• tab "Jack! Phone!" I was snapped out of my little flash back, and slowly got out of bed.
    tab "Jack!"
tab "Yeah, yeah..." I rubbed my back and began to the high pitch sound of my room mate. "Coming..." I found David waving the phone in his hand, a big smile on his face.
tab "Man, this girl's got a cute voice..." I quickly snatched to phone from his hand. Someone needed to get him a girlfriend.
    tab "Hello?"
tab "Heeey, Jack!" I smiled. It was nice to hear that voice again.
tab "Hey, Sarah! What's going on?"
tab "Not much!" There was an awkward pause, then she said,
tab "We're having a Christmas eve party. You think you can come?"
tab "Of course I can! On Christmas eve, right?" She laughed.
    tab "Well, of course!"
tab "All right. See you then."
tab "Bye!" I hung up, glancing up only to see David's smile still smugly planting on his face. Ok, he really needed a girlfriend.
tab "Got a hot date?" I shrugged.
tab "You could say that." The moment I said that, the phone rang again. I pressed the "talk" button, and put the phone up to my ear.
tab "Sarah?" There was a small pause on the other end, and then,
tab "Who's Sarah?" It was Susan.
tab My brain rushed a mile a minute. How was I supposed to react to this? I just called Susan Sarah...What was I going to say to patch things up?
tab "Oh...um, hi, Susan." Nice, Jack.
    tab "You don't sound surprised."
tab "What?" I had been saying that a lot to her.
tab "Don't you remember what I told you before today?" How could I possibly forget? She told me she loved me...No build up, no suspense, just that she loved me.
tab "Look, Susan..." I scratched my head, trying to think of what to say. Trust me, it was hard. "I don't--I don't think this is going to work out." Another pause. Then,
    tab "I see..."
    tab "Susan, I'm sorry, but..."
tab "Jack," she interrupted. "Can you meet me at the restaraunt you took me to that once? Five years ago?"
    tab "Um, ok, when?"
    tab "6:00 tonight."
tab "All right. Again, sorry..." The phone trailed into a low humming sound. Susan had hung up.
tab "Looks like someone's a player today!" You can always depend on David to break up a sentimental mood.
tab "And for once..." I said, not taking what he said as a joke. "I don't want to be." With that comment, I went back to my room.
tab "I'll take one of them, if you'd like." I actually stopped and chuckled.
tab "No thanks. Less trouble for you." But more for me.
tab I sat down on my bed, and thought about all the...thoughts I had about me and Susan being together. All I wanted was for Susan to love me. Susan to want me.
tab And now, I was getting my wish. And I absolutely hated it.
    tab Irony hurts sometimes.
