Mea heard Rosa's warning just a second too late. He was more focused on the fact that she said the bats were probably real! Where did they even find that many bats?! His Nain had a bat hotel behind her greenhouse, so maybe the school did too... if so, he'd have to look for it! After his frantically signed apology, Aina seemed more interested in the bats. Mea signed the word "up", then tilted his head back to look upward to the ceiling. Fluttering around the floating candles were the bats, seemingly in a graceful dance.
He asked about candy, which seemed to fall on deaf ears.... literally... until Alice kindly repeated the words. Thankfully, it was no harm done as Aina had also gotten distracted with the bats. She did, however, want to go get candy as well. "We should. I bet they got the super yummy candies. At least it's not as bad as my neighbor at home. He gave out fruit!" His voice got a little louder at the indignation of the old man giving out healthy treats... even if he was a doctor! Mea watched her sign about makeup, not really caring too much. He knew his Mums wore makeup, but he didn't have much inclination to do the same. Then she complimented their spidery outfits. Mea grinned brightly as he signed, his loud voice adding emphasis to the motions. "Thanks! It was a lot of ideas before we picked this one. Like. a LOT of ideas. Took us ages!" He laughed, remembering the whole family trying to offer costume ideas. Including Grampa Milo, but his were aaaaaaaaaall pun themed. Thankfully, Lewis humored him so Mea and Rosa didn't have to.
When one of the other kids, he thought her about Alice and Seb's age, walked over, Mea fiddled with his ears to try and hear her super quiet voice before immediately needing to turn them back down. How did hearing people deal with all this noise all the time?! It was chaotic as all get out. He looked over at his cousin, seeing her expression and wondering if she was holding back a screech. Apparently Ella's princess costume was something super fancy, so Mea offered a smile toward the girl. How was it that she was older by a couple years at least, yet he was already her height? Oh no... were the Abramses heights contagious?

Ella immediately worried about the business of the Great Hall. Perhaps she should have chosen a quieter locale? Alice said she was gorgeous, prompting the smaller brunette to blush. Rosa agreed, saying she looked like actual royalty! Oh wow, maybe Ella did feel a little better about her outfit choice! "Thank you guys..." she whispered, voice a little softer than even her normal. Alice again commented on Ella's dress, so the brunette figured she'd add in more information. "Thank you! Linsey made the dress based on a picture I drew up. A-and Milan had his friend make the tiara too. All just for me."
Now that was something she still couldn't believe. So many people had helped with this outfit.. all for her! The hints of gold sparkled in her dark eyes as Ella carefully lifted up the skirt of her dress and did a little twirl. Doing that showed off the shimmers in the fabric, making her feel even fancier. "That's like... the fanciest dress ever, Ells! It also looks super itchy!" Sebastian added, laughing merrily. "Oh, d-don't worry. The inside is a silk, I think? Something nice." She nodded, still really happy that everyone seemed to like her outfit. "Oh, Sebastian, do you know who is doing pictures today? I-I told my family I would get some for them." If any of her friends would know, he would. She didn't notice him wrinkle his nose at her choice of name for him, but he did fish out his camera from the bag he'd brought along with him. "I'm one of them! Eddie's got his camera too, I'm sure. Just don't know where he's at..."

When Ella asked who was doing pictures and Seb answered that he was, Alice smiled widely. She already knew Sebby was doing pictures, but she definitely needed to get her picture taken too. "Ooh, I need my picture too! And you need yours! Momma would love to see your outfit!" Alice was practically squealing with delight. This was her first real Halloween celebration so far and she was loving it. Aina seemed to be engrossed in her conversation with Meallan and Rosa and the girl felt alright leaving her with them. "Alright Sebby, get Ella's pictures first since she asked. Then me and I'll get pictures of you. Then maybe Ella can take pictures of us together?" She phrased the last bit as a question, turning to look over at the girl in question. Alice did want some pictures of them together and she did want them all together... but they'd have to find someone else to take that picture... Unless Sebby knew of a way that she didn't to make the camera take a picture of all three of them.

It was time for the Halloween celebration and Vikram was jazzed about his costume for the whole shindig. He'd decided to dress up like Prince Charming, since in his mind, it fit with his whole... everything, really. He went all out with the costume preparation over the summer, ordering most of the items online and having them shipped expedited to make sure they arrived ahead of time. The teen spent a fair bit of time in preparing his costume, making sure that everything looked correct. His shoes were properly shined, his buttons and crown sparkled, and everything sat correct. He even made sure that the cape he'd chosen to add sat right, adjusting it several times in front of the mirror before he even dared to leave the dorm. He tapped the scepter on the ground as he walked, a wide smile gracing his lips as he simply enjoyed the walk. Of course the costume was all a pun in his mind, since his Cinderella wouldn't be dressing up the same as him, he knew. Also, she didn't know she was his Cinderella... there was that... But whatever, he was still going to enjoy the time and plus, free candy! He was a teenager, after all, and as a teenager, any chance for candy was to be snapped up. Striding into the Great Hall, he spotted many of his friends, but most of them were caught up in their own conversations. The teen strode over to the food table to peruse the drink options and perhaps sneak a little something into his own punch glass. Brown eyes shifted to observe the gathered students, wondering if his Cinderella was even going to make an appearance at tonight's... ball.

Okay, so most holidays were... boring, but there was one specific one that Csuri didn't mind. She didn't like dressing up, but she did like getting free chocolates. Of course, the only way to get them from the professors would likely be to dress up, which was .... less than ideal. Having finished a new steampunk sci-fi series, Gears of Volcania, over the summer, Csuri made sure to locate some pieces that would work. No one would get her outfit, except maybe like two others in the school that read similar books, but whatever.
The only downside to this outfit was that she'd have to forgo her usual skirts for jeans, which was probably going to annoy her all night. Then again, she really only anticipated showing up for exactly as long as it took to secure candy. Hes, she knew, was planning to spend the evening with Kasamir, meaning Csuri would likely be alone the whole time. Not like she wanted to third-wheel anyway. She pulled her boots on, stomping around a bit to get used to the heels. They were a bit higher than her daily, but definitely doable.
After she deemed herself ready, Csuri put on her hat and headed out. She was a little late, but that just meant the common room was mostly empty, save for a few odd souls who seemed more interested in studies than candy... fair. She hoped to be back and joining them within the hour. Honestly, if it weren't for the possibility of chocolate, she never would consider something like this. With a sigh, she left the dungeons and started into the danger. Waving a simple hello toward Hes as she passed by, Csuri walked into the... surprisingly not as busy as expected Great Hall. Now she just had to infiltrate the candy stash. First, she slipped over to one of the tables, grabbing a bat-shaped chocolate cookie.

Oh how quickly the conversation had turned! What had been about costumes and friends was now about work... for him, anyway. With his trusty camera out, Seb fiddled with the buttons, trying to account for the lighting differences. He was glad he'd brought extra film, especially since he wasn't the best with this super fancy camera Eddie had brought along. Alice said she wanted hers done, plus one of him. "Mama's already seen mine! But I think she'd really like one with all my friends!" He grinned over at Alice, glad she seemed excited.
With the kids in a group, Seb led Alice and Ella over to a slightly less busy spot. He first snapped a few pictures of Ella, who did another small twirl to showcase the dress. "O-okay. Alice, it's your turn, okay?" Ella said, stepping on her quiet feet over beside Seb. Once Alice was in place, he snapped some pictures of her too. He then looked over at Ella, carefully instructing her on how to use the camera. After she seemed confident enough, he hopped over beside Alice and started to pose with her and Zoot. Oh, Mama would be so very happy! And, it seemed, his silly poses were making Ella laugh too, even if he could barely hear her over the chaos of the Great Hall.

Vikram was enjoying his cup of punch with a little something extra and watching the assorted kids and staff celebrating. He wasn't usually a big Halloween fan, not since coming to Hogwarts, at least, but he was certainly having fun. His eyes were scanning the crowd when he spotted someone he'd hoped to see, but hadn't expected. Csuri came in dressed in something steampunk... he recognized the outfit style as a skin from one of the video games he played, but didn't recognize the character. Probably someone from one of the dozens of books she read. He shrugged at that thought, then watched her as she headed over towards the refreshments table, which was where he was posted up, watching the party. Taking a sip from his drink, Vik glanced over and said, "Honestly, I figured you'd be studying. You should try the punch, it's really good." He flashed her a smirk, then sipped from his drink again. His flask was securely hidden in his pocket, so there was no way she'd know he spiked his own drink. He wasn't the type to spike the entire punch bowl... at least not at a party with the younger children present. "So, steampunk something or another? Who are you dressed as?" he asked, feigning distaste but actually curious about her costume.

Aaaand as soon as she stopped by the snacks, there was Vikram... just being annoying. He commented on her not studying, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "I fully intend to go back to studying. But between my patrol route and the desire for free candy... I figured I could take a few moments out." Csuri bit into the cookie, very glad that it was a super rich chocolate. But she did glance at the punchbowl... which Vikram specifically said to try. "Why should I? Did you do something to it? Because if you did, I'll have you in detention faster than you can quip off." She sent over a glare, silvery eyes studying his dumb smug face for any hint of wrongdoing.
After it seemed safe enough, she went back to the chocolatey treat. Maybe she should've gone as someone entirely different so no one would notice her. But then, it was really hard to wrangle her messy curls into cooperation long enough for something like that. "Yes, actually. I opted for Scarlette Kipps, from the Gears of Volcania series. It's really good." She wondered if he was genuinely curious, but figured he'd probably end up teasing her somehow. Csuri hesitantly poured a small glass of punch, using subtle wandless magic to try and discern if anything had been done to the punch. When it came back clean, she took a sip. "If you're dressed up as a Disney prince, I forget which one... I'm guessing you're waiting on someone?" Csuri asked as she turned away a bit, grabbing a brownie and nibbling on that. Her tummy would be sore tomorrow, but at least she'd be full of chocolate.

The teen snorted a little when Csuri said she was going to go back to studying in just a bit, thinking she really needed to just... relax and cut loose a little bit. He chuckled when she asked if he did anything to the punch. Did she really think that low of him? Probably, but much like Krishna, he was a trickster at heart. Vik watched her cast some spell on her cup of punch, probably seeking out toxins or something, the whole time shaking his head. He couldn't take the smirk plastered on his face off, just wondering what was running through her mind. She did finally tell him whom she'd based her costume upon, and much like he'd guessed, it was a character from one of the many books she'd read. He'd never heard of it, but book reading wasn't really his thing. Maybe if they made a movie about it, then he'd be into it... She guessed at his costume as a Disney prince and he smirked. "Yeah, I'm Prince Charming."Your Prince Charming. he thought to himself, which brought his silly smirk back. "Uh, but no. I'm here stag. Just... watching everyone have fun." He indicated towards where Seb, Ella, and Alice were taking pictures and just having fun. "Ah, to be young," he said in mock wistfulness, then chuckled. Glancing over at Csuri, he saw her eating another chocolate snack, then he asked, "Do you have a thing for chocolate? Because I'm pretty sure Professor Goodwin has some of those Swiss Milka bars." Vik looked over towards where the Professors were handing out candy, looking to see if he could spot the signature purple wrappers.

For a moment, Csuri looked out at the other idiots, all laughing and having fun... she wished she'd just stayed in her room. It was loud, chaotic... and somehow made her feel more alone than actually being alone. Vikram chortled as she examined her drink, but Csuri didn't let her expression falter. He had probably done something weird, maybe not communally, but in general... otherwise why would he ever have mentioned it? At least it tasted fine. At least it wasn't pumpkin flavored. Seriously, what was wizard-kind's obsession with pumpkin? It didn't make for good juice!
When Vikram said he'd opted for Prince Charming, Csuri rolled her eyes hard. What a dork. But he had that dumb grin on his face, which made her instantly want to leave. When he continued, saying he was here alone, just to watch people, Csuri scoffed. "What creepy wording" came her simple reply. Before she could leave, she wanted one of those brownies. Vikram gestured to some of the people being silly, saying something about being young. "What are you, ninety? You're barely a year over them."
Another eye roll escaped before the achieved her goal of brownie collection. As she started eating, he commented on her supposed 'thing' for chocolate. Csuri wanted to reply snarkily, but then he provided information on perhaps the biggest candy score. Apparently Professors Goodwin had Milka bars. Oh man, they were always so good. Csuri pushed up to her tiptoes, despite her taller than normal boots in effort to see the chocolate situation from them all. "Sounds like that's my next stop then. Gotta get them before they're all gone." Of course, she planned to try and get chocolate from them. Better sooner than later. Csuri finished her punch, then nodded once and started walking toward the professors. Her goal was to get candy, stop by the table for another brownie, then get back to her room. She had a lot of classes to study, after all, and not having her annoying roommates bother her for a few hours seemed like too good a deal to pass up.
