Well guys, I know there is a lot of controversy amongst all of Gaia about all the new changes to the site. What do I have to say? They all aren't really necessary. I honestly think Gaia is wasting their time doing these changes.
The marketplace-yes there are cool things about it but some of it is just weird. Like all those charts, what do we need them for? I don't think too many gaians are interested in them. Honestly, why would we be interested in the marketplace's total gold revenue? It does nothing for us. Another thing that is particularly frustrating is the pm's that are sent to us when we buy something. Yes it is nice to know if someone bought from your store. Yes its nice to know if an item you were bidding on was bought. But why, oh why do we need a pm telling us we have bought something? Please, we are not that dumb! (I hope!!) And of course there is the biggest issue, which is the 2% tax. I know, I know there are great arguments for it, but I personally don't think it is necessary. There are plenty of ways to get gold out of the system and plenty of good user-submitted ideas for gold sinks for Gaia to have gone and pulled something like that. Firstly it goes against their promise of leaving the Marketplace to us, that it would be completely user-run and that they wouldn't interfere with pricing, etc. I just think they could have found a more accepted way of getting gold out of the system. Now Im not saying there arent good things because there are. I love the fact that we can preview items, search for 3 letter words, have more than 4 items in our store and the little snapshots we get of the market in the front page, including our wishlist.
The other change - the forums. I think it was COMPLETELY unnecessary. Firstly, the limit our characters - wth? Then the new icons in form ot threads, I think they are more confusing than the ones we sued to have. The polls are harer to do, some of the numbers ae tiny and well I think the only good thing was that when we put an emoticon into our posts it will go directly where our cursor is rather than at the end of the psot. Honestly that is all I like about it.
But alas, like msot of the things that get changed, I doubt anything will get changed back...we can only hope but if not just cope and get used to it.
Enough rambling for now Phantastic Phanatic ~~~*^____^*~~~
