watching them around me. One barks and sits down head towards the ground. Have they found something? I come over with the police man. He puts gloves on his large hands then very gracefully reaches down and picks something up. It’s my silver necklace smeared with blood. I watch as he shields it from the rain, yelling at the others. This place is now a crime scene.
The tape stretches around a large perimeter, as they dig deeper and deeper. They get closer and closer to my remains.

    Past Life
I walked carefree. Ignoring the occasional car on the desolate road I embraced the sunshine on my arms and smiled happily. I came to the stretch of road where there was nothing in sight and walked into the trees. I went to my sanctuary as I called it. It was just an open field but I could come here to think alone without any distractions or interruptions. I had set my stuff down and was laying on the ground eyes shut when something was suddenly on top of me. It was the guy I had looked at from school. I screamed and got up to run. He caught me laughing. I fought and fought but his grip was strong. Tying my hands behind my back with silvery duck tape, the last thing I remember was his grin and something covering my mouth burning as I tried not to inhale.
