Daniel stood in line with the rest of the students, waiting for his turn calmly. He wasn't worried about his sorting at all other than a little nervousness about the crowd; like he told Vince, it didn't matter what house he got as long as the people were nice and friendly. His best bet would probably be Hufflepuff; he knew he didn't have enough ambition to be in Slytherin, he wasn't nearly bold enough like Lucy to belong in Gryffindor (although it would be nice to be with his sister), and while he got good grades, it was almost purely by effort rather than intelligence.
Daniel watched as the line got shorter until eventually, the Deputy Headmistress called out his name. Suddenly aware of all the eyes on him, Daniel swallowed despite the dryness in his throat and strode up to the stool as quickly as he could and sat down. Everyone in the hall stared at him (do they have to do it in front of so many people?) and he could see Lucy sending him a reassuring smile from her seat at the red-clad table. He sent a nervous one back at her and waited. Hopefully the hat wouldn't take long to sort him.
Quote:
✣ Patient:
Daniel knows that that while patience might be bitter, its fruit is sweet. He'd always had more patience than his sister as he knew from experince that sometimes, things happen and there's nothing you can do but wait it through rather than complain about it.
✣ Hard-Working:
No matter how patient he was, Daniel knew that just sitting around and waiting wouldn't get him what he wanted, he had to work for it, especially since things don't come to him easily. This was especially true during school when he had little friends and had to work to get good grades.
✣ Cautious:
Because frequently and easily got sick because of his weak immune system, Daniel was always told to be careful by his family, to watch where he was going, what he was eating, etc, and as such, he grew to be really cautious who always thought first before doing anything.
✣ Kind:
Daniel is naturally kind and always treats people well, even when they didn't return the favour; he doesn't usually hold grudges. He considers it easier to be nice and kind to people.
✣ Reticent:
Daniel is cautious not only in his actions but with his thoughts as well. He'd rather stay silent and not say anything lest he gets in trouble and cause a scene, unless someone says or does something he strongly disagrees with.
✣ Submissive:
Growing up with a headstrong older sister, Daniel was more in the background, and he usually followed her lead in most cases. As such, he's more of a follower and is willing to go along with what his friends and family say and dislikes too much attention.
✣ Realistic:
Daniel isn't a pessimist, or optimist, but a realist. He knows things don't always go the way you want to and while he considers hope to be important (there was always a chance that things would work out for the best) but he also believes in being prepared for disappointment and knowing the consequences of one's actions.
✣ Selfless:
Daniel likes to be helpful and hates feeling like he's a burden. He knows that he might not contribute much as he doesn't consider himself smart, or interesting, among other things so he likes feeling like he's contributing to a relationship whether its friendship or with an acquaintance. He's willing to go out of his way to helpful, sometimes to his detriment.

Andy O'Farrell
first year // unsorted // muggle-born // gender-fluid
____________________________________________
Before Andy could have much of a conversation with anyone, the deputy headmistress was calling them into the castle. 'Already?' Andy thought with a nervous tightening in their throat. They could feel their legs shaking as they followed the others into the great hall, their eyes keeping to the floor as they felt the gaze of at least a hundred students all around them. But really, when the teacher had started calling off names, only one thought crossed Andy's mind. 'Please don't say my birth name out loud.' If that happened, Andy wasn't sure that they could ever recover from the embarrassment. There was a reason they were so adamant about being called by their preferred name.
Suddenly, it was their turn. "Andara O'Farrell," the voice called out, and they looked up with sheer shock and horror. Instantly their face became red hot, and their eyes darted to the floor as they trudged forward to the stool. Andy wasn't usually one to cry. But there were sometimes those certain circumstances where their eyes flooded without their approval. This was one of those times. The embarrassment they felt was overwhelming, and they felt the sudden urge to turn and run even though it felt like there was a hundred pound stone in their gut. Slowly, they sidled up onto the three-legged stool and felt the floppy sorting hat come down onto their head, grateful for the small courtesy of their eyes being hid from the room by its large brim. Apparently this hat could talk, which was pretty mind-boggling. How could a hat choose where you belong? Andy assumed that it was some sort of magic that let it analyze your inner thoughts. They mused on that for a while, waiting nervously for the hat to begin making its decision. It was all that Andy could do not to imagine just what everyone out there was thinking... Would they all assume that Andy was a girl, now? 'Please no,' Andy almost said out loud, their tears rolling. They hoped that, at the very least, they got put into a good house...

People can describe me as socially awkward. That is the be all, end all, but if anyone were able to make their way past my fumbling for words and failings at small talk, they would realize that I am very perceptive, empathetic, and have a tendency of over-thinking just about everything. (That just means I have a unique way of seeing things!) I am the most excited when I am learning new things or starting a new project, though I will rarely finish what I start. What I do, I do to keep my mind constantly occupied and away from the otherwise anxious thoughts which would drive me mad. It's a good thing I'm intelligent.

Aine hadn't said much of anything on the boat ride or during the walk up. She of course had said hello to the boy... or was that a girl... she didn't know but either way she had said hello to Andy when he (because Andy definitely sounded like a boy name to her... of course Kory was a boy name too.... and Kory was girl... so that confused the matter even more) had greeted her, but she wasn't much for talking right now. It was all too much. And she had always been more comfortable with silence unless she was jabbering on in gaelic, or talking to Dot. Even after living with an English family for many years now, she still preferred her native tongue. Thankfully like half her family spoke it anyways.
She was staring around the hall, nervously pulling on her rings, when her name was called. She took a deep breath and marched up to the front of the room where the stool was. She plopped down and the hat was placed on her head. 'Alright hat do your worst. I've got family everywhere. Hell I have family from whole different schools.'
■ EXCITABLE Aine is a kid, so she is of course excitable. She loves new things and could throw a party for just about anything and any reason. She is loving and sweet and happy to do most anything as long as she is with people she trusts. ■ CLEVER She learns things quickly and picks up on talents rather easily. She finds it easy to understand just about anything with a little bit of time and practice. Its not quite intelligence but just a knack for learning. She never puts herself to one talent, instead choosing to do many. ■ FEARFUL She's afraid of a lot of things. She didn't use to be, but with everything she has been through, its hard not to be. She cries at night a lot and has nightmares. She doesn't like to sleep alone and is scared of water, people, almost anything really. It takes a long time for her to warm up to people. ■ IMAGINATIVE Aine has a huuuge imagination. She loves to think about new worlds and create characters and play out dreams. She spends most of her time in her own head and dreams of becoming a writer one day if she can't be Indiana Jones. ■ PLAYFUL She is very playful once she warms up to you. She has at least 50 imaginary friends and will introduce them all to you if you ask. She loves to play games and chatter about her own lands and times. She will talk for hours once she likes you. She also loves to come up with new games and play old games. Anything that involves running or talking or having a good time is game for her. ■ ADVENTUROUS She's fearful but also adventurous. If she's with someone who will protect her and she trusts, she'll do almost anything. Literally she is game for anything as long as she is with someone she trusts. Tree climbing, wandering, hiking, story telling, camping etc. You name it, she'll do it, as long as she has her companion with her.

Calliandra Aileen Acton
11 years old
Unsorted First Year
Pureblood
With: the school
Location: The Great Hall
Wearing: School Robes
Calliandra looked around at the castle as she entered the Great Hall. It was massive, bigger than Calliandra had ever imagined it could be. And there were so many people, all of them looking at the little group of first years. She knew it wasn't the case, but Calliandra almost felt like they were looking at her, and she wanted to go someone where she could be by herself. She forced herself to keep looking around. Calliandra swept her hair back a little, out of her face. This is manageable. I just have to learn how I am going to work with it.
People were getting called to the front, where the professor was placing an old, ratty hat on their heads. The hat would then tell them where they belonged. Calliandra grinned a little. She could sit on a stool; any idiot could do that. She wouldn't need to worry about making a mistake with that.
Even though she knew it would happen, she still started when she heard her name called. "Calliandra Acton," the professor said, and Calliandra stepped forward. She had been standing rather close to the back of the group, and she had to slip her way through the other students. "Excuse me," she muttered, having to repeat herself as she accidentally bumped into other students.
She popped herself up on the stool, letting the hat settle on her head. Alright, Hat. I don't know where I want to be, so I am not too particular. Just make sure I go somewhere where I can show everyone what I am made of. And preferably somewhere I can avoid some of the idiocy.
Quiet Calliandra likes to stay quiet and watch others. She is more interested in knowing information than sharing it, and she often loses interest after compiling new ideas. She also likes to know all the gossip and talk, though she doesn't often share with others. Loyal She has a hard time making new friends, so those she does manage she wants to keep. She is willing to help them with anything they need, though she often doesn't notice their needs and needs to be told about them. Elitist She believes that people with a higher native intelligence are better, and she tends to dismiss those she thinks lacks a high enough IQ. Curious She would like to know everything about everything, and she is still young enough to think that if she works hard enough, it is possible. Studious She is proud of her history of good performance before Hogwarts, and she would like to continue that trend. She spends many evenings completing homework and reading, intent of having the top grades in the school. Arrogant She walks into every room expecting to be the smartest, and it takes a lot to prove to her otherwise. She also thinks she is the most rational person in almost every group possible.
Ambitious She wants to be the best student Hogwarts has seen in recent years, and she is determined to prove that she is the equal to any adult.
Roman was a bundle of excitement, nerves, and gas, all wrapped into one tight little bundle of black robes. He was trying not to bounce (he really needed to use the loo.) He should've asked the Deputy Headmistress while they were waiting out in the Antechamber. It would've been the perfect chance—except he forgot—but who wouldn't? The portraits were moving on the walls, waving and watching the first years, fire blazed bright on the sconces and suits of armor lined up against the walls standing at attention. The Great Hall was even greater than his aunt had described. It was HA-YUGE. With four long sprawling tables decked to the brim in their set colors like preppy chavs in matching Ralph Lauren clothes. Y'know, those wankers that coordinate their shirts and belts with their socks and shoelaces, s'ridiculous, but he was going to be one of those preppy matching wankers now, wasn't he? On the one hand, Roman didn't like that. He wanted to be different. On the other hand, blending in could prove more advantageous than his greedy little hearts desire to 'just have fun.' No. Roman was going to have to think on that a while before making any rash decisions. Or... y'know... Maybe just a quick trip to the loo. But he never got the chance. Not when his name, being near the forefront of the alphabet, had just been called and it seemed like a path was suddenly carved out for him when all the students moved. Or maybe that was just because he was pushing without really looking? Either way, Roman clambered onto the rickety three legged stool and sat with his curly topped head anxiously awaiting that ugly pointed wide brimmed hat.

🙗 DAREDEVILAn adventurer and free-spirit, he's always willing to jump in and get his hands dirty. He has a bad habit of leaping before he looks, though. And it's always hard to say no to a good dare or bet. 🙗 AMBITIOUSHe's driven to be the very best at whatever he does; unfortunately, what he wants isn't usually ideal. He doesn't want to be the leader or the boss, but he does want to reap all the benefits without having to put in the work. He wants to make connections to make it easier for him to do what he wants: have fun. 🙗 CURIOUSRoman is always open to trying new things. He loves to learn, but better then that, he loves applying that knowledge to test new ways to blow stuff up and break stuff down. He loves science, for that reason. And has been known to break open electronics to see how everything works. 🙗 OPTIMISTICRoman always tries to look on the bright side of things. Life should be enjoyed, and he tries to live it to the fullest. He doesn't back down from a challenge and he works hard to strive for what he has and what he wants. 🙗 SELF-PRESERVINGVersatile, he's always open to taking advantage of the situation at hand. Donella was proud to be in line to be sorted. It wasn't that she thought she was superior to say, the average muggle girl her age. It was just that she'd been fortunate enough to be the daughter of a witch and wizard, and here she was, standing in an ancient school, about to partake in an ancient tradition. She liked traditions. They were what kept the world spinning. True, she wasn't very excited, wondering where she'd go, but she was eager to join the house of her parents, and in a few years, her brother. Besides, she was starving, and the sooner it was her turn, the sooner she'd eat. Her mother was an excellent cook, but she'd heard the food at Hogwarts was legendary.
OOC:
■ BENEVOLENT Donella always starts off with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, for all her desire to do good at heart, she can be quite the zealot, and often gets ahead of herself, overwhelming others with her cheerfully ruthless 'can do, will do, no matter what' attitude. Donella is kind and and compassionate as the day is long, without an ulterior motive to speak of, but don't get in her way. ...It won't end well for anyone. ■ TRADITIONAL Despite her mother very much being the matriarch of her immediate family, Donella was raised in and clings to a more traditional fashion. Women lead through words and example, men through action and strength. Elders should be respected. Manners are not a suggestion but an obligation, and a little humility and respect goes a long way. While Donella is very much her own person and far more a leader than a follower, she does put a great deal of stock in more time-honored ideals, and looks poorly upon those who flout them. ■ FASTIDIOUS Donella is a firm believer in 'if you are going to do something, do it right'. She believes in taking her time, and that slow and steady will always wins the race. Reckless, impulsive behavior that doesn't take others into consideration annoys her to no end, as does sloppy work or unnecessary mess and disorder. Not to say that Donella is a clean freak, but she tends to accomplish tasks more slowly than most, not because she's dull-witted, but because she cares a bit too much. ■ STEADFAST Donella is extremely firm and loyal in attitude. She rarely changes her mind or wavers in her decision making, although she will take her time, and refuses to be coerced or pressured by those around her. Donella will never abandon a friend or forsake a belief, and her promises might as well be made of iron. She never says anything she doesn't mean, and very rarely tells even a white lie. ■ MODEST Donella is not one to put herself down or disparage her own abilities in an effort to get compliments from her peers, but she is very humble, and doesn't see herself as particularly talented in anything other than hard work and dedication. She's not often pretentious or trying to come off as smarter or holier than tho, and doesn't like showy or flashy things. Donella would much rather just be herself. ■ FORBEARING Donella is by nature a very patient, reserved sort of person. While she doesn't usually have very much difficulty getting along with others or making friends, she does have an easygoing sort of outlook when it comes to those she considers friends, and is willing to tolerate a lot in a relationship before she even gets annoyed. This indulgent attitude can sometimes blind her to the reality of situations and the people around her.
And we all still die, yeah, we all still die- What will you leave behind, oh, we all still die... Marching away from the stream; This tree, it will die without leaves. This tree, it will die, this tree, it will die. And we all still die, yeah, we all still die- What will you leave behind, oh, we all still die...

Myron didn't really care what house he ended up in, to be honest. Mam wouldn't care either way, even if her family had been all Gryffindor for generations- besides, he wasn't a Thorburn. He was a Hargrave, and had been since birth, no matter what anyone else said about it. He didn't think he was going to get Hufflepuff, but as for the other three... eh. So long as he got along with his housemates, or at least fit in, it didn't matter to him. His mother had taught him that house stereotypes were often far from accurate, and he didn't find himself drawn toward the ideas of any particular house. When his name was called, he approached the stool calmly enough, and hoped he wasn't a hat stall. He didn't want everyone gawking at him for minutes on end.
OOC:
■ BITTER Myron, having inherited what some term the 'Thorburn moodiness' from his mother's side, is prone to feeling slighted and resentful, although these feelings do have some ground in reality, seeing as although he always knew both his parents loved him and truly considered him their son, knowing he was the b*****d child and that his father seemingly couldn't be bothered to marry his mother stung. He's got a nasty habit of feeling constantly wronged, even when it's justified. ■ COURAGEOUS Myron has never been afraid to do the right thing or help someone else, even when it puts him at risk. He's not easily intimidated or cowed by other people, and while not as impulsive as say, his mother, won't think twice before speaking his mind or doing what he thinks necessary. He's very protective of his friends and family, and not afraid to show it. ■ KIND Despite his moods and sometimes prickly nature, Myron does try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and treats others the way he'd like to be treated. While not quite cheery or very outgoing, he is always willing to listen to someone else vent and offer advice, and he does care very deeply about the people around him, as he knows what it's like to feel ignored or left out. ■ OPEN-MINDED Myron may not go out of his way to make friends, but he is very tolerant of others and respectful, something trained into him by his mother, who often remarked that her worst fear would be to have a prejudiced snob for a child. Having grown up in a very non-traditional family, not much fazes Myron, and he is usually willing to just 'go with the flow', so to speak. ■ SHREWD Myron has never considered himself exceptionally clever; he likes reading and all, and does decently in school, but you could say he's far more street smart than book smart. He's not easily manipulated and is cynical enough to be far from gullible or naive, and thus usually prides himself on being fairly good at reading people and their intentions. ■ DECISIVE Myron cannot stand indecision or waiting around for things to change. Once he decides to do something, he does it. He can't stand people who are constantly waffling or changing their minds, and it's very difficult to change his mind on something once he comes to a decision. He'd rather be known as stubborn than hesitant
Nowhere Man, please listen; You don't know what you're missing! Nowhere Man, the world is at your command... He's as blind as he can be- Just sees what he wants to see- Nowhere Man, can you see me at all?

Charlie followed the group into the hall. Wow, the whole school must be in here. So much fanfare for the sorting of a bunch of 11 yr old. The upperclassmen had to be tired of this. Though he did recall people talking about a feast and even the man that led them here in the boat mentioned getting fed. That was likely the reason anyone showed to this thing. The food was quite the motivator. He was most fascinated by the ceiling it looked like the sky but it still felt like indoors. He was the third person or so to go up thanks to his last name starting with an A. He had seen the previous kids go up, sit on a stool, wear a hat that would blabber on before yelling a name for the house the kid was sent too. He didn’t truly care where he went. He just wanted to be in one that helps him do good while he was here. He had heard on the way here of people having long family histories to boast about. Having not known about his wizarding half made him feel left out. He just has to be the best here and make his own boast worth achievements. He went up to the stool and sat down. ’Alright hat guy just stick me somewhere where I can make a name for myself. Otherwise, to what you think is best, that's your job, after all, right?’ He thought as he was wearing it waiting for the hat to tell him his fate.

SCEPTICAL He never takes things at face value. He want proof before he will believe in something or someone. No one gives something for free, there's always a catch. QUIET It's not that he’s shy he just not one to start conversations. He more than happy to keep to himself. He will reply if prompted and if he has a question he will ask it. But if it doesn’t need to be said he won’t say it. SELF-RELIANT He would rather do things for himself. If he must then he will ask for help, but he doesn't like to. If given the tools he can usually be left to his own devices. He would rather trust himself than others. HAPPY Overall he's chipper and always in a good mood, he smiles a lot and can be friendly If he interacts. Overall he’s a pleasant person be around. Being sad gets you nowhere. MISCHIEVOUS That cling wrap on the teacher's lounge toilet or the stink bomb in the library? Yea Charlie likely did that. He likes jokes and pranks. Even more so if he's the one doing them. He can come off as a devil's advocate in some situations. Even if he disagrees with an idea he could still debate in favor of it. AMBITIOUS Charlie wants good grades and to be the best he can be and will try his hardest to get that. As such failure makes him sulk and try harder. His ambition makes him competitive but a sore loser. In extreme cases where failure (to him at least) isn't an option, he is willing to cheat. It just another way to win right?
The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking.... Hm, an interesting one, you are Ambitious, but it makes you worry too much And you need to learn that asking for help isn't a bad thing I think you'll be best off in Hufflepuff!

Wallis watched as the deputy headmistress announced the sorting was open and then glanced around to see if he could spot Leon. Of course that wasn't hard, considering that his brother was sitting at the Slytherin table with what seemed like a virtual cloud over his head. Wallis wanted to blame it on the fact that people kept trying to talk to his brother, but that was just Leon. He was always in a perpetually bad mood. He then snapped his attention back forward, realizing that he was waiting for his name to be called. When it was, he stepped forward to sit on the stool. He had no idea what was going on, and Leon didn't tell him. Jer did, but it had been a jumbled mess in his head and now he couldn't remember what his older brother had even said.
■ CALMWallis is deceptively calm in his family. He prefers to sit and think things through rather than jump to conclusions. This tends to cause friction with his older brother at times, but Wallis would rather not fly off the handle at an offhand remark. ■ RATIONALWallis is also decidedly rational. He uses reason and sound judgement, and refuses to act hastily. He'd rather have all of the information in front of him before he makes a decision, and believes that thinking outweighs any emotional response that he might initially have. ■ FRIENDLYRather than be aloof for his way of thinking, Wallis is decidedly friendly. He doesn't have an issue with making friends, and often goes out of his way to talk to someone or lend an ear if he feels they need it. However, like the rest of his family, once he's decided about someone, it's hard to change his mind. ■ POLITEWallis is perhaps the only person in his family that seems to have manners. He is courteous to adults, and tries to treat others with respect. This has sometimes put him at odds with his older brother Leon, but he doesn't see a problem with offering a handshake as opposed to a sneer like his older brother tends to do. ■ OBSERVANTWallis likes to watch the things going on around him. Whether it's from watching the people he's around, or observing events, he tries to catalogue what he sees and process it for later. This has ironically made him a pretty good judge of character as a result. ■ PLAYFULDespite his rational thinking and calm demeanour, Wallis actually enjoys just goofing off. He thinks it's always good to blow off steam by doing something he enjoys, and tries to have fun when he can. He'd rather not be a dour person, as he doesn't think that's actually within his nature to do so.

Elide could feel the happiness drain from her body as she saw the Sorting Hat, an uncertainty filled her instead and replaced that happiness that she had found in meeting Lilian. Looking down at her soaked sleeve Elide quickly pushed her hand back though despite the chill the cold sleeve gave. Turning her head back so she could see the front of the room, watching as the student's before her were sorted. She found her eyes drawn to the ground in contemplation, her family didn't have a legacy so it was probably all hands on deck at this point. She knew her mother wanted her to be placed in Ravenclaw, but it didn't matter at the point. No matter what house she was placed in she would have a higher expectation placed on her its just that if she was placed in Ravenclaw like her mother she would be expected to become more like her, and that was what gave her chills as she approached the sorting hat. All she had to do was get though this and then she could started lighting candles, finding secrets to hoard, and hopefully find a bed next to someone that wouldn't drive her up the wall with questions, preferably students that already knew about magic. Finally when her name was called Elide moved forward and sat down, a ringing going though her ears and filling her head as she found that she was less concerned about what house she would end up in and more concerned about not ending up like her mother, other then that she couldn't think of anything that might be a problem 'alright Hat!' Elide thought as she looked up at the sorting hat 'bring it on'
Elide is a studious but silent young lady with a penchant for speaking her mind when spoken to, she does not make friends easily and because of this she can kind of seem like she doesn't trust people but it's more due to her view of "Quality of Quantity" when it comes to people. She doesn't seem to have a problem speaking to people but at the same time she prefers not to, finding extra effort put toward relationships tiring or boring if people don't live up to her expectations. Never one to tell a lie but not to openly admit the truth she is a master at dancing around people's questions thanks to her mother whom was a master at manipulation, she prefers to not tell lies not because it's the "right thing to do" but simply because "lies become tedious to keep track of" so she will not lie to you, that does not mean she won't sneak around or that she does not keep secrets since if she is asked a question about herself or another she will outright tell it, with special exception if a friend or person says "this is a secret please don't tell anyone" as she takes things very literally and has a problem with jokes finding them inconveniencing or hardly funny. She does have a darkside within all of this linked to her curiosity and desire to find things out, her dark side isn't linked to the desire to do evil but more to the want to know how people react to certain things that are done or said, and due to this she does not have a penchant for apologizing to people even if what she has done is socially abnormal.
The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking.... You're a clever one, that's for sure, and cunning I think you just need a push in the right direction You'll fare well in Slytherin!

Byuch stood with his arms crossed, ignoring everyone in the hall and instead staring balefully at the hat on the stool. He was going to have to put on the damn ratty thing and get told what damn house he was going to, like he was just another damn wizard. Damn it. He didn't have a choice in the matter either. He'd been forced to go to the damn school and now he was stuck here. He glared at the deputy headmistress and when he heard his name, stormed forward and climbed up on the stool with a snarl. He sat with crossed arms and waited for the hat to descend so that he could get this over with.
■ INTELLIGENTByuch is a very intelligent individual. He can do numbers easily, and can easily find solutions to problems. This mostly comes from his goblin heritage, but he would argue that had he been born fully human, he would be just as smart. ■ AMBITIOUSWhen he gets a goal in mind, Byuch would do almost anything to attain it. Whether it's getting the top grades in his class, or his ultimate goal (which is to run Gringotts, but he doesn't think the full goblins would appreciate him being in charge), he strives for each with a single-minded determination. In this respect, he can be just as ruthless as his non-human heritage. ■ SHREWDByuch also doesn't jump into things rashly, rather preferring to examine each thing carefully before he makes a final decision. He doesn't care for people that act irrationally, and would rather watch rather than act if he has the opportunity to. ■ SNARKYByuch has his own thoughts and feelings on matters, and doesn't mind voicing them when he gets annoyed. He doesn't care who it hurts when he does speak up, thinking that they should have a tougher skin if they were going to piss him off. After all, he fully expects for people to do the same to him. ■ DISTRUSTFULByuch doesn't trust people easily. He knows the prejudices that come with him not being fully human, and after hearing the goblin side of the arguments regarding their own rights, he's more apt to be more critical of wizards as a result. He firmly believes that everyone has an ulterior motive for everything. ■ LOYALDespite his mistrust and snark, he actually is extremely loyal to those he is closest to. He would willingly walk into the line of fire if it helps a true friend, and would never back down from a friend in need. One must get past his rather prickly exterior to get to that point, however.

Gertrude Laura Adelwood Adopted Muggleborn First Year Unsorted
I go by Gertie...
Oh and I'm 11 years old...
Location:Great Hall
Gertie followed the adults to where they needed to go. She listened to them about the houses. How they were you’re family. She’d had two families in her life time, the orphanage and the Adelwood’s. To have another family she was overly excited. Though it was a different kind of family it was worth it. She stood in the group waiting for the best part of going to Hogwarts. Standing there she jumped on the balls of her feet. Her name not taking long to call…
“Gertrude Adelwood.”
Hearing her name Gertie bounced over to the stool. Taking a seat she looked at the sorting hat with a whole flood of different emotions. She was happy and excited and a bit nervous. She recalled what her mum had said, ‘Thometimeth the withest people know when to athk for thingth they want.’ Closing her eyes she thought really hard on it. “Sometimes the wisest people know when to ask for things they want… and I’d really like to ask to be in Ravenclaw like my mum and my cousin are. If it’s not too much trouble that is? I know you might not think I fit there but I might surprise you. I can be smart and artsy I promise.”Gertie whispered quietly to the hat. She had her figures crossed in her lap as her feet dangled from the stool. She just had to be like everyone else she knew… Even Hikaru was a Ravenclaw!

Personality
■ HAPPY-GO-LUCKYI’m happy... always happy. Sad sometimes too, but I never get mad. I don't like to be alone, that’s usually when I’m sad or when someone turns me down. Though, I’m never sad for long, that’s why I’m said to always be happy. Being happy makes everything so much better. ■ EVEN TEMPEREDLike I said I never get mad. Nothing bothers me. I'm never annoyed and I'm never angry. I get sad sometimes but that's the only way I'm ever bothered by peoples actions. Things just don’t get to me like they do some people. Unless it’s something positive… ■ HYPERI’m loud although most say I’m hyper. I just go, go, go and then I crash at the end of the day. I get excited by things that seem fun. Don’t get me wrong I can be quiet but I don't exactly like it. ■ ANTSYI just can’t sit still. There’s so much I could be doing. So, why would I want to sit in one place? It’s just more fun to run around and play all day long. Grownups just don’t understand. Why stay indoors when you can go outside and have some real fun and excitement. ■ HELPFULI love to help people specially my mum in the kitchen or feeding our birdies. I'll even help with cleaning. I don't mind. I don’t mind helping with kids or giving advice. Though, I’m not so good at the advice part. I try and that’s really all that counts, right? ■ NAIVEI think everything is fun and games and I don't take things seriously. I let bad things roll by like water under a bridge. I prefer not to think on the bad and only focus on the good. That includes ignoring the wrong people have done and only focusing on good. Sometimes that results with me thinking certain people are my friends when they really aren't.
The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking.... No one's doubting your brains or creativity But it's your heart I'm interested in Ravenclaw's nice, but I believe you'll flourish best in Hufflepuff!

Chance didn't care if he looked stupid or not carrying his guitar. Byuch had commented that he didn't need to carry it everywhere, but the taller boy didn't feel like it'd be treated well when he exited the train, and had carried it with him onto the boats. He was sure he'd gotten quite a few looks for it, and he readjusted his grip on the case. His dad was a squib, would that affect his sorting at all? He didn't know. He just knew that his dad didn't like magic, and now here Chance was, about to learn it. Was his dad going to be mad about that? He chewed the inside of his cheek, trying and failing to ignore how nervous he felt as he walked forward after his name was called. Sitting down stiffly, he just decided to ask the hat one thing."I'm not going to be kicked out of school for some stupid reason, am I?"
■ FRIENDLYChance is a friendly person, always going out of his way to helping people out and cheering people up. This tends to probably get him into trouble, since he could be friendly to the wrong people. ■ OUTGOINGChance happens to be a bit of an extrovert, always wanting to be around other people and making himself heard. He loves meeting new people, and tries to befriend people he doesn't know. ■ INTELLIGENTFor all of his seemingly dense moments regarding some people, Chance is fairly intelligent, picking up on things rather quickly and being a bit of a bookworm as a result. He is quite studious and tries his best in school, even if he doesn't understand the material being presented. He has no problem with sitting quietly and listening which also helps him to pick things up that are taught to him. ■ PEACEFULChance doesn't like violence in any form, and although he does have a temper, prefers to talk things out peacefully rather than resort to violence. He also happens to be quiet at times as a result, since sometimes it does take a bit of time to cool down when he gets upset or angry, and will walk away if he feels he's lost his temper. It doesn't always work however. ■ HONESTChance doesn't like lying, and prefers to be straightforward with the truth. This can get him into trouble with some of his relatives, as they don't exactly appreciate the idea of secrets being leaked. ■ SYMPATHETICChance loves to help out in any way he can. A lot of the time, that can result in him trying to assist those that happen to be in trouble, or those he feels are hurt in some way. He's pretty quick to realize who they could be, and would probably give someone the shirt off his back if he thought it would help them.

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking.... Ah, this one's easy! No question about it, You'll definitely fit best in Hufflepuff!
