• Chapter Eight:
We all stood in the hut, shocked and upset, but no one was as upset as Haven was. She was crying still as Toby and Tahlia got Haven to her feet and lead her out of the hut. Haven wanted to stay and try to find Mimiki, but she couldn’t even get up by herself. It was sad, I hope Mimiki is ok.
Haven sniffled, then stopped crying, “Ok,” she managed to choke out, “we need to get my dad. He may not have any powers, but he can help us.”
“Too much has happened,” Marlo muttered, “first, Johnny went missing, then we find Tahlia, then the five of us find out we’re the chosen ones, then Haven finds us, then Shay passes out, now Mimiki’s gone.”
Sami patted Marlo’s back, “It’ll be ok, and don’t forget. Johnny’s not even our brother, I think.” Marlo glared at her. Sami stepped away from her.
“No matter what, what Mimiki said about Johnny can’t be true,” Marlo said stubbornly, “so I won’t believe it.”
Haven glared at her, “Mom wouldn’t have lied to you,” she hissed, “She’s trying to help you, to protect you!”
“Johnny’s been my brother for thirteen years, and now I’m told that he’s not, I think I have the right to be surprised!” Marlo snapped at Haven.
Sami cut in, “He was my brother too, but I believe what Mimiki said.”
“That’s because you’re an idiot,” Marlo sneered, “you’d believe anything, you stupid moron.” Everyone stared at Marlo in surprised.
“Marlo,” I said, “she’s your sister. How could you say that?”
Marlo glared at me, “Johnny’s your best friend. How could you say that he’s an evil prince?”
She stormed off from everyone, everyone but Sami looked as she left.
“Sami,” Tahlia said, “don’t listen to her, you’re not stupid. Marlo’s just mad.”
Sami shook her head, “It’s not that, when I looked at her hand, her mark, it was gone. I don’t think that’s good.”
Everyone gasped. Haven got up to her feet, sighing.
Haven looked down, “This is why we need to find my dad, then my mom. They can tell us what Marlo’s mark disappearing means. But I think it means that she can’t accept her powers, which can mean a lot of things. But we can worry about her later, my mom could be hurt.”
Haven was right, Marlo we can wait till later to worry about, right now Mimiki’s in trouble. And if we can find her, and Haven’s dad, they can tell us what’s wrong with Marlo.
We began walking back to the house, that’s where Haven’s dad is, that what she said. He spent a lot of his time in the basement, working on spells and potions for Haven and Mimiki to try out and test. We reached the house, and Haven began laughing. She couldn’t stop; she even had to put her hand on the doorway to keep her balance.
“I totally forgot, my God I’m so dumb.” Haven giggled, “Mom’s fine. Dad was working on a teleportation spell, and while in the hut, it must have taken course. She’s probably in the basement.”
I looked at her funny, sighing in relief, “That still doesn’t explain her vision. We can ask her when we find her.”
“Let’s be glad she’s ok, though,” Toby said, trying to make things positive. I’m glad he’s starting to cheer up.
Everyone nodded and went into the house, following Haven. She would lead us to the basement, her dad, and hopefully Mimiki. I got a better look of the house. It was old, the walls covered in paintings, wooden floors, and barely any lighting. It looked like it had history.
Haven stopped, “Here’s the steps,” we looked down at a long stone stairway, “it’ll lead to the basement. Come on.” She swiftly walked down the steps, we followed.
The basement looked like the Potions classroom from Harry Potter. Leather bound books were everywhere. There were a few old wood tables, at least seven. The largest table looked like a desk; I saw a large bottle of black ink and a few quail feather pen like things that people from the 1700’s. Stacks of paper scattered across the desk, and then realize that there was a guy sitting there. I couldn’t see his face, he was looking down. All I could see was his hair, and it was platinum blonde, like Draco Malfoy’s hair, wow, another Harry Potter comparison. Well, when I think of magic, that’s what first comes to my head.
“Dad,” Haven said, and the man looked up.
He smiled, “Oh, Haven, there you are.” He looked at Tahlia, Toby, Sami, and me, “Are these the chosen ones?”
Haven nodded, “Is Mom here? We were in the hut, and she disappeared. I know you’ve been testing out that teleportation charm you’ve been working on.”
Haven’s dad raised his hands like he was being arrested, “You caught me,” he chuckled, “but she went upstairs to use the washroom.” He took another look at us, “I’m Harris by the way. And, I thought that there was suppose to be five of you?”
Haven stared at her dad wide eyed, “Dad!” she yelped, gritting her teeth, “the fifth chosen one isn’t here. She ran off.”
Harris’s smile faded, “Haven, you know that’s not good.”
“Especially if her mark’s gone,” Sami blurted out. Harris got up from the desk and ran to Sami, grabbing her face.
He shook Sami’s head, “Did you just say what I thought you said? Did you just say that the fifth chosen one lost her mark?” Sami nodded; Harris let her go and turned to me, “Which element was this girl?”
I gulped, “She had earth. What does her mark going away mean? Is she still a chosen one?” I was nervous; Marlo was in serious stuff if this Harris guy is worried.
“I personally don’t know, but I bet it’s bad,” Harris shuffled through some papers, “If we asked Mimiki, she’ll tell us. Sweetie! Get down here!”
Two seconds later, purple smoke appeared; so did Mimiki. Everyone but Harris and Haven screamed or freaked out, I mean, it’s not every day when someone pops up through purple smoke, except in movies. Lately, everything seems like a movie.
    “Mimiki!” Tahlia cried.
    “Mom!” Haven hugged Mimiki.
“Yes, yes, I’m sorry for scaring you,” Mimiki smiled, “but I needed to use the toilet. Now, what do you want, dear?” She asked Harris.
Harris sighed, “They say that the fifth chosen one ran off, and that her mark’s gone. What does that mean?”
Mimiki’s eyes widen, “That’s impossible, never has there been a chosen one that lost their mark. This probably means that she isn’t the true chosen one.”
It grew silent. Marlo isn’t a chosen one, did I hear that right? And we still don’t know what terrible thing happened at the hut? Was Mimiki just screwing with our heads, or did something bad actually happen?
“That was probably what your vision was about,” Haven said, “That Marlo would lose the mark. And, maybe Marlo was never a chosen one, maybe when the rest of them got their powers; the earth jewel just went into the first person it came in contact with.”
Mimiki sighed, “That’s probably the case, but where’s the earth jewel?”
Sami pulled out a small green jewel from her pocket, it was the earth jewel, “I picked it up when Marlo ran off; I saw it and thought we would need it.”
Everyone sighed in relief; Mimiki patted Sami’s head, “Very smart, that was a good idea. Now, we need to find the real chosen one for earth.”
Suddenly, the jewel lit up, just like the night when we found them. Sami yelped and let go of the jewel, and the jewels floated in the air, above my other hand.
“No way,” Tahlia gazed in amazement.
Toby’s eyes widen, “This only means one thing…” he didn’t finish his statement.
The jewel intertwined itself in my right hand, just like the purple water jewel did with my left hand. This did only mean one thing, I was the chosen one for water and earth.
