• My first year of high school was dreadful ,well, for the first three months because I had just moved to the state over the summer and really has not made any friends. I ate breakfast and lunch alone, no one talked to me in class, and I was not good at starting conversations so I stayed alone until I met this girl named Brenda. She was loud, funny, crazy, and to top it all off she had a cute boyfriend named Jon who I had a huge crush on. I know what your thinking, right? what a beautiful way to start off a friendship but I kept my crush to myself until they started having troubles. I tried not to interfere but he kept flirting to me and me being this stupid ninth grader I did not know any better. I think she knew he was trying to make her jealous because she tried to get me to go out with her friend Larry who was an okay guy but I was not at all attracted to him. He was kind of a nerd but that was not what bothered me about him it was the fact that he creped me out like gave me chills. Everyday he would ask me to be his girlfriend each time I refused until one day I said yes. I have no idea what I was think that day but I said yes to the boy. God! I must of really lost my mind. The first day we went out he asked to kiss me and I refused then I avoided him the whole day. Actually, I avoided him for the rest of the week and planned to break up with him the next week but he disappeared, well, I wouldn't say literally disappeared but I just did not see him. Until one day a month later, I walked into the library and there he was sitting in the library. I walked over to him and said hi, he looked at me then packed his stuff and walked out of the library. Well, anyway Brenda broke up with Jon at this point and stopped coming to school two weeks after that. Her friend told me she went to another school so I was back to eating alone until finally one of my classmates Wuanita Purcell started talking to me because we sat next to each other in Biology. She was mean, cruel, and heartless but funny. We only stayed friends for a month until she stopped talking to me because I did not do the project we were working on the right way which was her way. So that friendship was over thats about when I met Beverly Ann Williams. I guess when she saw Wuanita talking to me she thought I was mean like Wuanita plus one time my mom called me in the middle of class asking where her keys were I guess it was the tone of voice I had on the phone with her made me come off as mean until she got the nerves up to talk to me. She plays a big role in my life the next year but for now she introduces me to the most incredible people, my classmates. Some were born there, others came from New York but no one knew where Rhode Island that kept calling it long island it was quite maddening correcting them each time after a while I just did not care. Most of the girls in class especially Samantha, Akenia, Wendy, Tiffany, Kamesha, and Stephanie were like the most popular girls in school. I sat with them at breakfast and lunch, they included me in everything and they never once made me feel like an outsider. They were fun for a while until I met Whitney Ricks now she was fun. She is an incredible person. She is an athlete , she's smart, funny, silly and doesn't take BS from anyone. She is so fun to hang out with and she helped break me out of my shell plus she introduced to Hai and Michael. Now, Hai is weird...I can't think of any words that describe him better. He is just literally weird I guess because he's artistic but them he has his mood swings and I don't know he's just strange. Michael, on the other hand is my best buddy. He is so freakin' plus he thinks he's a pimp which is hilarious. Coolest redneck I've ever met and God! he is so cute but the thing about Michael was that he never really talked to me until we were sent to make copies together did we actually have a full conversation ever since then we've been friends. Even though it took me awhile I finally found the friends who fit me and I guess after I made friends the school year went better for me. The most important rule and advice a person could give to anyone is to make friends, good friends because high school will not be the same without them because high school is time when a teenager is trying to find who they are going to become and a person needs friends to help you do that even if it takes a while to find the group of friends you belong to.
