((Just as a warning, this has been awarded the EMObadge©, so if you don't feel like being all depressed and what-not, don't freaking read this! Dx))
She took one step, then took two. Her heart fluttered wildly as she took one last look at him. From the way he looked back at her, she could tell he was feeling the exact same way she was. She stopped. He turned away. This was their good-bye. Not a word spoken. Only tears forming in their eyes.
She took another step, slower than many steps she'd normally take. Another step. Another.
Another.
Another.
He only stopped and watched her fade away into the sunset. To get his last glimps of her before she got away. He wiped his face, warm tears stuck to the cotton and glistened in the faint sunlight.
He took one step toward her, but failed to take another. He took back his step and hung his head low towards the ground.
She was getting away; he was letting her.
Her love exploded inside her heart, like fireworks in the night sky. She slowed her pace even more. She wished and longed to feel his warm embrace once more. The love in his heart reflected itself in the strength of his hug. That would be no more. She will never see him again.
And he would never see her again. They were being torn apart.
He felt sickly, unable to stand. He longed to catch up with her. He was too weak.
Those three words. Longed for, but never spoken. He could not stop his mind from telling him to run to her and say them. He wanted to, but could not. She yearned to go back for him and say good-bye. Fate would not let her.
She turned around. He was still there. He turned towards her. They could not see the other's face clearly anymore. They were thankful. They did not want the other to see the tears streaming down their face.
They were not proud of their tears.
She took one step, then took two, then three. He took one step, then two steps. He fought against the strong winds of fate that tried to keep him away. He was too late. She took her last step, and vanished forever.
