• The Assassination of King Llane
A long time ago, there was a major city named Stormwind far away in the Alterac Mountains. There lived the King of Stormwind, King Llane and his three loyal knights Acedan, Willis, and Toby. One day, a dark and shadowed figure named Glilth came to the castle requesting to see the King. Acedan, Willis, and Toby searched him and came up with nothing, no poison, knives, or other weapons. They allowed Glilth to pass and to see the King. The King came out of his room and requested to see Glilth alone. After much argument, the knights allowed them to be alone.
After about two hours, the knights began to worry. They knocked on the door. No answer. They knocked again. "King Llane, are you alright?" Still no answer. Cautiously, the knights opened the door to find the King alone on the ground collapsed with a blade on the nightstand. After closer inspection of both the blade and the King, it was concluded that the King had died not only by physical trauma, but by consumption of a lethal amount of poison.
The knights searched the room for a way out that the assassin could have used. After five hours with no success, the knights began to get angry. "The King is dead and the assassin escaped! We will be dead when the council finds out that we were on duty," said Acedan. "I don't want to die!" moaned Toby. Acedan then, walks over to the blade and picks it up. "Why couldn't we find you before?" Acedan, in his fit of rage, throws the knife across the room and into a wooden wall. Suddenly, the sound of scraping wood filled the room. The knights, curiously, look over to where Acedan had thrown the knife. Gone was the wall with the knife jutting out of it. Here was a dark and mysterious tunnel leading out of the castle. "The assassin must have used this secret passage to escape. I didn't even know this was here!" exclaimed Willis.
The knights enter, one by one, the secret passageway. They lit torches and proceeded deeper into the passage. The knights cautiously descended a steep hill and deeper into the dungeon. "Gah, why is it so cold?" complained Toby. "We must be below ground," said Willis. "Silence!" commanded Acedan. "Do you hear that?" A faint sound of someone talking is heard and the knights begin to follow the voice. The voice is of the assassin, Glilth. "We have found him! Charge!" said Willis as he began to charge. "No!" said Acedan with little time left to stop him. Willis charged but stopped a few feet from the assassin's door. The knights regrouped and slowly and secretly infiltrated the room. The knights then snuck up on Glilth, attacked and restrained him. Among his things they found a massive amount of gold and silver.
Glilth was taken out of his underground hideout to the council and was sentenced to death by hanging, drawing, and quartering. The King's murderer was brought to justice so that he may never harm anyone else ever again. The King's son, Varian Wrynn, succeeded his father as King of Stormwind. The gold and silver was then distributed throughout the Kingdom fairly and the poor became wealthy and the wealthy stayed wealthy.
