Hogsmeade is the only all-wizarding village in the United Kingdom. It boasts a modest shopping district, which Hogwarts students third year and up are allowed to visit on select weekends.
High Street is famous for such famous establishments as The Three Broomsticks, Honeyduke's, and Zonko's Joke Shop.
- This subforum houses mod-created profile threads for Hogsmeade shop owners and employees. All profiles will be posted to the thread for the shop at which a character is employed. - If you wish to create a non-canon shop, you will need to apply here for the shop to get a mod-created profile thread up. Once it is approved, the thread will be posted and you can post your profile there. - Once a profile is posted to the shop thread, you should post in the NCR Waiting List thread and note that it is a new profile. - Hogsmeade shops may be NPC owned, or owned by a character in the guild. The Application Process:
Apply to the shop by posting a Hogsmeade Shop Owner profile to the thread for the shop you want to own. Remember to follow these guidelines:
- Make sure your profile is filled out in its entirety. - Post in the NCR Waiting List thread, specifying that the profile is new and needs to be approved. - All shop owner profiles must be approved before you may post the shop thread. Please be patient with awaiting approval; do not contact anyone concerning your application for a minimum of three days.
Setting Up Shop:
When posting your shop thread, please follow the guidelines below:
- The title of your thread should include the shop’s name, and whether or not it is hiring. It may also include if the shop is currently closed, under circumstances where staff cannot post, so that people know not to post in the thread. - The first post of your thread should include the city the shop is located in, a short blurb about your shop’s purpose, hours of operation, and any other relevant information. - The second post of your shop should list the products it sells, and their prices. - The third post of your shop should list the employees of the shop. If preferred, it may include the usernames of the people playing the employees so that customers know who to quote for replies.
Employee Profiles:
As a shop owner, it is your responsibility to let crew know when you have approved a new employee for your shop.
- New employees should make a "New Profile" post in the NCR Waiting List thread, and quote the shop owner. - To let crew know that you have agreed to this employee working for your shop, quote the post and, in size 16 green font, state 'Approved'. - If a profile is posted to your shop's profile thread that you have not approved, please quote this post and make a note that you did not agree to hire the employee. - If an employee profile is posted to your shops thread and no NCR post is made, it is your responsibility to contact the roleplayer and ensure that they post. - Users who have applied to work for a shop reserve the right to contact the Hogsmeade Shops Manager if they have not received a response after a week. -- The owner will be contacted by the Hogsmeade Shops Manager via PM concerning the application. -- Failure to respond to the PM in three days will result in the application being reviewed by a Hogsmeade Shops Checker.
Employees Hired Under NPC Shop
Some previously NPC-owned shops may already have employees who have applied to work there prior to your applying to own the shop.
- All characters employed under the NPC-owned shop are considered employees of the shop once it has been taken over by a member unless the owner and employee discuss otherwise. - Shops will be considered ‘under new management’; meaning, the employee will have been there longer than the new owner. -- This can be ignored if it is discussed between the new owner and all previously-hired employees that the shop owner is being established as having owned it prior to official ownership. -- Please keep in mind that if the shop has had a previous owner, your character cannot said to have owned it while it was owned by that character.
Firing Employees
Shop owners reserve the right to fire employees.
- To fire an employee, you must quote them and the Hogsmeade Shops Manager in the NCR Waiting List thread and state that they are fired. - Reasons for character termination should be established in roleplay, or discussed out of character among the owner and employee. - If you wish to fire an employee for sensitive personal reasons between yourself and their roleplayer, contact a crewmember concerning the issue. The process of firing them from your shop will be handled by the Hogsmeade Shops Manager. Do not bring it up in the forums. - A crewmember will spoiler the character's profile in the Shop Profile Thread and remove them from the employee list. It is your responsibility to update your shop thread accordingly.

- All characters employed by the NPC-owned shop automatically transfer to the now-member owned shop. - In this case, the shop is said to be ‘under new management’. The employees will have canonically been employed by the shop longer than the owner has owned it. - If a member does not wish for their character to work in the shop once it becomes user-owned for whatever reason, it should be discussed between the shop’s new owner and the employee. - Under these circumstances, the employee should follow the directions under "Quitting", below. - Likewise, shops that are member-owned may at times become NPC-owned, if the character who owns the shop either becomes unable to maintain ownership, or chooses to ‘sell’ it. - All characters employed by the member-owned shop automatically transfer to the now-NPC-owned shop.
Quitting:
Sometimes, we quit our jobs. It happens. If you wish for your character to quit their current job, do as follows:
- To quit, you must quote the shop owned and the Hogsmeade Shops Manager in the NCR Waiting List - Reasons for quitting should be established in roleplay, or discussed out of character between owner and employee. - If you wish to quit for sensitive personal reasons between yourself and the owner’s roleplayer, contact a crewmember concerning the issue. - A crewmember will spoiler the character's profile in the Shop Profile Thread and remove them from the employee list.
Post your profile to the mod-created shop profile thread. Then, post in the NCR Waiting List thread to state that a new profile has been added to the thread. If you are applying to own the shop, please specify so in the post.
We're pretty strict about the way a profile skeleton looks. Try to make it pretty, if you can. It's not required, but it's nice to see. Make sure you follow all the instructions in the parenthesis while you're putting your skeleton together and include all the information we ask for (if you want to spruce it up, feel free). Remove the parenthesis and everything in between them when you're done, please.
The Crew reserves the right to deny or accept anybody. Please make sure you follow the rules when applying.
Post this as your own thread in the Hogsmeade Shop Owner Profiles subforum with your shop's name as the title. The crew will try very hard to get you accepted within a day or two. If it's been three days and you still haven't been accepted, PM the Hogsmeade Manager the link and they will check it out.
Do not bump your thread.
Once you've been accepted, go ahead and put your shop together in the Hogsmeade subforum. Create it based on its description. If you have the joke shop, don't make the shop boring! Have fun with your shop and try to stay as close to the original as you can.
