• no one knows
    where the rabbit goes
    till they follow it down
    it's labyrinth holes
    but they never come back
    and the stories lack
    a certain sanity

    now the Hatter told me
    i would finally see
    if i drank deep
    of his steamy tea
    but his clock was cracked
    and his cards were stacked
    and i wasn't myself
    when Father Time attacked

    the Cheshire Cat said
    as he tipped his head
"now, there's black and there's white
    but all is red
    and if you disagree
    then you'll all be dead.
'least that's what the Matriarch said."

    now the Scholar Worm
    had to take his turn
    tried to open my head
    so I'd better learn
    and he spelled it out
    in the simplest terms
    so i wouldn't understand

now the Members of the Deck
    preferred to squabble and peck
and all were at another's neck
i said i'd learned much on my dreamy trek
but i'd best be on my way

just then the Red Queen showed
and the whole world bled and slowed
said, "ya goin my way you filthy toad!?"
    i politely said no
    and turned down the road
and she vowed to have my head

away i ran, faster than fast
up and away toward the looking glass
when i was finally sure we'd made it past
i turned to the Hare and said
    we've made it... at last
