• Description: i wrote this in 2009, the day after my birthday and shortly after my parents told me they were getting a divorce.
  I was in denial for years and just recently i have finally accepted that my family was not meant to be together.
  i still have trouble listening to my parents say horrible things about each other and to watch my brother get into trouble.
  i was in denial about my home life and completely oblivious to what was going on around me.
  But I didn't know any better..

Of all things,
Family is most important to me.
I don't even have to think twice about it.
I love my parents, I love by brother.
I love every family member i am fortunate enough to have.

Yeah, it hurts
but even if my parents don't live in the same house anymore,
i'll still love them the same
And i'll make sure they both know i understand.
Because these things happen -Quite often.

It wont be easy,
I know that.
But they didnt do this to hurt me or my brother
They didn't plan on getting married to split up 17 years later
nobody does.
They are doing this because they know it's going to be ok
They promise everything is going to be ok.

I'll miss this house,
I'll miss my street,
I'll miss family vacations
I'll miss going on drives on sunday mornings with my parents
but the one thing i'll miss the most is being a family of four.

I hope in the end
The four of us can be happy again
Even if it means we can't all be together.
Because there is nothing more important to me than Family.
