Feelings had been building for over a year now and Alice simply couldn't handle it anymore... she had to know if Sebby had the same feelings for her that she had for him. The teen had been dropping hints to him all semester and so far he either hadn't picked up on the hints or he was bad at reciprocating them. She was going absolutely bonkers not knowing if he liked her the way she liked him. Alice had spent weeks trying to tell Seb that she liked him as more than a best friend but every time she chickened out. But no more, she had finally decided that she needed to talk to him before the end of the semester and they went back home. She had written Sebby a note asking him to meet her on the fourth floor corridor, by the tapestry with all the magical animals woven on it. Before she delivered the note, she had spent hours agonizing over her outfit. She consulted several other girls in Ravenclaw dorm on what looked good and what matched, how she ought to do up her hair, what jewelry to wear, and if she should wear makeup. Finally she settled on an outfit, then tugged a hoodie on over her dress since she knew the corridors were cold. Finding a Gryffindor, she asked them to bring the note to Seb, then headed to the corridor.

Alice paced the corridor while she waited for Sebastian to arrive, all the while rehearsing her what she was going to say. She consulted the page she wrote her speech on several times, trying to memorize the words on the page. But every time she put it away, she forgot everything she'd written. Darn it... I'm shaking... Get it together Alice... she thought to herself. Her heart was hammering in her ears. What if he said he just liked her as a friend? That would absolutely crush her! She only liked Sebby... Alice had tried to like other people, but the only one she had feelings for was him. Oh gosh... if he said he didn't like her like that... she would definitely cry. Her nervousness brought her hand to her mouth and she started to chew on her nails. Blue eyes nervously glanced up and down the hallway. Where was Seb? Did he even get the note? Alice put her hand down and started to nervously bite her lip. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She needed to be calm when Seb got here, not in the middle of a nervous breakdown.

Okay, but what if he figured out what this conversation was about and is intentionally avoiding it... Alice thought to herself while she was pacing. She checked her watch again and huffed a little sigh, her anxiety building to a boiling point. Gah, where is he?! she was thinking, feeling like a panic attack was about to explode from her. Then a voice behind her cut through her anxiety like a hot knife through butter. He was here. Alice turned to see Sebastian and she smiled nervously. The butterflies immediately kicked into gear and once again, her heart was hammering in her ears. God above, the noise was so loud and she knew, absolutely knew, that Sebastian could hear it too. Everything else melted away as she smiled at him. He explained that he got the floor wrong and everything... but it didn't matter. He was here. Oh gosh, now she had to say the things! What did she write?! Oh no, she'd been practicing all those words she wrote down and now she couldn't remembered a darned thing! "Uhm...."

Seb asked if everything was okay and Alice swallowed nervously. She knew he could hear her heart beating rapidly and secretly she wished for the same power because she had no idea. Drawing in a little breath, she tried to calm her racing mind. "Yeah... um..." She shifted nervously and thought, Ah screw it... I can't do this... Behind that thought, another more confident Alice appeared and squashed the negativity. Just say what's in your heart. The teen nodded, then looked down at the floor. "Seb... Sebastian, you've been my best friend for three and a half years. You were beside me when I battled with my gender identity. And... gosh, Seb... I just..." Tears started to well in her eyes, but she pushed through them. "I don't know the best way to say it so I'm just going to blurt it out. I like you a lot... like more than a best friend. I want you to be my boyfriend." She looked up at him, her tears escaping her eyes and streaming down her cheeks and a deep red blush coloring her cheeks. Her heart had been bared and she hoped, prayed, that he felt the same.

Blue eyes stared up at Sebastian as he pulled her into a hug and said she had been his best friend since they'd met and that he wouldn't let it change... except that it would be nice to call her his girlfriend. What she had thought was a bad sentence ended up being the best one she'd heard in a while. Her arms snaked around his waist and she held him tightly, smiling like a goofy idiot. Alice dabbed at her eyes with the sleeve of "her" hoodie, then she was captured in another hug. She smiled again and hugged him back, laying her head against him. His hugs were always the best, but now they were even better because he was her boyfriend! Her boyfriend! She could practically squeal! Seb continued and asked her on a date! Next weekend in Hogsmeade! "I would love to!" she said excitedly. Her heart was still hammering, but it was a rush of excitement now. Rolling up onto her tip toes, she placed a quick kiss on Seb's lips, glad she decided not to wear lipstick now. Then the blonde blushed furiously and asked, "Sorry, was that too forward?" Her blue eyes were very bright against the deep red of her cheeks.
