Tanya skipped into the Great Hall feeling a tad aww'd and slightly weird at not being one of the students being led in but instead able to just go straight to her table. She waved to both Elsie and Echo as they departed to their tables as she and Leo sat at the one adorned with crimson and gold. Taking a seat at the edge so she'd get a good view of the sorting she waited anxiously for her friend Birdy's sorting offering waves and grins of encouragement to him although she didn't know if he saw or not. When the sorting hat shouted out "Hufflepuff" she applauded just as loudly as if he had been sorted into the lions. Tanya had a feeling he wouldn't join her in Gryffindor but rather her blonde friends in Hufflepuff but that didn't stop her from being happy for him.

A note flew across the Great Hall to the Gryffindor table to settle nicely in Front of Mr. Clarisse.
David!
I've come up with the most brilliant idea for some last minute studying. I figured it might help you become an Auror if I could... Inspire you to remember things. If you do we can meet in the Garden, or on the covered bridge.

I wish I had a sterotypical Hufflepuff personality...
Ronna left the carriages and Victor who would go to his own house table and entered the Great Hall, she noticed several Gryffindors had gotten there before her including the Alvern twins, Crash, Eun, and David. She was honestly a bit surprised to see that Crash was there as early as he was, since the last two years he tended to be there later for whatever reason. At least, she had a good excuse not to carry her Dad's errand or say anything to Crash with the others there, David was talking to him. It would be rude to interrupt people, right?
As she passed David she nodded briefly and she sat further down the table on her own, tucked her bookbag under her seat, and glanced up at the sorting that was beginning. She wondered what kind of mix of students this year had began. It was weird to think of the extra classes that she would take this year that she got to chose, and weirder to realize that as she thought about Quidditch and Victor's surprise at her admitting that she was thinking about not trying out-giving it up even. One thing had to be said about Gryffindor, despite the two year losing streak she had observed-it may have gone on longer than that- there were still plenty of people fighting for spots on the team. Rick. Cameron. Treyv. Toby. Keith, probably. Already too many competing for too few spots and the first two she assumed due to position and skill were guaranteed the regular beater spots already.
Then again Victor was just one more person who thought she should try out. Elli told her to. Hell, her Dad told her she should. Tapping her fingernails on the table as she calculated odds she wondered why even bother regardless of the fact she hadn't shown her best face the year before... it wasn't like she had practiced anything to help her in Quidditch over the summer at all. Of course, she had decided over the summer to set aside her wants and listen to other people for once, that would include trying out regardless of what she thought was logical or not.
She wanted to let out a groan of annoyance, put her head down, something... but there was the sorting and the feast of course. Talking with Victor had confirmed one thing though, she wished she was a Hufflepuff-well, personality wise at the very least since from what she observed they weren't the type of people you could really label as 'bad guys' while she had done more than her fair share to annoy people. She watched as the sorting began noting a few Gryffindors from the first years... she might as well put on a good face for them since they had never met her for better or for worse...

Mood: Surprised, scared Thoughts: I don't know anyone in that house!?!?! Equipment: Wand Where am I: Gryffindor table
Nyx bit her lip as the Sorting Hat was removed, Gryffindor? She didn't know anyone in Gryffindor! She got up and walked over to the long table that had cheered the loudest, decorated in gold and crimson. Once at the table she looked around and took a deep breath and found a somewhat secluded seat and sat there, just barely resisting the urge to bring her knees to her chest and try and hide. the hat mentioned a backbone, she needed to show she had one, and prove that she belonged here, since she had been sorted into this house, she would prove that she belonged here. She just hoped maybe she'd see Terren and Erica occasionally. She looked around and bit her lip as she observed the other students in her new home for the next seven years. Some she knew had to be graduating this year, so she doubted she'd have anything to do with them, other than in perhaps passing. Some of the others, though, she would more than likely run into often, like the other first years, and the year above her, the second years. She wondered if she'd actually manage to make friends here, or if she'd still be the strange little loner kid she was at the orphanage.

David clapped for all the new first years whether they were sorted into Gryffindor or not. When a note flew over to him he unfolded it before reading it over. ‘Last minute study idea…?’ David just shook his head thinking of how much of a Ravenclaw Shayna was. Quickly writing a response back he didn’t mind any help from her. If anything she was a way better study partner then his sister or his cousin.
When Nyx came to the table David decided to be the Prefect he was supposed to be and say hello. After all it was hard being new to Hogwarts at times unless you had support. "Hey welcome to Gryffindor. My name's David and I'm a Prefect so if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer any of them as best as I can." he welcomed her.

Leonette headed off to the great hall with Tanya, Elsie, and Echo. When they arrived they went their separate ways and Leonette went with Tanya to the Gryffindor table for the sorting. She wondered how many new Gryffindor’s they would get this year. The moment when a kid’s cat wanted to be sorted made her smile, nothing like a strange moment to keep things interesting at the beginning of the year. She clapped for him when he was sorted into Hufflepuff and saw that Tanya was pretty happy for the first year.“Hey Tanya you know him?” she asked curiously.
Mood: Surprised Thoughts: Prefect? Equipment: Wand Where am I: Gryffindor Table
Nyx blinked her large eyes up at the teenager that had started talking to her. He was clearly older than her, and had said he was a Prefect. What was a Prefect? "Um, I'm sorry but... What's a Prefect?" She asked sheepishly, voice soft as she blushed at her lack of knowledge about everything going on around her. "I'm just... kinda confused, i didn't have time to read any of my books before getting on the train so..." She shrugged apologetically and smiled shyly, "But, thank you for offering to help." He'd gone out of his way to talk to her after all, despite obviously not knowing her, so she should at least be polite and thank him.

Wait, David is a Prefect? That's good.
Ronna glanced over to see the dark haired first year sorted into Gryffindor, she seemed rather quiet for a Gryffindor but the hat must have seen something to sort her there. Before she could contemplate greeting the girl David came over and introduced himself and as a Prefect and she noticed the Prefect badge on his robes and she moved over to the girl who was asking him about what a Prefect was and stumbling over her words.
"Oh, hey, David, I didn't notice, you got Prefect. Congrats," She said with a small smile as she sat down beside Nyx kicking her bag over under her seat. She held out a hand to Nyx and said, "I'm Veronica, a third year. And prefects are upperclassmen recognized as leaders and placed in leadership roles in each house. It's an honor. Good to meet you." Unlike usual she used her full name.

‘Right some people don’t know anything about Hogwarts.’ David realized his minor mistake."Hey Ronna, thanks. My sister freaked out when she found out and not in a nice way." he told her with a smile. “You don’t have to apologize I should have explained. It’s kind of a learning curve… being my first year and all.” He told her. "Like Ronna said you have to be a fifth year or higher to be one. They help students out and keep an eye on them. Make sure they aren't breaking school rules." he added to Ronna's explanation.
David was glad he knew his job description. “It’s alright all the teachers here are really good and they’ll teach you all of the basics before you jump right into everything.” He told her. “And it’s no problem at all really. I’d be over here talking to you regardless of the job.” He added with a smile. “So your name’s Nyx, right?”

Why would his sister freak out over something like that?
"Which is one of the reasons why you probably got the position in the first place," Ronna pointed out in reference to David's comment to him heading over regardless of job duties. She was somewhat curious about his conversation with Crash but decided that it wasn't the time and added, "And I figured I would start switching back over to my legal name more... a fresh start and image. God, I need it. Speaking of which you can give me detention now..."
Ronna glanced back to Nyx and said, "Nyx was it? That's pretty. Welcome to Hogwarts. Any questions? David's probably way better than me helping out but I wouldn't be shy about asking anyone a question or two. Most people in the school are more than willing to help out where they can."

Cameron entered the Great Hall for the very last Sorting Ceremony of his life. Hazel eyes scanned the table for somebody to sit with. They rolled in annoyance when his eyes glazed over the Alvern twins. There was no way in hell Cam would sit anywhere near Keith. He was an annoying p***k who he rivaled in getting the beater position in Quidditch. Ronna wasn't any better. In fact, she was probably worse. The girl caused more problems than Keith did; however, whether or not she was trying out for the team this year still seemed to be undecided. At least, he hadn't heard anything about it except that Elli had told her to tryout. Arriving at the table decked in crimson and gold, Cameron sat down alone, awaiting his girlfriend to come and join. One year from today, she would be here without him.

Alexandria strutted into the Great Hall. Dark eyes quickly scanned the Gryffindor table as she made her way over to Ronna and sat down in an empty spot across from her. Most of her peers that already showed up were all sitting nearby, so the girl figured it wouldn't be problematic for her to join them. Alex eyed Crash. Sure, last year she had thought he was cute, and maybe she sort of developed a crush on him, but her mind wandered onto a different Gryffindor boy at the moment. Theo had admitted to kind of liking her, but that kind of only meant a little, didn't it? The girl had developed a close friendship with her fellow second year, and she did really like his company, and if he were to ask her out... well, she would definitely say yes. But he only told her he kind of liked her. What did that mean? Alexandria only smiled and let out a laugh when he told her that, but she still avoided answering the question Theo had originally asked her: What did she think of him? If he liked her less than she liked him, she wouldn't be the idiot girl and tell him that.

Nyx smiled shyly at the blonde that had sat over beside her, Veronica; or Ronna, then nodded at David, "And yes, my name is Nyx." She said with a small smile, "And that sounds like a lot of responsibility." she said as she tilted her head to the side and bit her lip. People were willingly talking to her? This was new, but it was nice. She smiled at Veronica and tilted her head slightly, unable to shake the habits she'd picked up from her pet fox back at home, "Why would he give you detention? Classes haven't even started yet, have they?" She asked, baffled as to what she could possibly done to have already earned detention. She smiled at her though, "Thank you for the advise though. I'll definitely keep it in mind." She promised both of them, she felt a little more at ease now, and a little more like she actually belonged here.

Oh and Alexandria is here... where is Theo? Don't they usually hang out together?
Ronna let out an uncomfortable laugh and said, "It's the professors who generally give detentions in classrooms... I'd say watch out for Professor Lupe in Astronomy but I think that is more of a me thing. That's the only detention I actually have ever gotten, but you can get detentions for things like breaking curfew or school rules..." She shrugged. "I would assume you would have to be aiming for a detention and then some considering I never actually got one last year. Like I said, a fresh start might be good."
She glanced over seeing Alexandria sitting down beside her and noticed Cameron had also sat at the table. He was far down the table and it wasn't like she had anything to say to him one way or another. Instead she raised a brow at Alex and said, "Hey, Alex. Where's my Quidditch watching buddy, Theo? I mean don't you two generally hang out?" She hadn't been particularly close to Alex but had gotten to know Theo enough from watching practically every Quidditch match with him the year before. She hadn't seen him and he was one of the few people she had gotten along with the entire school year the year before and not made enemies with.
She smiled and said nodding to Nyx and Alex, "Anyways, this is Nyx one of our new housemates. Nyx, meet Alex, she's a second year."

Alexandria had been staring off at the sorting, but she had not been paying attention to it. Her mind was too focused on thinking about Theo, and what he really felt for her, and what she really felt for him. Are feelings always this confusing? she wondered. After all, the girl has never actually had a crush on anyone before. At least, not that she was aware of. "Hm? Oh, hi," she said quickly, snapping back into reality at the sound of her name being said. "Oh, erm, I dunno," she admitted, unsure of where Theo was. In fact, Alex had been wondering the same thing when she walked into the Great Hall and didn't see him seated at the table. Dark eyes looked over at the unfamiliar face that was seated with them. Of course, Alex was too preoccupied with her thoughts to even realize a student was sorted into their house. "What she said." Ronna had already mentioned to Nyx everything that Alex would have told her.
