Hershel had fallen quiet as the conversation had lulled and the boisterous noise and attention around them distracted the bunch of close-sitting first years and himself. There seemed to have been some sort of accident that was holding everyone's attention, as well as the suddenly tense controversy of Noah's discussion with some of the older students. As Hershel listened into a portion of it, he also could not help but cringe with uneasiness of the subject and the phrasing. There seemed to be a very complicated story there, however.
As Amelia's question was answered by two older students - both of whom Hershel offered a polite nod of acknowledgment - and Edajin had seemed to slip further and further into his book - to Hersh's great pleasure - he looked over the rest of the Hall. The Sorting was now over as was most of the Feast. The Second year was sufficiently stuffed and ready to take off to the dormitories, comforted by the realization that he had managed to make a few friends in the first few hours of his second year when the entirety of the school year had not offered enough time and chance last time. He hoped Pod was fairing well.

Damien relaxed some when Marina curbed her impulse and didn't say anything, and shot her an appreciative smile before giving her a light kiss on the cheek. When their prefect, Eretria, spoke up to the boy who'd made the comment, his brows arched, and he tried to push back his annoyance. Not at her, or even really at him, but at the fact that, of course, it'd had to happen. Nevermind all the other years where such things might have bothered him, but only because it was his way and not because he wanted to have a nice night. No, it had to be this year, the first time he'd ever actually wanted to enjoy the feast. He sighed a bit. When the boy defended himself, trying to say that his distaste wasn't because of his brother's blood, Damien bit back a snort. Was that true, or was the boy just trying to save face, like all the other snakes? The way he'd referred both to his brother and his father's change of profession seemed to indicate the latter, but the child did seem rather offended that everyone had made that assumption about him. He seemed earnest enough, and after all, being a first year, he could hardly be expected to be able to truly match wits with older students, particularly in their house. When Dom changed the subject and brought up the Radcliffe's, Damien's interest peaked. They had vanished rather suddenly, hadn't they? How very odd."Whatever reason they went missing for, it was bloody bad timing. There's been far too many unsolved deaths for the head of the Aurors to just up an vanish. Unless, of course, their disappearance is connected to those deaths."Damien supposed it was more than possible that the man and his entire family might have gotten caught up in something horrible. One more reason to worry about Marina's choice of career; any one case she worked might end exactly like that, with their children's classmates wondering where they'd all up and vanished to without a word. Damien's eyes flashed with shock after that thought. Their children? They hadn't even been dating a day! Weren't even really, officially dating, actually, he thought, thumbing the ring he still wore. He needed to slow that down. But, of course, it was in his nature to rush such things. Pureblood families' idea of courting was to pick out a girl, buy her some gifts, show some affection, propose, and get married. It was all business. He needed to remind himself that this wasn't business; this was real. And that it might not make it to the alter. That thought made his heart hurt, but it was the reality. Things happened. He and Marina certainly had a history of fighting and disagreeing, that wasn't all going to up and change just because they were dating.

Just when you think, you got me figured out The season's already changing
Eretria ignored the rest of the conversation, as it seemed as though the feast was winding down. Well, now she guessed it was time for the prefects to get into action, wasn't it? She stood, and beckoned toward the first years."All right, first years! I am going to take you now to the Slytherin Common Room. I suggest you memorize this route, as this is going to b e the same route you take every day for the rest of your time at Hogwarts. Now follow me, and please don't lag behind and get lost. I will not be responsible for it if you end up in places you should not go, and will happily deduct points and hand out detentions to those that ignore my instruction."She then led the way out of the hall, her head held high as she made her way down the familiar path to the dungeons. Had it really been five years since she herself had made that journey? It definitely felt odd, indeed.

xxxRising from her seat Amelia was a little wobbling. Exhausted from the trip and her belly full of fine food she was tired. Conversation had died down, old students had already gone and left to their common rooms. The prefects voice, even though harsh and metallic, was a godsend. Slowly but surely she headed into the Great Hall.

Noah couldn't be more glad to go to the common rooms. Rising from his seat, he followed Eretia's aggravating voice all the way down to the dungeons, amazed by everything he was seeing. He watched some of the other first years looking around too so he didn't feel completely ridiculous. He was excited to see the common room and finally get to go to bed. It had been a long night of keeping his defenses up, eyeing all of the new people around him, and trying to process the different personalities. Noah was officially exhausted.

✖✖✖✖Rui walked quietly into the Great Hall. She was pissed. Some how the stupid little gryffindors had made up and were happy and back together. You'd think if a girl caught her boyfriend cheating she wouldn't go back to him no matter what! She glared across at the Gryffindor table, even though the 2 she was angry about had yet to show up. What was she supposed to do now? Where was she supposed to find her fun? 'You could always screw up someone else's life too Roo.... or you could stab some people. That could be fun.''Stabbing... maiming... killing.... fun fun fun.' Insane laughter rang out through her head, both hers and her dead brother's. That was good plans for summer. Good plans. Ruin some people's lives. Deform them, kill them. Make people understand just what she had been through. Make them like her! She giggled in a deranged manner and picked up the knife from the table. Slowly she ran her finger gently over the blade. 'Oh yes.... what fun.''Fun fun fun Rui. Just don't tell Rei!'More malicious laughter rang out in her head and she smirked.

¤¤¤¤¤¤Michelle walked silently into the great hall. Back to the little cottage where only pain and anger awaited her. Oh what fun. She wasn't worried or scared. Vincent couldn't scare her. She had looked death in the eye more than once, a man that hit her and tossed her around couldn't scare her. Never. If anything, he should be the one scared of her. He touched Olyvia and she would kill him. No hesitation. She would kill him right then and there. Her baby sister was never ever going to be hurt by him. She wouldn't let it happen. Killing him wouldn't faze Michelle. She had killed before. Set men on fire and watched them burn. Of course, killing him wouldn't be enough. Death was an escape that she wouldn't let Vincent have... not yet.
¤¤¤¤¤¤With a small sigh, she took a seat at the Slytherin table and rested her elbows on the wood, before resting her chin on folded fingers. She had thought about her options before, but she couldn't go to her father, because Olyvia would still be stuck with Vincent. If only Vincent had relatives, then maybe she could find a way to make him pay for everything he had ever done wrong. She could never figure out where it went wrong though. They had been happy, and then he started drinking and then.... it all went down hill from there.

×××××Jaslyn giggled happily as she pranced into the Great Hall. She still couldn't get over the fact that she was dating Chance. Chance was her boyfriend. It was official and it was wonderful and she would never ever get over that fact. She was delirious with happiness. As she sat, she silently promised herself that she would spend as much time as humanly possible with Chance over summer. No matter what. She giggled again and looked around for either of her brothers. She had to tell someone that she was finally with Chance. She had to! She couldn't keep it all to herself forever, but she had yet to speak with either Darius or Virgil, and so she was stuck. It wasn't like she had any other friends besides them and Chance.

Amanda made her way down to the Great Hall for the end of the year feast. She was expecting for her house to be awarded with the quidditch cup this year. Her mind wandered from the quidditch cup, to her broom, then to her sister who had bought it for her last summer. The older girl would probably want Amanda to find a job this year, but where could she work? She doubted anyone would hire a fifteen year old unless she was part of some family business, which clearly she wasn't. Kaitlyn could of course try and get her hired at Madam Puddifoot's, but the Slytherin would rather be cursed than work at that place. Sure, her sister enjoyed it a fairly reasonable amount, but she was placed in the damn Hufflepuff house! The house of badgers, or beavers, or otters. All those animals seemed to be the same in Amanda's eyes. Hell, it didn't matter which one of those animals was the Hufflepuff's mascot. The people in that house acted quite the opposite from Slytherin students. So, if Kaitlyn enjoyed working at Madam Puddifoot's, Amanda would despise it. The fifth year sat down alone in one of the seats and waited for the feast to start. She was not all that excited for the summer.
Just when you think, you got me figured out The season's already changing
Eretria entered the Great Hall and made a beeline for the Slytherin Table. This year had been hectic, what with OWLs having to be worked on. She hated the fact that she didn't get a chance to play Quidditch, but the house had seemed to manage to win this year. Her eyes scanned the table, wondering about how the other housemates had fared. She doubted they had annoying letters from some stalker they met in Knockturn Alley. Which reminded her, she hadn't seen Ronyo or heard from him about what happened with the case. She hoped that meant the investigation was keeping him busy, because she didn't want to think on the alternative. She sat next to Amanda, thinking that she really needed to make sure that she heard back from Ronyo over the summer, or she would send a letter his way.

Amanda eyed Eretria. It was obvious she had been thinking about something due to the expression on her face. "A lot on your mind?" she asked, allowing her friend to answer however she pleased. If she wanted to brush it off, she could, and if she wanted to let Amanda know what she had been thinking about, she could do that as well. Both of the Slytherin students were pretty secretive. Not only did they not share much with their other peers, but they didn't share all that much with each other. Sure, the occasional truth came out; however, most of the time, it wasn't anything too personal.
As Dominic arrived to the feast, everything seemed to be in full swing. He ushered a smile to the faces that spared him any attention but was always returned with a sneer. There were those who hadn’t paid him any mind, and for that, he was grateful. He’d heard hushed rumors of Damien and Marina, and himself, by association… To be honest, he hadn’t heard too much of himself and Grace, but, maybe that was because it was always behind his turned back. He tried not to dwell.
Dominic found himself a seat nearby teammates, though he hardly acknowledged them. His mind was racing, and he couldn’t focus. Idly, he glanced along the Ravenclaw table, it was getting late, and she should show up soon. But there were so many faces to wade through. Hell, if he did find her, he’d probably ditch the serpents and slither to her side. What a minute--was that a bloke in a pink dress?! What the hell?

Head Girl Annabelle Emery Rich
Seventh Year Seeker, Slytherin Prefect
There was a lingering sorrow that traced the delicate ivory flesh as she sifted, quiet and gentle. Long, lithe steps of rippling muscle had carried her along the hall until she found herself near the center of the Slytherin Table. Now, she’ll finally be able to do as she pleases, and idly, she wondered what William was doing right now. With a sip of pumpkin juice, she contemplated all that she needed to do. Her father, more than likely, would want to dive headfirst into this marriage.
She’d have rather tangled with a flesh eating slug, than do that. She did love Dev, she really did. But she hated the thought of being forced into this, rather than her parents allowing to let it grow as is. She was, above all, just tired. She needed fun.
Her father would probably be expecting her at the station, but she wouldn’t be there. She wondered if Dev would be there too, waiting. She couldn’t understand why he couldn’t come to school this year, she knew the tragedy, but she couldn’t understand why he chose to hide away. Hell, now that she thought about it, running away didn’t seem like a half bad idea. She could run rampant in London, lounge in Spain, party in Rome, and relax in France. A small smirk fluttered to her lips as nimble fingers swiftly dove for a flask of rum tucked in her sleeve before pouring its contents into her juice and letting it burn down her throat with a smile.

Marina entered the Great Hall with her typical neutral expression. She didn't plan on smiling until she had Damien by her side at the table. And if Dominic had gotten sneers from the other Slytherins, Marina got looks of disgust and open scowls, and of course the rest simply didn't bother to even look at her. The redheaded girl ignored all of this, head held high as usual, and took a seat, glancing around to see if her boyfriend had arrived yet. Boyfriend- it still felt strange saying it, because she'd never really pictured herself having one, never mind having Damien as one. But here she was, and this so far had been her best year at Hogwarts. She was perfectly content to sit there and wait, until she heard the flapping of wings. Owl wings. Marina looked up, surprised to see an owl flying through the hall at night, and during the end of term feast no less. She was even more surprised to see it heading towards the Slytherin table. Who would be getting mail now, at the very end of the year? She didn't recognize the bird, and was startled to see it drop something right in front of her. It was a letter in a red envelope, and she stared at in shock for a moment before she realized what it was. A Howler? Why would she be getting a Howler? it wasn't from her parents, she knew that? Then who? Marina steeled herself, looking a little paler than usual, and opened the envelope.
