Chase laughed at Cat’s comment. It felt good to have such a casual, easy flirtation. It almost made Chase forget about a certain green eyed blonde Slytherin. For the moment. Sort of. Relaxing into a chuckle he was caught off guard as Cat dashed forward to swipe the Quaffle that he was bouncing back and forth absentmindedly. ”Hey! I call a foul. Using your looks as a distraction. That has to be an illegal maneuver.” He laughed as he swung into position, Woil okaying the play.
Cat raced forward, a streak of red hair and determination. The Quaffle left her hands like lightning and Chase dove. He had been surprised. Hopefully if he missed this Woil wouldn’t be too hard on him. Even though this wasn’t a game, he knew he should have been more alert. His arm reached out, stretching for the catch…

Taking a cool, deep breath, Tristain swung her leg over the neck of her new Nimbus and pushed off into the breezy afternoon air. The wind against her flushed cheeks felt soothing, and she didn't mind the feel of her long blonde hair flying out in all different directions as she tore across the sky. She was surprised at how comfortable she was with this now, compared to last year. Flying had become a part of her.
Without being instructed, she took a few warm-up laps, just to loosen her limbs. The speed was exhilarating, and she found it hard to slow her steady acceleration--not physically, for flying came naturally to her, but mentally, because she could never complain about going too fast. She spun and twisted, dodged and flipped, stretching her arms and legs while practicing her maneuvering at the same time. She enjoyed it too much, and couldn't imagine not making her hobby official through a permanent spot on the Ravenclaw team.
As she pulled up lightly on the neck of her broom, coming to a hover over the majority of the students in the air, she spotted a pair of older students competing at the goal posts, and dropped down to their level to get a closer look.
Thoughts of all her practice over summer gave her all the confidence she needed. While playing against seasoned quidditch players--all of whom were already on their respective teams--Tristain had not only managed to keep up, but often times surpassed them. The combination of her speed, agility, and knack for scoring was simply too much to overcome.
After hearing the lull of conversation from the two who were practicing scoring on each other, Tristain felt it would be inappropriate to cut in. However, she wanted a turn at proving herself, as well, so she went to the source.
The captain seemed enthused as he watched the banter among the older students practicing chaser and keeper, which lightened her mood even more. She always imagined captains to be grumpy and strict, but this blonde appeared otherwise.
In her most courageous of voices, she asked, "Excuse me? Do you mind playing keeper against me? Or is there another student you could pair me up with, perhaps?" Her high soprano voice rang like music above the grassy field, and the smile on her face easily related her excitement for try-outs.
When she had grabbed the boy's attention, however, she realized that perhaps she could have been more polite. "I'm sorry for interrupting you, I'm just awfully anxious to get my hands on a quaffle." Instinctively, her deep blue eyes flashed to the one that was flying back and forth between the students in front of her, as if the ball had some sort of attraction that was pulling her in, just like the attraction that had brought her here."Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Lawless, winged, and unconfined, and breaks all chains from every mind."- William Shakespeare

Cathryn Rose O'Malley 13 Years Old┽Third Year┽Ravenclaw┽Chaser┽ Taken by Chase Balford ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ The Quaffle soared just barely pass his outstretched hands, and waved goodbye as it vanished through the goal. Cathryn cheered her minor victory, and pulled a loop in celebration. Then she shrugged her shoulders in response to Chase's call for a foul. "I read in a book once that it's always a good idea to use your opponent's weakness against them..." She glanced up as a blonde girl anxiously watched them, waiting for her turn. Now slightly serious, she returned her attention to the Prefect. "Now, let's finish this up real quick, so others can have a turn. After we're done, we can discuss when and where for dinner." As she waited for him to retrieve the Quaffle, she reached up to where she had tied her hair up and pulled out the hair tie. The bright red curls fell down close to her waist, and waved slightly in the wind. ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ ╔══════════════╗ Injuries/Illnesses: ------ Out of character: ------ ╚══════════════╝

A house divided...
Cannot stand... We must stand together...
The Ravenclaw smiled and waved at Rosemarie and shook his head. "Don't do it again okay?" He said to her gently.
Woil's eyes rose as Tristan spoke so politely and asked Chase to practice with her. He smiled as she said she was anxious to get her hands on teh Quaffle and he gladly told her. "If you're so anxious for it, then steal it. Show me if you can steal from our enemies. Qudditch is more then just scoring goals." He said, calmly and gladly.

Shina watched the tryouts with interest. It seemed like there were some good upperclassman players. She might not get a chance to try out for the team this year, but Shina consoled herself with the thought that there was always next year. ((OOC: ... ))

phinelia von ichvalfourth year - ravenclaw captain - ravenclaw quidditch teamhermes▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬“In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.” – Desiderius Erasmus “The haft of the arrow had been feathered with one of the eagle’s own plumes. We often give our enemies the means of our own destruction.” – Aesop “There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.” – Socrates “If the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn’t.” – Lyall Watson ╔══════════════════╗ The bobbing red shot of hair could be seen frantically running up and down the Grounds, arms filled with supplies and short legs attempting to carry her as racing speeds. Frantic turning of her head threatening to give her whiplash as she attempted to make quick inventory, write a small speech and generally gather herself up at the fraying seams. Pigtails just slightly flaring out in various direction in their diligent binding but molten eyes darting in a contained panic. Brooms of all measure, thickness and flying type had been found and assembled at the stand she had holed out from the Team Tent just outside the Quidditch Ring. They awaited players and capable hands handling them. Her own borrowed broom that she always chose and had become used to standing just off from the others to make itself known as chosen. The familiar and visibly worn chest of all the sport's balls standing right next to the stand and so far locked securely. Its age-remembering scratches and tugs at old leather calming her slightly as she allowed a linger glance to it. Parchment of her own finding lay atop it with two closed bottles of ink and as many second-hand quills as she could find in her school bag. Everything else assumed and collected now spread out in mid-field, closer to the southern viewing stands ranged from charmed, false Bludgers to slip-on cleats for broomstick grip. It seemed all that remained in her company were the animated presences; the House Mates that were now under her command on the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team. Phinelia vaguely wondered is she would ever become accustomed to the odd gleam the badge on her uniform held of if the alien weight of it would ever lift. Soon enough team mates began to arrive and those who would be trying out. Now she had little choice to try to contain her obvious nerves at being in such a spotlight position and hide the shaking of her knees and biting of her lip. "Hello," she squeaked, instantly clearing her throat and hoping no one had managed to catch the poor first attempt before turning once more, "Hello! Sorry for the delay on this next day of tryouts. There have been a few, um, changes." she offered, fighting the urge to either wring the hem of her uniform or the fingers off her hands. Swallowing thickly she took in a breath she was horrified to feel shaking, "Woil has, erm, resigned as Captain and I was offered his position. I hope....I hope I can still do a good job. Oh!" she suddenly gasped, jumping up like a very startled deer, "I am Phinelia von Ichval if-if you do not know me. Just Phi is fine..." she bit her lip then and cursing herself for it tried to keep her eyes from slipping to the ground in a lowering of her head and the spirits she was trying to summon. Shivering and attempting to imagine the comforting, rough grip of Colton's comfort that she would feel if he were anywhere within the area. "If you could, trying out or already on the team, please write down your name, year and desired position on the parchment on the chest." she said with a slighter strength and gesturing to the paper in question with a weak smile directed to one and all. As they began to move towards it slowly she attempted to keep the smile there as she recounted just how poorly she had done with a bitter inner laugh.╚══════════════════╝

Tristain's smile flourished and her eyes grew wide wit excitement as she watched Phi trot nervously onto the field to take over the quidditch try-outs. She had been told about Woil's retirement from the team the night before, and she couldn't help but bounce on her heels with pride that it had been Phinelia who was chosen to take over his role.
Keeping quiet, and only giving Phi a comforting nod at the start of her speech, Tristain listened to every word before skipping over to the parchment that was lying atop the chest. With a suddenly shaking hand, she scribbled: Tristain Raines - Second Year - Seeker, then backed away so that others could file in and do the same.
Over the past summer, she had focused most of her practice on her skills as a chaser, but only because the seeker position had been filled. Until now, of course. With the sudden opening of the position, Tristain knew that she could not pass up her dream. This was exactly how she had pictured it all along; she would have the chance to make seeker, which would make her dad and brother proud without putting her in the center of the field amid flying bludgers and crazed opponents. On top of that, she would have the opportunity to be the star of the show; all of this without having to directly compete against Jayden. She knew it wouldn't be easy, especially because she had not been mentally prepared, but physically, she knew it would be little more than a walk in the park."Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Lawless, winged, and unconfined, and breaks all chains from every mind."- William Shakespeare

Rosemarie looked at the new captain, she smiled at Phi before filling out the paper simply writing the same information as her previous position the year before. "Here we go." she said softly as she prepared her broom. Hope I stay on the team. Rosemarie Rosemarie Alvern Second Year Chaser (( Pale you may have Phi comment on Rosie's last name, her father is captain of the England International Quidditch team. ))

It's such a pity about Woil, but I'm certain you will do a fantastic job." Cathryn grinned at the girl. She barely registered what she was doing. Her mind was completely focused on Chase, the handsome fifth-year who had just asked her out. Never the less, her body worked automatically to fill out the paper. Cat Cathryn O'Malley Third-Year Seeker Now that Woil was gone, the position of Seeker, Cathryn's preferred position had opened. She had been playing Quidditch since she was eight, and played as Seeker since she was nine. The past two years she had had her second-favorite spot of Chaser, but now was her chance to shine. She handed in her paper, and glanced around for Chase. She didn't see him, but she knew that he would be here. ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ ╔══════════════╗ Injuries/Illnesses: ------ Out of character: ------ ╚══════════════╝

Chase Henrick ~ Ravenclaw ::: First Year ~ As a first year, Chase didn't have much chance of getting on the team. Besides, he was competing against a much bigger and healthier upperclassman. Guess he should just wing it and hope for the best. There was always next year.
He thought for a bit and considered his options. He preferred flying around with a quaffle in his hands than being pelted at by other Chasers.

Explaining how to measure oneself to a broom and then taking the paper and reading all the names and desired positions. "All right, the seeker position is open, the three chaser positions and the keeper position. Will anyone be trying out for Keeper as well?" she asked, attempting to keep her voice above the normal mousy tones she held. Once it had been heard by all the and she response showed itself, she glanced back to the paper and continued instruction, "To begin, we will do the Seeker tryouts." glancing at the three who had written their interest for the position, she smiled and silently instructed for them to jump into the air and take position. "One by one, Kiremono first." she explained, taking her own broom into the sky and flying up above the field and those still standing on it. Glancing then to the two students who had signed for chaser positions, "Alvern, would you like to practice formation and passing with Henrick?" she asked, knowing the girl for her name in the professional sport. Smiling to them both and reassuring with her glance that she knew how to chose between them once their own test came. Returning her attention to the small group she now had in front of her, airborne, she addressed them, "In the order of Kiremono, O'Malley and Raines, you will catch this ball," she now revealed from one of the pockets on her uniform robes. Small and round but a pale colour that could easily be lost as fast speeds. "You have three tries each to get it." she then, with her left hand, revealed her wand and dropped the ball. Before it had the chance and gravity to any considerable distance, it was already in Phi's aim. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she commanded and the thing was instantly at her desired action. Swinging it around and guiding it in motions and directions mimicking those of a Snitch, she watched as the first candidate went after it.
[so just as though you were playing seeker in a real game, roll for the number to catch the ball. so 40 or lower, or 70 or higher.]╚══════════════════╝

Even though she was to try-out last for the seeker position, Tristain found herself bouncing on her heels in anticipation. Her hands wound themselves around the handle of her broom, twisting it continuously as she waited for the other seekers to perform.
The Ravenclaw knew she'd be okay with playing chaser, and maybe even keeper, but the role of seeker was naturally hers to fill. Nevertheless, she couldn't help but be anxious, and as much as she tried to focus on the chasers practicing, she couldn't seem to take her eyes off the competing seekers."Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Rosemarie nodded and looked at Chase Henrick, she smiled. "Ok Henrick, grab a broom." she said as she mounted her own and took the quaffle in her hands. I guess the reason she wants me to do this is cause of Da training me and all. she thought as she looked over the boy. "Now there a re several basic formations for practice. I'll show you a few after we do some passing." she said. She looked at the first year. She showed him how to tuck the quaffle, how to catch and how to properly throw it. "Okay, ready?" she asked as she launched the quaffle.

Chase Henrick~ Ravenclaw ::: First Year ~ Chase nodded as he grabbed a broom from a nearby barrel. He tried to pick out the best one, judging by the tails and their shine. He felt like he was picking out the healthiest puppy, but what else could he judge the broom from? Its elasticity? Ha.
He slightly overwhelmed by the new information on how to play the Chaser position, though he would have to get used to it, somehow. "Not really," Chase answered his classmate. It was time for a very likely doom for Chase.
