• She kept running to her last breathe, fighting for her life. Though she knew she wouldn’t escape this nightmare and regretted the life she dreamed of years ago. She was running faster and faster, running with the soles of her feet, turning her head back then faces front trying to tract if he’s still following her. She rolled her eyeballs to her sides to view if he was there unknowingly, her feet was bleeding caused by the thorns of the ground. Her wedding gown gleaming whitely an hour ago and now covered with stains of blood. She never felt the pain for the sake of saving her life; she hid under the bushes, trying to break away from death; cold and hungry she was comforting herself, and hears lurking sounds and there was silence. She tries to be very keen, but her keenness is not enough, and finally, she hears it, the footsteps, it was towards her direction. Her heart beats fast, like she never experienced before… until,

“Ryuk cut that off. It wouldn’t help!” Light turned off the television and sat recklessly in his couch trying to think what would be his next move.

“Ahh… Lighto, that’s so rude. The movie’s gonna end soon. I was thrilled.” Ryuk gibbering trying to convince Light to open again the television.

Light stood up and dragged his feet to his desk and got some apples,

“That wouldn’t be necessary Ryuk, those are just fictions… not true.”, and threw the apple to the shinigami.

“They seemed true though,” Ryuk catches a favorite meal trying to forget about frustrations from the movie and happily munches them.

Light sighed, stared at the Death Note and sat on his chair.

“It would have been easy when I have the death god’s eyes…”

Ryuk attentively turned his head to his roommate and pathetically laughs.

“So, you’ve thought about it. I told you so it’s hard to kill without the eyes. Would you like to have the deal?”

“Don’t annoy me Ryuk, I’m not stupid.”

“I was just suggesting. Don’t be mad Lighto-kun.” Ryuk comforts Light.

“Stop it Ryuk, it’s disgusting. I have to plan. This time, I’ll make sure; I’ll completely have it right.” Light smirks as he opens the television to watch news and started writing names.

The next day, Light walks for school as Ryuk floatingly follows him. Light stopped as he remembers something,

    Disturbed, Ryuk promptly asked Light.

    “Lighto, what’s the matter?”

“It was just, when I started writing down names in the Death Note last night, I noticed that some of those criminals died with a different kind of death,” as he started walking.

“Off course they’d die. What are you thinking about Ligh,”

“Without my decision of writing it with the details of death,” Light interrupted as he conspicuously observed and altered things in his mind.

Stunned, Ryuk dubiously thought of the other way around of how it would happen.

“What could be the possible reason behind this Ryuk, do you know any? Does anything of the rules say something about altering the details of death?” Light consciously asked the shinigami trying to get unnoticed.

“No. There’s nothing. Maybe you’ve written a wrong name.” Ryuk suggested as they entered the school gates.

“That’s impossible. I know what I’ve written. Besides, the media wouldn’t be too careless enough to present something to the public which aren’t true. There must be a reason behind this and I’ll make sure I’ll figure it out.”, and headed towards the classroom.

Lately, Light was busy trying to figure things in his mind while staring at his notes for the exam. Ryuk on the other hand looks obviously pale for not eating a favorite meal this morning.

    “Lighto, have any apples there?”

Light frivolously acted as he continuously thinks deep about the possible reasons that had happened and haven’t notice the teacher’s announcement about a new student.

“Ei Lighto, wouldn’t you be more attentive now?” Ryuk interrupted.

Light glances at the teacher, then to the new student and back to his notes. After the exam, Light headed straight for home.

“Lighto, you’re still disturbed aren’t yah?” Ryuk asked Light as he tries to turn his head to the grocery store.

“It’s still irrational Ryuk. I can’t think of any possible event that could have triggered the details of death, but I’m quite sure I just need one missing puzzle piece for this.” Light responded.

    “Lighto…”

“I know you love to eat apples now Ryuk, but help me finish this off for reaper’s sake!” Light anxiously responded as he immediately calm himself down.

“Okay Lighto, just don’t forget my apples. I feel a little dizzy now.” Ryuk flew straight to Light’s window as they approached home.

As Light entered the gate, he noticed someone looking from a distance, just a silhouette lurking in its post. Light stared at the shadows carefully as his phone rang,

Light immediately answered the phone and knew it was Suichiro Yagami,

“Otosan, why’d you call?” Light answered as he glanced again at the silhouette, late enough it wasn’t there.

“Lighto, we’ll be expecting you at the headquarters right now.”

“For what otosan?” dreadful enough, Light asked as he started walking for the headquarters,

“It’s about the KIRA case.” The blurring voice answered as Light ironically astonished himself in excitement while trying to ignore the silhouette.

    “What about the KIRA case?”

    “…we found KIRA.”

Like a manikin, Light stared blankly into space, and was quite unsure what to answer. Sweat started running down his face,

“Okay otosan, I’ll rush through in.” and cut down the line. His hands were shaking, trying to be calm and started thinking logically.

“What’s happening? Calm down, it’s not me that they’re referring to; Right, they just wanted to know my opinion about KIRA.”

Light dragged his feet as he tries to calm down. Still wondering, Light tries to ignore the incoherent things that happened to him for the past two days. The satire wit of events that happens consecutively seemed to be connected in such manners, Light thoughts.

In his way, he happened to pass by the school campus where students await the result of the exam taken an hour ago. Light glimpse through the group of students trying to know their result. Ignoring the crowd, Light soundlessly passed through knowing he made the top once more. A student who happen to know him pin-pointed Light and gave a big pat on his shoulder.

“Lighto-kun!” The student exclaimed as everyone in the crowd notices.

Exasperated, Light gave an unruffled smile and asks “why?” for a sudden and if the student needs any help. The crowd seemed to be down in their faces. Light was stunned knowing that,

“…you failed the exam.” Awkwardly astound, he decided a move, peeping into the List paper of students who passed the exam and those who failed.

Light shrugged and started to be cool, performing his usual way of acting after knowing the truth.

“Let’s face it. It’s a matter of fact that we’re all exhausted in things around us. Please be considerate.” Light sighed and egresses as he gave a smile afterwards.

As Light walked out from the campus ground he headed towards the headquarters, still freaking out of the things that occurred, he felt anxiously desperate; firstly for not knowing the key reason of the death details he wrote two days ago.

“It’s impossible for me to fail, impossible! There must be a mistake, a typographical error? I don’t think so, I feel like I’m L, desperate for victory. There must be something behind all these, I will figure that out and figure it out fast!”

Light’s thoughts deepened. He reached the headquarters and entered the doors. As he made it up the second floor, one more storey to go for the most awaited part of the day, knowing this so-called TRUE KIRA. As he stepped the first staircase, he felt chills running down his spine as he thought something’s not right. Light continued climbing up the stairway holding unto the handrails uneasily. He keenly observes the atmosphere trying to avoid unnecessary actions that would lead to his demise.

Light finally reached the last staircase and stepped the third floor. He rolled his caramel eyes and keenly unlocked his ears to the silence that surrounds the aroma of the hall way. Light started walking furtively as he perceived through the first door. Intensely astound, Light remained silent as he heard his father’s voice abruptly exclaimed,

    “Light isn’t KIRA!”

“If you continue to disagree Yagami-san, I believe you leave me no choice.” A familiar tone calmly elucidated.

“Ryuuzaki? So he’s been planning all these? I haven’t thought of that chance, but how? It seemed impossible for him to get these far; I still haven’t managed to give details closely apparent about the connection of me and KIRA.” Light thought as he peeped carefully over the slightly opened door.

“If you can’t… Please tell Lighto-kun that the chances of him being KIRA increases from the percentage of 7 to 95.” Ryuuzaki’s voice continued. Exasperated, Light as convinced to hear Ryuuzaki`s fudging and trying to bluff, rushes into the room, “Otosan!” Light exclaimed and hastily realized a big mistake.

The brightly lit room flared-up and slowly, diminishing its intensity and ironically gleamed through Light’s face, filling his personality as if exaggeratedly expresses his victory. A voice played through his ears, but cannot understand if it is hostile or just ironically pleasant; he hears it utter,

    “I’ve been expecting you… KIRA!”
