• Lily raised her head, huddled in the corner of her dark room, her knees close to her chest and face grim. In her hand was a locket, the only left that reminded her of when she was still in a REAL family, she gingerly opened the locket and instantly heard the haunting melody that came out, she looked at the picture of her dad and mom as the melody resounded across the room.

    'She walks to school with the lunch she packed
    Nobody knows what she's holding back;
    Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday,
    She hides the bruises with linen and lace
    Oh

    An alcoholic father...who beats her every night, a mother who treats her like she wasn't her child...things weren't always that way...she actually doesn't remember why it happened, but all she ever wanted was for her family would be mended again.

    The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
    It's hard to see the pain behind the mask;
    Bearing the burden of a secret storm,
    Sometimes she wishes she was never born;

    3 years...for three years these was what happened, no one to call to, because she was too afraid...afraid that she'd get killed, but wasn't this already killing her? Wasn't getting beated every night, those painful stinging words, that constant feeling of rejection and disdain?

    Through the wind and the rain,
    She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
    But her dreams give her wings and she flies to the place where she's loved.

    But even though things were like that, she really couldn't bring herself to not care anymore, she cared for herself, she cared for her father, she cared for her mother...no matter how much they struck her and spit out those words....those heart-tearing words...

    Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
    The neighbors hear but they turn out the lights;
    A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
    When morning comes it will be too late.

    "We don't love you, we don't even care!" screamed her mother, it cut deep, deep inside her already withering heart..but she knew, if she could just have faith...things could change..Lord, may it change.

    Through the wind and the rain,
    She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
    But her dreams give her wings and she flies to the place where she's loved.
