Aimee blinked and laughed. "Do you really think I look like a normal person?" She chuckled and shook her head. "Owls... cats... whatever the hell a kneazle is... no I need something... different. Something exotic. ." She grinned and listened to her friend ramble about her crocodile's name and what she wanted to get afterwards and so on. She shook her head at the mention of Peter Pan in Scarlet. "My only book collection was from my grandmother, so I didn't have very much variety. I only had one version of Peter Pan and then Cinderella, Brothers Grimm, Alice in Wonderland, and a bunch of other classics."

Ray looked over at the blonde haired boy that was sorted before him, the one that seemed unsatisfied with his sorting. Not that he seemed to be the only one. Regardless, the dark haired boy decided to speak up when he heard the boy's racist prat comment. Despite the glares the kid was giving everyone around them. "Not all people sorted in Slytherin are racist prats. Just so you know." He told him straight and to the point. “Of course, I imagine someone like you probably won’t trust anything I say so why bother right?” Ray continued not caring what Leon was bothered or not. Even if he snapped at him for speaking it wouldn't matter. It wouldn’t be a loss to the dark haired boy.

Leon heard the other boy speak, and rolled his eyes. There had to be one of those here. Of course. He didn't care in the least bit if the kid liked him or not. His fingers itched for a cigarette, but ******** Michael had to take the lot of them and burn them. It was worse here, since he doubted that he'd be able to even find any. He decided hell, why not snark back? It wasn't like the guy was going to like him either way."Wa, ya go' tha' in wahn try. Congratulations. Did he really scream that he'd trust anyone that the boy assumed he'd suddenly disagree and change his mind. Barmy, the lot of them!

Ray waited for whatever would come out of the blond kid’s mouth. Truthfully he imagined it wouldn’t be anything worth listening too. Sure enough he’d been pretty much right despite actually listening to his less desirable housemate. Though, a thought occurred to him then. This less then pleasant individual would evidently be his roommate. Joy…
After Leon was done talking, Ray couldn’t help but snort. “Actually, all it took was seeing the look on your face to know what you were thinking.” He commented before adding. “It’s not that hard reading people. Take you for instance. You sit there as if someone is going to stab you in the back. Yet you don’t know anything about me or anyone else for that matter.” Glancing over to the other members of his house he noted the Morgan kid. “Though at least you aren’t like that kid over there.” He said nodding his head in Morgan’s direction. “Right off the bat I could tell he was against his placement. Probably thinks he was sorted incorrectly or perhaps he wanted a different house all together.”
“Either way I wouldn’t want to keep you from plotting you escape. After all you wouldn’t want to become completely mental like the rest of us.” Ray finished snidely. He wasn’t afraid to play the act of crazy. If that was what Leon believed there was probably no changing it. Nor did Ray see the point of trying.

ﻬஐ Caty giggled at her friend's retort asking about her supposed normalcy which she had to admit wasn't her friend. Especially if one took into account her backstory! Drama with a capital Soap Opera. When she said she wanted something exotic she had to think and wonder what exactly the school would or wouldn't allow. Wasn't there a list of sorts they could look at? Before she could think more on that Aimee told her that her only book collection came from her grandmother answering in negative to her earlier question but her eyes widened as she mentioned other books that she knew and loved. Except Cinderella. She was great in theory but in practice...ick. She'd always liked Mulan better. But she'd never heard of the Brothers before."What's 'Brothers Grimm'? Is it anything like 'The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy'? 'Cuz I found some old episodes on Netfilx and it's hilarious! Too bad it got taken down though." she pouted. She had really liked how the Grim Reaper was portrayed, mainly because she never imagined him with an island accent. Caty was about to ask about the other classics her friend had when she heard a familiar accent and whipped her head around trying to find the voice. It couldn't be Jer, he would've said something if he was here by now! Or at the very least Kenny would've told her if Jer had gotten some sort of job at Hogwarts! But it wasn't Jer, instead if was a boy around her age who just looked a whole lot like Jer. Like a whole whole lot. He could've been his chibi! Only the fact that it would be rude to just leave her friend and go randomly cling to a stranger was what kept the young brunette in her seat. Barely. She returned her gaze back to Aimee with a sheepish apologetic look. "Sorry! It's just...that boy over there, he reminds me of someone I know." Caty was slightly appalled when she felt her cheeks warm and tried to cover it with her hands. He was getting married for Pan's sake! And to an awesome woman like Gypsy!ஐﻬ

⊰Gia had the distinct feeling that Lori was trying to avoid whatever commotion she and Carver were creating. Which would've been all well and good had she not rattled the cage instead of nicely covering it up with a wool blanket. But it didn't matter, she wasn't going to sit with that arse tonight and take the next few days to calm herself to her usual respectable rate of possible homicide. She didn't see him yet and had to assume he was either skipping the entire thing (which honestly sounded like an awesome idea, damn him) or was just taking his sweet time getting to the Great Hall. Either one was good with her since it would lessen seeing his stupid face. Gargh, she didn't even know why she was so pissed! The Italian found Lori easily enough sitting with Tristan and his weird younger sister. She really shouldn't be able to talk in regards to weirdness levels but that girl took it to different heights. She flopped into the seat besides her friend and only gave a narrowing of the eyes to another student who had apparently been going for the seat as well. They thankfully got the memo and scurried to another seat far away. The teen groaned at seeing the first years being led up to the stool, she had thought by taking the long way in she'd at least get to the middle of the sorting. Not even a dent. Dammit. "Wake me when all the little runts are sorted." Gia muttered to her friend only giving a half-arsed wave to the two other occupants besides Lori before she placing her head on folded arms on the table. She just wanted this day to end! ⊱

Sera had expected the initial response Hamilton gave her but did not expect the follow up. Disclosing about what could be considered marital disagreements of one's parents was near treason in some circles! (Such as their own pureblood ones). The response demanded an equally forthright response or she would appear awful and sneaky and possibly lose an ally that seemed best to have. She smiled and shrugged, "It was quite typical but I feel like I'm better at keeping myself entertained than you. I spent most of the summer riding. Oh, Mother and Father let me go to Diagon Alley this summer on my own... sort of... I had my little brother with me and our elf. Apparently I can't be trusted entirely on my own..." She waved a hand and rolled her eyes, "Or maybe I couldn't be trusted on my own with my brother. I keep hoping Alec gets sorted into something absolutely unacceptable like Gryffindor and gets disowned. The sad thing is he doesn't seem to understand how horrid that would be."
She held her smile and said, "Maybe next summer we can join each other. I'm sure my family would love it. You don't seem the outdoors type, no offense, but maybe I can help you polish up your chess skills. We both know my reputation in that."

spaceElliott hadn't bothered with his own table, had instead broken away (finally) from Jojo and her obnoxious... Jojo-ness, to find Jesse at the Slytherin table. She'd pouted a bit, but at least elected not to follow behind him, which he'd feared she'd do. He figured she was hoping to find Emily. Whatever the case, he was just glad he wasn't have to deal with her anymore. He wasn't sure why he had to deal with her at all, actually. But she was Jesse's friend, and at least not on par with Benji for being annoying, so he generally ignored it and was at least somewhat polite to her... Or, he tried to be. She made it difficult sometimes.
spaceHe muttered a quiet (and admittedly terse)"Hullo,"to his boyfriend as he slid down into the seat next to him, immediately looking up towards the head of the room to try and gauge how long sorting would take. Hopefully not long. He was done with people tonight. Done with noise and talking and pretty much everything. He just wanted to eat his dinner, and go to bed. He didn't even know why he'd gone to sit with Jesse instead of his own table, except that it'd basically become habit. Not to sit at the Slytherin table, they rarely did that if ever, but to try and locate Jesse when he arrived and sit with him. Well, at least his boyfriend wasn't nearly as draining as most other people were... For some reason. He wasn't going to worry about the science behind it. Just be thankful. And hope that no one decided to bother him, and if they did, they at least waited until he'd gotten some food in him. He'd admit, his poor attitude at present might be just as much lack of food as it was Jojo. He didn't like sweets... And had more than once complained about the trolley carrying nothing but. His brother had sent him with something, but he'd eaten it for breakfast... Stress eating. Because Jojo was annoying him. So back to being her fault, then.
I shouldn't laugh, but I know I'm a failure in your eyes. I know it's daft, but I guess that I know it deep inside. It feels like we're ready to crack these days, you and I; When it's just the two of us, only the two of us, I could die. We're gonna separate ourselves tonight... We're always running scared but holding knives... But there's a black chandelier, casting shadows and lies.
Vander rolled his eyes. If only everyone he hated would just avoid him. If only. He flushed scarlet when she laughed, looking like he wanted to crawl under the table and die there. He turned even more red as she went on, and turned away from her halfway through it, burying his face in his hands like a child. "Shut up," he muttered, and then asked with a tinge of hopefulness. "Can we go somewhere after this and... you know?" He ought to have just said snog; he'd never flinched away from being crude before, but he couldn't without his voice cracking so he didn't and sat there, seething with annoyance and eagerness and honestly the combination made him sick.

The voice in his head was whimsical and airy. It caressed Ralph's brain with its presence, its words floating from the darkness of his mind's edges, "Now where should I put you?" The hat sounded like it was seriously considering him, "You have many traits that define you as two opposites, the question is where to put you though. You seem to be interested in Slytherin with your cousins," Ralph nodded in agreement, what a wise old hat, he thought. The hat ignored him, "But you could easily be placed in Hufflepuff instead..."
Ralph shook his head vehemently, "No, please, not Hufflepuff." Ralph whispered, terrified, anything but Hufflepuff, he added mentally. He tried to imagine himself in the Hufflepuff colors and grimaced. Besides, he wasn't a badger, he was a snake. Just like his cousins! It was in his blood. He needed to go to Slytherin.
The hat seemed to understand, "However, since you seem insistent...it had better be..." Ralph was holding his breath in anticipation. Every nerve in his body was on edge, waiting to hear the verdict of the magic hat. His whole life relied on this moment.
"Slytherin!" Ralph sighed in relief. Then the smile stretched across his face. He was in Slytherin! Everyone at the Slytherin table applauded and cheered, eager to add another wizard to their ranks. The other tables simply shrugged and waited for the next student to get sorted.
Ralph slid off the chair as the deputy headmistress removed the hat from his head. He smiled sheepishly at her before making his way to the long, green table. Already, the next student was being called after him, but Ralph wasn't paying much attention to the rest of his classmates and their ceremony.
"Ralphy!" Savannah was standing and waving him over, obviously also very pleased with the hat's decision. Tristan was clapping beside her, still seated at the Slytherin table. While he didn't seem as excited as Effy, Ralph could tell that Tristan hadn't expected the hat to sort him correctly. Did this make Tristan upset? Ralph hoped not.
Happy to have been sorted into his dream house, Ralph practically floated to his cousin, "Effy..." the first year reached out his hands for her. He plopped down on the bench between Savannah and Tristan and rolled his head to face his female cousin, "Effy, am I dreaming?" there were tears in his eyes with how happy he was.
It all felt too real. Too good to be true. Here he was, sitting with his cousins at Hogwarts. For years, Effy and Tristan would come home and tell him magical stories about the school they attended and now he was here. Now he could have his own stories and adventures and friends. With Effy, of course. He would be able to see them both now, just like at home.
"Hi! I'm Ralph," the boy waved at Tristan's friend. Ralph had never met this girl, but he also had no idea if Tristan or Effy had mentioned this friend of theirs. So he acted like he didn't know her and shook her hand, reaching clearly across Tristan to do so, "Don't worry about Tristan's face, Effy says he was born frowning," Ralph winked and smiled at Tristan.
Oh boy, was he going to get it! Ralph knew his cousin was gonna pick on him later, but this was too good to pass up. It was totally worth the impending doom that Ralph knew awaited him later.
"So, when do we eat?" Ralph looked up and down the table as he swung his legs around on the bench. He was now faced towards the center of the table, examining his house mates for the first time. They all seemed very appalled by Ralph's presence, but he didn't care about them; Effy and sometimes Tristan was all that mattered. They were his family, after all.
In each of his hands, the first year Slytherin had a piece of silverware, eager for the feast that he heard so much about to begin. His mouth was beginning to water with all the foods that he recalled being served. Pumpkin tarts, pork chops, and all the potatoes he could want! Ralph could count the different ways he could eat a potatoe: boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, mashed potato... he looked at Effy with the wild stomach lust of any eleven year old.
I'm gonna take what's in front of me tonight Sometimes you just gotta float Sometimes the waves are gonna crash you to the shore, whoo Sometimes the peace comes And settles your soul Sometimes the angers so strong You just wanna lose control
Timothy had been watching the sorting quietly. However, when the stool was placed away, he stood patiently and walked over to the podium. He looked over the crowd of assembled students, ready to welcome them to the new school year."Hello everyone, and welcome back for a new school year. For those that are just now beginning their education at Hogwarts, I would like to extend a welcome and hope they are diligent in their studies. Sadly, as all the older students will tell the younger, I must make the usual school announcements. There is to be no magic used in between classes in the halls, and as anyone in the school will tell you, the name Forbidden Forest is not a misnomer, and instead should tell you that there are things in there that will not hesitate to have students for snacks. The other school rules are posted for people to peruse at their leisure, but considering these are the most frequent violations, I must bring them up here. Now, let us sit back, tuck in, and enjoy the feast before the evening ends."Timothy took a seat, ready himself to eat.

Leon ignored his classmate and instead continued to sulk. Whether the other kid liked him or not wasn't a big deal to him. After all, he knew for a fact that he'd rather be anywhere else instead of here. He rolled his eyes as the headmaster stood and spoke, thinking that the guy wasn't serious. Forbidden Forest, feh! They probably didn't want people to wander into it and get lost or some other rubbish. He crossed his arms, waiting, and when the headmaster sat down, food suddenly appeared on the table. The Cockney boy stared, then ducked his head under the table before returning to stare at the table again. Where the hell had that come from?"Wot th' bleedin' bells jus' 'appened? Where th' ******** did all this come from? Bleedin' magic, can' do nuffink wit'ou' showin' off, 'parently."He sneered and crossed his arms, suddenly losing his appetite. They could do whatever they wanted to, but the truth remained that he wasn't going to follow with what they wanted. Feeding him something that was probably drugged was potentially one of the ways they trapped people here. His stomach gave a growl, but Leon ignored it, content to glare at the offending food before him.

Raymond looked at Leon and just shook his head. If he wanted to ignore him then fine. Turning his attention to the headmaster he listened to the rules. Stay out of the forest... no magic in the hallways... Honestly Ray didn't care. He'd play by the rules but truthfully it wasn't something figured he needed to worry about. When the food appeared before them he glanced over at Leon. Why was he trying to figure it out? Shaking his head, Ray put a variety of food on his plate. "House Elves..."He commented to Leon without any explanation. If he really wanted to know what he meant, he'd talk to him right?

Jesse smiled and nearly laid down in Elliott's lap, but recalled just where he was and instead settled for sliding a bit closer to him. He'd noticed Elliott's bad mood, and didn't want to exacerbate it, but it just happened to be one of those things he couldn't help. At least the sorting was over quickly, and after the headmaster spoke, he started piling his plate with food and glanced over at Elliott. He grinned, his mind drifting elsewhere before he started on his plate. No, right now during the feast was not the right time to even attempt anything of that nature, and well, he was hungry. It wasn't as good as Kenneth's cooking (and he really needed to ask Kenneth over the summer to teach him how to actually cook) but he enjoyed it all the same.
When he had finished eating, he waited a bit to let the rest of the first years eat, and then looked over Elliott's way. "So, what do you think? After I lead the first years to the dorm, we find a good place to snog? Prefect's bathroom should be open, or if not that, we could always go for a closet. You're not going to be much in the mood for it once tomorrow's classes start, since I know you're going to be studying for NEWTs." It wasn't a lie. He knew Elliott pretty well. The Ravenclaw was certainly going to be pushing for O's during NEWTs since he didn't get all O's during OWLs. Jesse had managed that, but he attributed that to actually studying just as much as Elli did. The big problem he had was trimming down his class selection for the year because of it.
When the time came, however, he stretched and looked over the first years. Someone had to lead them to the dorms, and he doubted that Wendy was going to bother. Something told him she was pretty much well, yeah. Not going there. He stood, trying to get the younger kids' attention. "Okay, first years, listen up! I'm Jesse Calvert, and I'm one of the prefects for Slytherin house. As such, I'm going to be showing you to your dorms. C'mon, let's get going and you'll finally have a chance to see the dungeons of the castle." He waited until he had every first year's attention, then led them through the Great Hall to the dorms.

She narrowed her eyes dangerously at Evander when he muttered shut-up. Crossing her arms she waited for him to go on and rolled her eyes as he half asked his question. "I know what?" She asked widening her eyes in mock innocence. She sighed, "You tell me to shut-up and then ask..." She shook her head, "I should be present just in case they need me. I have the very important job of prefect to attend to. Besides where would you propose we go? Some broom closet and risk cobwebs and being late for curfew? I mean we could be completely shameless and use the common room like some couples but I'd rather not that reputation with all the first years."
She glanced up as Jesse took lead of the first years, "Oh look, the lesser prefect is making himself useful again. Lovely. I love when he takes over the boring work. Almost makes his existence excusable... his boyfriend at our table, not so much. Regardless..." She turned and said with a smile, "Do you want me to shut-up, Evander darling, or do you want to go somewhere to spend more time in my company, I was unsure what was your preference."
She smiled widely, an expression unusual, but showing how much she was truly enjoying herself. And, oh how she enjoyed toying with Evander. Of course she'd love nothing more than to find some cobweb-less secluded corner of the castle to risk getting caught in till only ten minutes before curfew, but she wasn't going to give Evander the power of betraying how eager she was for that. There was some perks of Evander not being prefect, such as more time to spend snogging, as no doubt she would have to spend some of their free time together helping tutor him. She refused to marry a man who failed any of his owls unless it was a senseless one like muggle studies, and even she managed to pass that OWL with some work.
