• wolves in the woods. chapter 4

Class, just like the rest, was boring. Again, nothing is worse than being stuck inside. I would rather be running in snow. And as everyone around here knows, Michigan winters are the absolute worst in our minds. But back to the fact that I am inside a classroom. I do not want to be in here, nor does anyone else. But oh well. I waited out the last 50 minutes of class, and endured my next two classes. Thank God that I have lunch before my fourth hour. I walked to the cafeteria and met Stephen in the back of the lunchline.
Stephen put his hands on my shoulders and asked, "Are you alright? You seem sort of out of it today." His voice coated with concern. "It's about the vamps isn't it?"
I nodded and sighed. I felt his hands fall away from my shoulders as the line lurched foreword and we made our way to the food. I picked up a piece of cheese pizza, an apple, a small bowl of baked zitti, and a poweraid. We paid for our lunches and sat at our usuall table next to the south window and started to eat. But as I ate the last bit of my pizza I smelled a faint berry scent and relized it was Sarah. My best friend since first grade, and also a vampire.
She sat down and Stephen said hi, then returned to his food, while Sarah and I talked. "So I bet you heard?" I asked her, already knowing the answer. She nodded and sighed. "I don't think it was anyone from here. I'm betting it was out of the city. I heard that the flint vamps have been getting restless." She said. I nodded in a agreement. I couldn't think of anyone in Bridgeport who would want to kill for the fun of it. And that's what it seemed like to everyone. There was no real patteren, and no big shots getting killed. At least the idiots know who to stay away from.
Sarah got up, bid Stephen and me a goodbye, and left. suddenly I wasn't so hungery. I felt a tap on my arm and looked up from my food. Again, stephen asked me if I was ok. I shrugged, then shook my head no. "I'm not sure." My head started to pound for no reason, and my vision swam. My stomach churned and lurched, and I had an urge to vomit. I picked up my tray of untouched food and ran to the garbage can, throwing the food away and ran outside the school with stephen hot on my trail.
He grabbed my arms and spun me to face him. "Alex what's wrong? What happened back there?" He asked, but I couldn't hear him. My thoughts were running wildly about the Flint vampires. Something in my mind unhinged and and my body felt weightless. Darkness surounded me as i heard Stephen's frantic pleas for me to wake up. But it too late. I was numb, couldn't talk, see, or think. All i could do was see vampires in my head, running after me, Stephen, Lizzie, and Megan.
