Serene's little universe was restored to peace once her mind was settled back into the simple track of "I am the prettiest." She had little time for smug superiority, however, as her ruddy visitor was suddenly hurled at her. The sparkling slime had only time for one startled squeak before Knight sent her bowling face over bottom, right off of her habitat and toward an empty, overturned pencil cup.

Moon goddess slime. Corner pocket.

Meriko typed away in blissful ignorance, completely absorbed in her current task, and Squishy, with his back turned to his station-neighbor, also noticed nothing.

The lavender blob flopped over to the edge with a suprised look on her face.
Gomen no sai...

Knight laid on his side with spirals in his eyes.

Nani...Why did you do that?
Angel walked over to where Serene had fallen, and carefully lifted the pencil cup while peering into it.
Are you okay, Serene?

I didn't mean to! I swear it!!!

Angel was greeted by the sight of a softly shining Moon Goddess slime wedged down into the bottom of the cup. As Serene's face was pressed into the base, Angel could likely not hear the squeaks clearly. Probably a good thing, whether or not Angel could understand the little squeaks and chirps that composed the slime language. Serene wasn't being polite.

At Angel's question, Meriko looked up from her laptop to look around the surface of the island.

"What's going on?" she asked curiously. The slimes - the ones she could see, at any rate - did not seem to be in a state of panic, so whatever had happened it was apparently not an emergency level occurrence.

Liz stood at the door way to the lab and took Mamimi and Canti out of their little pockets. She held one slime in each hand and raised them to the level of their face.

"Listen carefully you two! I know you are excited about being here, but you need to be on your best behavior! If either of you start misbehaving, we'll leave. No questions and no protest! You understand?" The slimes wiggled in agreement. They knew when Liz was being very serious and this was one of those times.

"Good. Now, enjoy yourselves!" She smiled and slipped them back into their pockets, which were specially designed to hold them safely while allowing them to look out at the world around them.

Liz opened the door to the lab and walked in, taking care to wash her hands at the sink by the door. She looked around and saw Meriko and another person she didn't know.

"Hello! My name's Liz! And these are my slimes! The purple one is Mamimi and the grey one is Canti!"

After introducing herself and her slimes, Liz started moving around the lab. She didn't say much, just looked at the things she saw. Occasionally she made comments to her slimes. The little slimes, however, weren't paying much attention. Both were eagerly looking around trying to catch a glimpse of the famous Squishy.

Because Knight lied to me.

Knight regained consciousness and looked at Nani with wide squishy eyes. I didn't mean to anger you!

Liar

Knight quickly rollled himself off the habitat and into Angel's left pocket as Nani bounced over to Angel's shoulder while still glaring at Serene.

Angel stood up and placed Serene back in her habitat. Apparently, Nani started having another fit... She said as she sighed taking Nani in her hands and squeezing her gently, the slime's eyes widened to full circles twice the size of the orginal size.

"Ah," Meriko said non-committally. Her own shimmery little slime didn't seem to have taken any damage. No harm, no foul. The newest visitor was greeted with a smile and nod, and then Meriko went back to typing. It was hard to break away once she'd settled into a certain rhythmn of thought.

Serene was extricated and replaced on her grassy habitat to recover from the sudden abuse. Rather stunned that bad things could actually happen to her, the most beautiful and worshipped slime in all the world, she simply huddled up near her mirror and stayed quiet.

(ooc: I will probably not be here all too often to roleplay as I take a crash course in Modding. *hee* Feel free to roleplay "around me" if you just wanted to RP in the lab environment. ^^)

Liz returned Meriko's smile and nod and then began a little tour around the lab, talking quietly to her slimes. She didn't want to bother or interrupt Meriko's work. It look very difficult and important.

Liz, Canti and Mamimi made their way around the lab and finally Squishy's habitat came into view. As soon as they spotted the famous slime, Mamimi and Canti started bouncing in excitement once again. Liz quickly hushed them. "I'll only take you over to introduce yourselves if you stay quiet. You don't want to bother Meriko, do you?" The slimes settled down a bit and Liz put them on the tabletop near Squishy's habitat. The purple and grey slimes moved eagerly towards Squishy to introduce themselves.

Liz was happy to sit back and watch. She didn't understand most of the stuff in the lab, as she was never very good at math or science. The slimes were having a good time and that was all that mattered. This trip was for them. They need to learn how to behave around others. The only other slimes they knew were each other. Liz hoped that Squishy would be tolerant of them and their eager awkwardness. Once they calmed down a bit, then it would be safe to introduce them to the haughty looking slime in the other habitat.

Liz gazed around at the lab, trying to guess what all the stuff was for. Meanwhile, Canti and Mamimi amused themselves showing off for Squishy. Well, Mamimi showed off for Squishy, while Canti watched the beautiful Serene. Liz was distracted, so she didn't notice the little grey slime's interest. Canti was slowly gathering his courage. Finally, he worked himself up enough and he started heading over towards Serene's habitat. The movement of the grey slime caught Liz's attention, but it was too late to stop him! She just had to wait with her fingers crossed and hope. For what, she didn't quite know. A happy ending, she guessed.

Canti moved resolutely toward the beautiful Serene. When he got close enough, he stopped. Then, he exectuted what looked like a bow. Liz held her breath. Serene turned towards the grey slime and looked at him for a very long moment. She made a noncommital noise in his direction. Then, she turned back toward her mirror. Canti sat in the same place, not quite sure about what happened. As it began to dawn on him, he slumped down a little bit and started slowly moving away. Mamimi, who had seen the whole thing rushed over to meet him. In her enthusiasm and worry, she bowled right into him and knocked the poor thing over. She nuzzled close against the dazzled Canti and made soothing little noises.

Liz sighed in relief. It could have been worse and thank goodness Mamimi was there to comfort Canti. She rushed over and picked up the two little slimes. They snuggled close together in her hand. Instead of seperating them into their individual pockets, she just held them as she said her goodbyes. "Good bye and thank you for allowing to visit. Have a nice day!" Liz waved with her other hand and headed out the door.

Kelly quietly tip-toed over to the sink, turned on the tab, and washed her hands. Her hyper-active slime, Slimy was bopping all over the place. Eek. Why does slimy have to be so hyper?! Why can't he be like Cuddles? She thought to herself. She quickly zoomed over, and scooped him up. "Shhh, Slimy, this is a lab, not a playground. See?" Kelly pointed over to a lady, who seemed to be working at her little corner. "Please, quiet down.." Slimy obeyed, at least for a second. Kelly gave a little gasp as she almost tripped over Cuddles and Slimy, who were racing away. (1)

Aie...Look at the time I must be going now. She takes a bows towards Meriko and turns away to head towards the entrance with a slightly frazzled look on her face. Still with Nani in hand squeezing the lavender slime gently every other second.

Unlock the door. Lights on. Wash hands. Make sure nothing's dead. Stop being so pessimistic. Find notes. Check Slimes.

Righto. The Slimes.

"Beh?"

Cassi sat at the bench, peering into the tank. "That's... unusual." She reached into the tank carefully, her hand hovering over the Slimes inside, waiting for a permissive sign before touching them.

"Gotta keep track..." Picking up a black Slime carefully, she 'rolled' it into her palm. Watching it quietly, she nodded slowly as it bounced back and forth in her hand. Setting it back into the tank, she began muttering to herself, searching around the desk for a pen and paper. "Moves smoothly... but not like the older ones... Not as erratic as Mudpie but doesn't have the same fluidity as Slimes produced by Meri or Lady D. Current siblings exhibit same motion patterns."

Picking up a clipboard, she wrote her mutterings onto a sheet labeled Zodiac, then flipped to a sheet labeled CoM and added additional scribblings under the subheading of Icy. Peering into another tank, she smiled cheerfully at the two Slimes inside. "No worries," she assured them. "Your baby will be fine."

Setting the clipboard aside, she began making rounds of the workstation.

In the first tank, the three 'erratic' Slimes - black Cancer, purple Gemini, and blue Aquarius - huddled together and dozed.

The three Slimes had become eight by now. Cassi peered into the tank, chewing on a lock of hair. Following the Zodiac theme, the five newcomers were Virgo, Libra, Leo, Sagittarius, and Taurus. Two of them were custom colors. Sagittarius was pale cyan, and Taurus was brown. Both of them were colored evenly, and so far seemed in no way superior or inferior to their kin.

Grabbing her clipboard, Cassi noted the new arrivals and their status on the Zodiac page. Like the first three, the newcomers were all noted as displaying smooth but uncommon motion habits.

Having finished checking on her personal Slimes, she moved over to check on the breeding tanks. The couple who she had assured of their baby's health were gone now, with the father back at the Greenhouse. The mother had been returned to her owner as well, and the baby had gone with her. The tanks were now occupied by several different couples.

"Everybody doing good? Y'all don't need nothin', do ya?" She smiled, going to each tank individually, feeding the Slimes and checking on the mothers to see how the process was going.

Satisfied that all was well, she plunked herself down on the stool again, cooing at her Zodiac Slimes affectionately.

Things had been going well in the Lab. The Zodiac Slimes had been completed. The entire set had been relocated to the Greenhouse, where they had quickly integrated into the local Slime society. Their erratic motion patterns had been taken in stride. Cassi suspected this was partially because one of the more well-known Slimes in the Greenhouse had a baby whose movements were even more erratic. Either way, the Zodiac Slimes were settled comfortably into their new home.

The breeding process was coming along nicely, too. All the Slimes were being checked regularly. Nothing had gone truly awry, and Cassi was confident that everything would turn out well. It was only a matter of time now until the baby Slimes would be sent home with their parents.
