This RP is dedicated to really getting the feel that you're living a whole new life, starting over in a different world. As such, characters start young and grow progressively, gaining experience and skills as they do so. Since this is going to be a realistic RP, you should take into account taht no-one lives forever, and not everyone is dedicated to fighting. I don't mean to discourage you from taking the career path of your choice, but remember that not everyone is otu for a fight all the time. Participants in this RP should be skilled in detailed writing. Make sure to cover every aspect of your character and surroundings when you post. This said, I will proceed to write out the map. If someone could make a graphical version, that would be much appreciated.
The RP is set in a medieval fantasy world. In the center of the world is a town, the largest in fact, it is callled Mesopia. It is the trade capital of the world, covers the most area and has the greatest population. It controls many of the small villages surrounding it, taking form them a yearly tribute. Far to the North, about 800 miles, are the Sagos Mountains. Built in the mountains is a school where mages are trained. 300 miles west of the mountains is are the Sword Plains, named for the fact that there is a large garrison of Mesopian troops within. 1000 miles southwest of the Sword Plains Fortress is the Grey Forest. It is said to be the western-most part of the world, where the elves live, but no-one who has gone in has come back to say. 300 miles south and 500 miles east of that is the town of Soundare, where the school of knights is located. 300 miles farther east are the Shadow Lands, uncharted wastelands where dangerous beasts are said to roam. 50 miles northeast of the edge of the Shadow Lands is the village of Geoton. It is a corrupt little town of violence and alcohol, and many young men learn thievery and bare-handed fighting there. The area that remains untold, northeast of Mesopia, is great swamp. The water therein is said to be toxic to most races, and a great evil is said to be building within, but those are only stories. That said, allow me to explain the systems of the RP.
Life Stages System
Your character will start out young, thinking about what occupation they want to follow. They will become an aspiring X. When they can find someone to train them in X skill, they will become an apprentice X. Once their master deems them skilled, they become an adept X. Some occupations will bring them to become an X of Y (e.g. Kngiht of Mesopia, Mage of Fire etc.). Some will simply advance to Expert X.
Time
The seasons change every 10 game days. Once a cycle of all 4 seasons has passed, the year will change. That simple. As you know, however, sometimes game days tend to take a very long time. For this reason I recomend your character point out that it is "getting dark" or "it will be noon soon." in this way, a real feel for time is developed.
