Oh you should've stayed home. You should've known better! First Year and Probably Purer Blood than Your Bloodline.
Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: My Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- "I'm not sure if the girl is a naive idiot or a manipulative genius to tell the truth. And she's only a second cousin," Wendy answered to Mira. Before her attention was turned to Mira agreeing with her explanation of the boat incident and then listed to her answer of it being 'boorish' which sounded odd from the girl who added 'he'll get what's coming to him, I'm sure', "His comeuppance?" Wendy offered.
She scoffed and said, "The only way you can be sure of anything like that is if you enacted the comeuppance yourself. I am fairly sure karma is more accurate to come back to haunt you once you died or in future lives or something of that sort. Though I suppose it doesn't technically matter. Childish acts like that just serve to show his immaturity and absolute lack of any decent manners. I'm sure having to go through life with that lack of dignity and pure idiocy is more than bad enough for him."
When Camila answered she was Columbian, Wendy merely nodded, and listened as she then asked about their family's attending and whether any of their old professors were still here. "I have not had much an opportunity to ask," Wendy answered. "The Head and Matriarch of the main family have been the most involved in my preparing for attending Hogwarts the last couple years. They graduated in the early 70s, so I would be surprised if any of their old professors were here. Then again the main family has a different last name. As for the actual carriers of the Chaisty name there is nothing worth worrying about-or at least not from my father or grandfather." You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face, but tell me how do my leftovers taste!

Location: Great Hall: Slytherin Table What the hell was the difference? Mira didn’t bother questioning Wendy on it. There wasn’t much point anyways. The blond couldn’t bring herself to say anything on the matter of being overly childish. They were after all only eleven so honestly how grown up were they supposed to be. Mira was sure he’d probably learn from his mistake, like he’d have too. Jayden was with the lions so it was safe to say he would have it pretty easy.
Listening to Wendy, Mira nodded at Camila question afterward. “That’s right. I don’t imagine any of my parents professors are still here.” She answered. “However…” she sighed before continuing. “My sister is a current fourth year and as such I suppose they’ll be expecting some similarities between the two of us.” Mira hated that fact. She was trying to get out of her sister’s shadow which was partly the reason she planned on going out for Quidditch. She hoped with some luck she could take down her sister’s everlasting spotlight. “Either of you have any siblings here?” Mira asked. She wasn’t overly curious however it was at least something to add to the conversation, she hardly wanted to be in. Status: Happy and Satisfied With: Slytherins... The longer that Camila listened on, the more she began to wonder if she was in over her head. She knew she didn't fit in, as desperately as she wanted to. Her blood was muddy with muggles and squibs, though luckily, as a first generation Britain, she wouldn't have to worry with her surname revealing too much of anything. It was virtually unknown in comparison with others, presumably, Wendy and Mira's. Camila wouldn't have known either way; she supposed it was a common knowledge for pureblood elitists, of which she was most assuredly not. She wondered how long she could get away with it, or what would happen if anyone had found out. At Wendy's statement, it was hard not to tilt her head, raise a brow, and drop her jaw in that typical 'uuuuuuh' expression. Instead, she blinked, smiled, and shrugged her shoulders.
She sure as hell didn't want to ask what the hell that word had meant. And as much as she wanted to argue, wanted to find something to bicker and fight about; it would be much more beneficial to just lie. And she was quite comfortable with that. ”No, I suppose you are right, it honestly doesn't matter.” She waved it off with a gentle, but plump hand. ”It's all a matter of opinions, anyway. But I do agree with you.” She lied. And she lied hard. But it was something she had done her entire life. It was like a second language to her. But her eyes always gave her away, always a quick glance to the left and habitual curl of her hair around her finger.
As Wendy explained her familial situation, or at least, a small fraction of it, Camila nodded along politely. Occasionally, her attention would divert to the sorting whenever an applause erupted, but then it was back on the young Chaisty girl the next instant. ”Oh,” she smiled politely. Mira answered next, and Cami admonished her with the same smile. ”Oh, heavens, siblings.” She laughed and rolled her eyes. ”I have a brother in Gryffindor and one in Ravenclaw, and both are a menace to society.. But I digress...
“What about you, Wendy? Or, it was cousins, you said, yes?” She tilted her head to the side, unsure if she was correct in her assumption or not.

Oh you should've stayed home. You should've known better! First Year and Probably Purer Blood than Your Bloodline.
Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: My Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- "Your sister is a current fourth year? Hmm... well that is interesting to say the least," Wendy said with a small smile as she considered the different resources she had at her disposal. She could probably figure out from Mira if she tried hard enough what exactly the second official heir of the family was up to since he seemed fairly closed mouth at least to his sister and his juniors in the family. As, for Camila Rojas, the last she heard the Ryans was spending quite some time in South America somewhere and most of South America spoke Spanish so she could probably figure out if she dug if the Ryans who was sorted was at least one who spent some time in South America, which would mean he probably knew some Spanish, right?
She raised a brow as Camila as she claimed to agree with Wendy, but she didn't buy it for a moment as Camila spoke about her siblings and two brothers one in Gryffindor and the other in Ravenclaw and then she asked about her having siblings or cousins she mentioned. "I'm an only child and I won't have to worry about half siblings ever. As for other relatives... I only have two officially, currently attending Hogwarts. They are technically second cousins by blood-from the main family. Cathaline League is in Hufflepuff and spent almost all summer driving me up the wall. Her older brother, is a Ravenclaw, but he only stayed at the main manor for less than two days for official business."
"It really isn't that exciting. By most accounts we don't share that close of relations. Their maternal grandmother is my great aunt," Wendy replied. "Fairly distant relatives by most accounts." You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face, but tell me how do my leftovers taste!

Location: Great Hall: Slytherin Table Mira was glad the two went along with her topic of conversation. It saved her from being bored and rather irritated. ‘So she has two brothers…’ Mira wondered if Leonette knew the one in Gryffindor. Probably not, but you never know. Turning her attention to Wendy Mira smiled. “Yes, fourth year Gryffindor.” She answered. Overall she had no reason to hide that Leonette was in Gryffindor or really anything to do with her. Mira after all made no promises not to talk about things in her sister’s life. So it was fair game.
Speaking of other members of family she did have David… dare she mention him. Mira wasn’t sure how important the seventh year was to her to bring up but maybe he was at least relevant. “You’re so lucky Wendy. Siblings are an absolute hassle.” She told her honestly. It was one thing Mira didn’t have to lie about. Realistically she never did tend to lie. She was more the brutally honest type. “Speaking of other relatives I have a cousin who’s in seventh year.” She added. There was one thing Mira could conclude from this all other houses were full of annoying individuals she didn’t feel like associating with, if she could help it. ”Hmmm, you're very lucky indeed.” She agreed wholeheartedly with Mira. She may, at times, have love for her adopted siblings, but most of the time they were too loud, too obnoxious, or always making a mess. For a brief moment, when Wendy had mentioned her cousin, Cathaline, a spark of immediate recognition burst like fiendfyre in her dark eyes. She blinked, tried not to let her exaggerated expression reveal too much of anything (but it was too late for that, really.) Instead, she politely tried not to pester Mira into revealing just who her oldest cousin was. The fourth year really didn't have much enticement, at least until next year, but the seventh year would have had resources, connections, hell, maybe even some advice. It never hurt to have a few low friends in high places. Of course, given Mira's reluctance for more details, she could only assume the worst.
Finally, it seemed Camila just couldn't hold herself back any longer. She leaned in a little closer too, her voice only marginally hushed in comparison. ”I'm sorry, you said Cathaline... right? League?” She had to be absolutely sure. ”I know her.” 'I made her cry,' she initially wanted to say. ”An emotional one, that one. She ran out of class one day crying over something ridiculous, because of squibs, or, something.” Cami rolled her eyes. It was all her fault that she had gotten a detention, the only reason anyone took offense to what she had stated was because Cathaline just had to blow everything out of proportion. Well, two can play at that game. ”But of course the bloody professor had to take her side and give me and the other Slythern's detention. I'd watch out for Powell, if I were you.... That one, the one with the shaggy beard beside the blonde professor.” She pointed out with a fat finger pointed to the staff table. She stretched the truth somewhat, of course. Made sure not to acknowledge Gunilda Stone's betrayal, at least, until it might ever come in handy. Her gaze flashed around the table, suddenly curious of where Morven was. That's when she spotted her with a sixth or seventh year, quirked a brow and then hid the sly smile from forming on her lips. Just what was she doing over there, anyway?

Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: My Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- "A fourth year Gryffindor? That's the year David is in. I suppose they would at least know of each other-your sister and him," She said with a slight tilt of her head and a raised brow before continuing, "I suppose that is true about the sibling thing being lucky. However, I live at the main Avery manor so that means anyone in the family tree is able to show up if they so want and stay as long as they want. That includes second cousins and the such."
She held her smile and glanced over at Camila who also voiced the same opinion about siblings as Mira did when she finally leaned forward and added a question about her second cousin, Cathaline League. She nodded with a raised brow at Camila and Camila said that she knew her. Further stating that Cathaline was emotional and ran out of class crying over something ridiculous because of squibs or something. And then that the professor had taken her side and then added to avoid a blonde professor which Camila pointed them both out at the staff table. She glanced to the staff table and back at Camila and then let out a sigh and shook her head, "Well, her father is a Squib-the only reason the family puts up with him is he is from an old family and her mother is her parents' favorite in the family. Cathaline's and David's father is considered basically like a misbehaved pet that is left on the tree out of sympathy I think. And I suppose, it allows the two to still be recognized as official family members."
"But, the fact she is able to turn two professors onto her side isn't exactly surprising, though the crying is a bit interesting. She just shrugged off with a smile anything that was said in regards to her father this summer and happily nodded to everything," Wendy said with a roll of her eyes. "Go figure the Hufflepuff is a manipulative genius after all, who would have known?" You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face, but tell me how do my leftovers taste!

Timothy had been putting the stool away when he heard the news. Apparently Inari had decided to take a leave of absence, and he was now the headmaster. He paused, then walked back toward the Great Hall, prepared to give his first welcoming speech. Okay, so he wasn't in front of the Wizengamot, and he was instead in front of a whole hall full of students. Shouldn't be too difficult. He strode down the hall back to the Staff table and stood before the podium, turning to face the hall itself.
"Welcome back to another year of school for all students! I am Timothy Steele. For those of you who are new, I again welcome you to Hogwarts. I hope that you all happen to enjoy the school year, and you enjoy your time at the school as much as possible. There are a few announcements that need to be made. First of all, Headmistress Evernight has decided to take a leave of absence, and I have been appointed as headmaster in her place. Which means that Pandora Thorne, the head of Hufflepuff house, has now been promoted to deputy headmistress. Professor Amata Harlowe has been promoted to be the head of Gryffindor house, and I wish them both all the luck in the world in their positions." He looked around the hall and continued.
"Now, onto school rules. There will be no magic in the halls of the school. The forest is off limits unless you want to be missing limbs or have a death wish. Pay attention in class and you should do well. Now, I hope for everyone to enjoy dinner, and relax. Classes will begin soon." Timothy smiled and clapped, food suddenly appearing on the tables at the sound. He himself took a seat at the table, already thinking that this would be an interesting year for him and the students.

She thought to herself bored but her eyes lit up when he finally said what she wanted to hear.
Food appeared before her and decorated the long table and she sighed deeply, Well it was about time! The low grumble in her stomach made her quickly begin to reach out, making herself a quite large plate. Genevieve was small but living with four men n her house made her grow quite an appetitie. Of course she was calm, and still showed some restrain as she took her first bite of food. A sigh escaped her lips once she swallowed, "Never like back home but it should do...." Looking over at Benjamin she waited to take her next bite, "Once dinner is finish, do they take us straight to our dormitories?" The girl was actually looking forward to taking a look around, go straight to bed would be no fun.

Seymour raised a brow when a man, Timothy Steele announced himself and said he was stepping up as the new headmaster and announced some staffing changes. He figured it really didn't matter to him considering he wouldn't have known the previous staff. And then half groaned when Headmaster Steele began to go on about rules. No magic in the halls. Boring. Forest is off limits unless you wanted a death wish or missing limbs-sounded like the forests of Paraguay to be honest-and then the whole pay attention in class and you should do well, spiel. And that was when he clapped and food appeared on his plate in front of him-all boring blander foods that the Brittish seemed so fond of. Mashed Potatoes, some steak probably not overly exciting beyond tasting like meat, and some various vegetables. He poked his mashed potatoes with a sigh when Genevieve and said 'never like back home but it should do'. "Sí, sí," Seymour agreed. "I don't even have to taste it to know that. Mashed potatoes are like the most boring food in existence."
With a sigh he picked up a carrot and took a bite as he listened to her ask the question about after dinner being finished if they went to their dormitories. Seymour nodded and said, "More or less that is what I've always been under the impression from what my parents have said. Gryffindors live in one of the towers and Slytherins are in the dungeons-I think we'll be technically under the black lake." He shrugged.

Location: Great Hall: Slytherin Table Mira nodded. “Yes, her name’s Leonette.” She added before realizing something. The last name League was familiar. If only she could remember where. Didn’t her sister say that friend of hers was name David League? It sounded like it could ring a bell. Why didn’t she pay attention to her sister more? “David League… fourth year Ravenclaw?” she asked Wendy. “If I remember correctly I think their friends.” That was if she remembered correctly. Glancing over at the Ravenclaw table she scanned it for David she remembered from over the summer. “If that’s who you are talking about then I’m absolutely certain I’m correct.” She said pointing over in David’s direction.
Mira looked over when Camila mentioned Professor Powell. She remembered her sister saying something about never talking in his class unless it was on a topic. She’d shrugged it off then but maybe her sister was only trying to help her. "I'll keep that in mind." Shaking the thought she took into everything the older girl was saying. She’d clearly know who to stay clear of when it came to professors.
Upon the welcome introduction Mira listened to some extent. She wondered who their head of house was. Not that she ever planned to talk to them. She really could have cared less for the welcome greeting but at least they were nice enough to do that much she guessed. Rolling her eyes at the rules Mira never cared for them. However, when food appeared she couldn’t have been happier. “Finally.” She said before taking some food and digging in. Nothing like back home that was for sure. She secretly had to agree with Gene and Benjamin down the table. “I can live with this.” She added taking a bite and absolutely loving it. Status: Happy and Satisfied... Finally With: Slytherins... Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: My Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- Wendy narrowed her eyes at Mira when she said her sister's name, wondering if it was the girl Cathaline mentioned that David had been interested in over the summer. Some rubbish about it being cute. Cathaline hadn't said the girl's name though, just that she was in the music club. When Mira asked about his year and house and name Wendy sighed and prompted, "Yes. David League. Fourth year. Ravenclaw."
She glanced over to where Mira pointed at David who was barely touching his food and looking at a book. "Indeed," She answered with a sigh glancing back at the table. "David Sinclair League. Though I suppose he won't keep the last name forever and adopt his mother's maiden name eventually. After all, he technically is more a part of the Avery family than the League family. And, it wouldn't do well for an heir to forever have a different last name than the family he has rights to some day."
Drumming her fingers on the table she added, "You said that your sister and him are friends, though? Interesting... he didn't seem the type to bother much with friends from what I heard or saw of him. Or from what his sister said. This will be interesting to say the least," She ended with a small smile as she picked up her fork and a knife and carefully began cutting her meat listening as Mira took heed of Camila's advice for Professor Powell and Mira being happy with the food and stating that she could live with this. The food was good enough. It was slightly better than what was at the Avery family, though beyond her cousin, she had yet to see a decent cook in the family and since the family for privacy reasons felt compelled to get rid of their house elves, it left the family to actually take care of household duties themselves. End of the Year FeastOh you should've stayed home. You should've known better! First Year and Probably Purer Blood than Your Bloodline.
Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: Her Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- Wendy walked into the dining hall not particularly surprised to see that the Slytherins had yet to really arrive. It wasn't like some menial end of the year feast warranted arriving particularly early. The reason Wendy came when she did was she was already packed and was looking forward to the summer. She quite loved the Main Avery Manor if you had to ask her. She loved its history. She loved the grounds. And more importantly she loved how it was accessible on the sea with its own small beach. She could stay there for hours and enjoy the place. Also, it would be interesting to actually find out why the Head of the Avery Family felt like the Ravenclaw was a smart investment to declare as the eventual head of the family. It wasn't like David League had the best blood line considering his father was a squib, he was argumentative, obviously hated the Avery Family, and now apparently he was dating some Gryffindor. Granted a pureblood Gryffindor but still.
She looked over to the Ravenclaw Table to see David with a blonde Slytherin and his apparent girlfriend who had just shown up by the looks of it and the annoying Hufflepuff that was his sister pick up a book, change her robes colors back to the garish yellow and black of Hufflepuff from the Blue and Bronze of the table of the eagles. Actually it was sort of amusing to think the Hufflepuff could pull off a color change charm so easily, but was thought to be a squib for at least a decade. Go figure. And, the latest sibling of those two apparently was already showing magic. Wendy made a short chuckle as she tapped her fingers on the table and thought, Just maybe that bloodline isn't so horrible despite the squib in it.
To Wendy it was nice to return home. And the Avery Family Manor was very much her home. She lived there for several years now. She was given her education by the Matriarch of the Avery Clan. She put in the work to uphold the Avery reputation. She respected the Avery traditions. She was far more an Avery in her head than most of the members of the main line-and definitely more so than the blonde Hufflepuff who was remarkably ditzy though she could pull off the likable and obviously could learn some things, like languages. Maybe, Wendy would luck out and the Hufflepuff would end up having some arranged marriage with someone who lived very, very far away. After all, apparently the blonde Hufflepuff liked foreign languages so much why couldn't she just marry some respectable wizard in China or whatever once she graduated and stay over there. It would be one less headache for Wendy. Now she only had to wonder what stunts the oldest of the League children were going to pull.

I will keep quiet. You won’t even know I’m here. You won’t suspect a thing. You won’t see me in the mirror. But I crept into your heart... You can’t make me disappear- 'Til I make you! I made myself at home... In the cobwebs and the lies: Bored I’m learning all your tricks: ...what's her name, again? Jane? I can hurt you from inside: Wendy, other Slytherins I made myself a promise: Slytherin Table M O R V E N | G R A I N N E | V A S S B L O O D T R A I T O R | S L Y T H E R I N | S E C O N D Y E A R Morven was bored. The only friend she (sort of) had in her house was Camila, who so far was nowhere to be seen. The only thing she had to look forward to next year was electives, and that really just meant more homework. She'd never been naturally good at school and eager to learn like Elsie, or even willing to put in the hard work and effort like Newlyn. Morven knew she wasn't terribly book smart, but she figured she was well spoken enough and people-clever enough to get by without the scholarly brains. Maybe she should have just gone down to the Kitchens later tonight and wheedled food out of the house elves. She suppressed a sigh, and rested her round chin on her hand. At least most of her house mates weren't being obnoxious, nosy, or loud... unlike some other people, in other houses. They knew who they were.
She turned her attention to a redheaded first year with piercing gray blue eyes, who, while not right next to or across from her, was still close enough to hold a conversation with. Morven didn't know the girl's name, but was willing to bet it was something old fashioned, like Lucy. Or Clara. Maybe even Harriet. Whatever it was, it couldn't be worse than being cursed with what was traditionally a boy's name. Morven was still annoyed with her deceased mother for it. Her and Newlyn had ugly boy names, and Elsie lucked out with a feminine one? Of course, Elsbeth had supposedly been their maternal grandmother's name. If Morven ever found out she was named for some random great uncle, she was going to find the family tree and burn their dead, old face off it. Perhaps naming her and Newlyn for boys had been a passive aggressive insult in regard to them being undesired females, or something like that. Newlyn said that was ridiculous and their mother, and even Mitchell, had not cared what they were born, but Morven had her doubts.
She made eye contact with the girl and with a certain level of flat, bored, pretend interest, inquired "How did you like your first year..." Time to play the name game... "Willa, was it?" Probably not even close, but it was worth a shot just to see what the younger Slytherin's reaction would be. If she was furious, at least it would be more fun than just sitting here moping. See?
