Bad week continued... Yeah really bad stuff. You know how I talked about the problems with the meds? Well, I think my client is being affected by it. When I came in yesterday I found out that the guy had a seizure on Friday after I had left. That is no big deal. The guy seizures, mind you since the dr aproved med change he had been doing really well and the average number of seizures he was having went from 10 down to 1 per month. Which is good, really good. So I didn't think anything of it. But last night he had 2 more and I was getting a bit worried that he may have more before the night was through. I thought that it might be due to the mess up with his meds. Very possible considering how sensitive he is to the slightest change with the medications he takes. For example there before christmas my agency changed pharmacies, which is fine, but they used different brand names which sometimes can mean they use different additives. For us it is not that big of a deal, for him it not only increased the seizure activity, but also the severity. So the Pharmacy was asked to use the same brand name as the previous one. Once that happened things went back to what was normal for him. But that little problem decided to get the Dr a bit more involved with my clients seizures and he did some tweeking with one of the meds. That has been a big help. For the past couple of months my clients seizures have decreased dramatically and we have been seeing a huge improvement for the guy because of it. But now this...I honestly feel that this latest batch of seizures is a result from the med mess. As it does take a bit of time for the effects to show, but I hope too that this will be the end of the problem. Usually after a series of seizures like this one he looses something. Usually one of his skills deminishes, or he has difficulty maintaining his balance. It is a sad sight. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't. Now all I can do is wait and hope things will go back to what it had been like the past couple of months.
