Soon, as in three to four days, school will start back up and we'll be lost in the monotone of it all. I was sitting in the car, my friends being delivered to their homes. An oppressive feeling weighed me down, it felt like gravity had increased.
I kept thinking about the ending of summer. Going back. Retreating from the fantasy world we build up around ourselves.
Back to the boring tastes of the school months.
Back to when I did things.
I kept thinking about all the songs I liked listening to. I think on the last day of summer. The last day of freedom, I shall listen to:
Age Six Racer, by Dashboard Confessional who's lyrics consist of 'So long sweet summer'.
The Boys of Summer, by The Ataris, I listened to that last year before school.
Thunder, by Boys Like Girls, 'Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer'.
Gone, by Switchfoot, 'Gone, like summer break is gone'.
Basically. I'll be crying my eyes out.
