• Chapter 1: All you need is trust.
“Run, Yuma, run!” Derek hollered to Yuma who was running behind him. “I’m trying!” She yelled back. She came to a dead stop as the three men smiled and came closer to her with each step, she smiled back. The green crystal hanging from a gold chain around her neck lit up. Her brown loose braided hair stuck up as if she was hanging upside down. The glow of the crystal made her face look as if it were green. The green light blinded the three men and through them to the solid ground as Yuma’s feet touched the ground once again. “Come on!” Derek snapped back at her grabbing her arm and dragging her behind him. “This is pretty freaky, don’t you think?” she asked him, “Not as freaky as what I’m going to do to those guys if they lay a finger on you!” She smiled. To her Derek was the best older brother ever.
Two other men which looked like the other three blocked their way. Another snuck up on Yuma and grabbed her holding a small dagger to her throat. “Yuma! Let her go now!” She stood still knowing that her short lived life was at risk.
Derek gave her a strange look, which she knew meant “Trust me” She took those words to mind and stood there as quiet as a mouse. Derek punched one man in the face and kicked the other in the stomach. Well he did that Yuma elbowed the man holding the dagger to her neck in the stomach. Derek and Yuma linked hands and ran off.
“Listen Yuma, you need to run to Arrowhead without me! Take this cloak and run. If they see me without you they’ll have no clue where you are. I’ll meet you there, I promise.” She shook her head saying yes but knowing that wasn’t a promise. She couldn’t help knowing that her older brother would be killed like the rest of her family because of her. “Got it, Arrowhead, but what do I do with the crystal when I’m there?” He shook his head and replied, “A man named Dave will be waiting for you. He wears blue clothing and has green eyes and blond hair.”
She covered herself with the brown cloak which covered half her face. She hugged Derek harder than she ever had and ran off. Deep inside Derek knew he was not going to meet her there.
