🌹 We'll do it all, everything, on our own. We don't need anything or anyone.

🌹 Let's waste time chasing cars around our heads. I need your grace to remind me to find my own.

Heather sat on the stairs in the Antechamber, her chin rested on her propped up arm. She watched the stray students wander into the Great Hall, trying to convince herself to do the same, but she continued to sit. She sighed deeply, staring at the door, her mind lost in a sea of thoughts. It was her last night at the castle, her last feast. Her team had finally won the Quidditch cup, as well as the House cup. She should be happy that they won, glad that she got through her NEWT's without dying, and spend her final hours in the castle smiling and laughing with her friends. But that was it, wasn't it? Her time at the castle was coming to an end. Soon, she would just be another memory of a girl who used to aimlessly wander these corridors. She would fade away, except for her name in the Trophy Room among the Quidditch rosters for each year.
Heather began to wonder... What had she done that was worth remembering? She wasn't a Prefect or Head Girl. Yes, she was a Quidditch Captain, but that only reached a select few people to whom she could assist. What had she accomplished in her seven years? The blonde began to travel back, deep into her memories. How awkward she used to be as a little First Year. Those glasses... She hadn't seen them in forever. Had she really been that tiny? But she tried out for Quidditch anyways, as a Chaser. Hmph. Her? A Chaser? Now, she couldn't see herself as anything but a Beater. It definitely helped her break out of her shell, that's for sure. As Heather thought of her Second Year, all she could think of was the snotty little kid that got gum stuck in her hair the summer before school. That was the year she met Dhylan. They were unlikely friends, that was for sure, but he was her best friend now. Even after he became her first boyfriend, they were still best friends. Hopefully, he wouldn't forget about her after she had left.
Friends. So many had come and gone over the years. Heather's mind shifted to thoughts of Kat and Steele and Sam. The three of them should be here with her and the others today, but they weren't. She wished them happiness, wherever they were. Despite the fact that their abrupt departures broke several hearts, she hoped they were happy. There were others that came across her mind. William, her first Captain, the first person to give her the opportunity to become a leader. He was gone now, attacked by dementors, so she had heard. As was his brother, Jayden. The former Gryffindor had taught her that as a Beater, it was your job to inflict pain upon others, even if they were your friends. She had crippled the boy, permanently benching him from the game, but he had forgiven her, even when she had not forgiven herself. Of course, Jane and Ronyo came to mind. They were her Quidditch idols. Ronyo helped her in more ways than one, introducing her to the Chimera Club, coming to her rescue when she had been kidnapped, showing her that even as a student, you can make a difference in someone else's life.
Make a difference. Chase made a difference in her life, hadn't he? After her kidnapping, she had felt so alone, so distant from everyone else. No one understood other than Caitlin and Remy, and they were both having boy troubles at the time. That was a dark time for.... but Chase was there. He tried to understand, helped her conquer her fear of losing herself. Of course, she helped him too. At the Circus, where she almost lost him, where she told him she loved him. Where would they go from here? What was in store for them now? He would go off to fulfill his dreams, but what would she do? What were her dreams? Sixth Year Transfiguration. Her professor had asked her the same question, and she said she would get back to her on the answer. Heather had thought long and hard since then, especially this year, about her future, and the same thing always came to her mind. However, she wanted to train first, become a better witch before jumping head first into her chosen profession.
What would Remy do with her life now that Hogwarts was behind them? Her sister had had a rough time here, especially this last year. Heather knew that her sister was a whiz at potions and healing, and could see the brunette as a Healer. However, would that make her happy? The Hufflepuff wanted to see her sister, and everyone she cared about, happy. The one place Remy always looked her happiest was in the air, on her broom, during a Quidditch match. Heather knew it was nearly impossible, with what had happened in the past few years, but maybe there was a chance for Remy in the pro league. Ari would probably pursue music. She had heard rumors of Shina signing on with the English Quidditch team. Eretria and Amanda... There was no telling what they would go on to do in life.
Heather sighed again. What was she doing here? She should be in the Great Hall, spending time with her friends before they go their separate ways. Instead of moping around, thinking about the past and pondering the future, she should be living in the present. Tomorrow could wait. Tonight, she would enjoy her last feast. She would make it a time to remember, just as she wished to be remembered. Standing, the teen brushed off her skirt and straightened her blouse. She cautiously approached the massive door, sliding through it into the Great Hall. The decorations were already up, black and yellow plastered across the entire Hall. The food smelled amazing, but Heather doubted she would eat any of it. Nerves were getting the best of her. Looking around, she spotted her brother chatting with friends. Remy was chatting with David at the Gryffindor table, and Romy was with Anna. Heather found her own set of friends and stood by them. Ari, Nell, and Dhyl were talking about Quidditch, which reminded her of something she needed to do.
Heather glanced at Ari. Her Vice Captain had agreed with her choice and the decision had been made. Now, all she had to do was tell everyone. "Attention! Attention please! Badgers, over here!" The blonde hated this. She didn't want to do this, but she knew that she had to. With a smile towards Ariana, she cleared her throat to speak. "I don't want to interrupt the festivities, but there's something I've been meaning to announce for a while now. As you know, our Quidditch season was by far the best one yet. The team worked and trained harder than I've ever seen them work before, and I'd like to thank everyone who was apart of the team this year, and who helped us get to where we are today." Heather tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she gazed out at the faces of the house that once seemed so wrong for her. These people were her family now, and she didn't want to leave them, but she had to. It was time to move on from this place.
"I'd like to ask the remaining players to continue to work just as hard as they did this year. Even with Ari and mine's departure from Hogwarts, I still want nothing more than to see you all do your very best. With that said, you'll need someone to lead you there. Ari and I have both agreed that there is one person we both trust to take my place." Heather paused to look down at her badge, shining against her robes. She unlatched it and held it in the palm of her hand. In the right light, she could see her reflection. She smiled. "We have decided that the new Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team is... Dhylan Nolynn." Heather turned to her friend, her best friend, and gave him a reassuring smile. She held the badge out to him, a sad yet proud shimmer in her teal irises. "Take care of them... Captain. I know you'll be brilliant."
