Dani barely caught sight of Bludger Eli deflected toward her before it struck, and she heard ribs snap like dry twigs when it caught her in the right side of her chest. 'I was expecting that; maybe not quite so soon, but I was expecting that,' she thought, as she tried not to scream. 'Maybe I should just start practicing while injured too,' she added to herself sarcastically, noting the dearth of Beater action from her teammates.
After coughing up a stream of spittle and blood, Dani continued her search, hoping she could get a chance to spot the Snitch before Lexine got a shot at it.
