Into The Woods!
On a white, snowy day, six white tigers were born. Their names were Kiba, Kia, Piper,
Sadie, Shino and Shia.
“Kayla, your cubs are beautiful!”
Sie, Kayla’s brother, exclaimed. Kayla smiled at him and licked her cubs.
“Kayla, I hope you know about the big storm coming.”
Sie’s face turned serious.
“So I’ve heard…when is it coming?”
Kayla hesitated and went back to cleaning her cubs.
“Three days.”
Kayla stared at Sie.
“Only three days?”
Kayla’s face made her cubs whimper.
Sie nodded,
“The winter is bringing more and more snow. By the third moon we shall freeze.”
Sie paused.
“That is why we need to find a safer cave.”
Kayla shook her furry head in agreement.
“We shall leave first thing in the morning.”
Kayla explained and cuddle her cubs. Kayla figured Kiba must have smelt her fear, he flinched before the rest of the little tigers got to.
“Sorry Kiba.”
Kayla whispered. She nuzzled him lightly. After Sie bowed his white, striped head and laid by the cave opening, to block some of the snow out. Kayla censed Kiba trembling from the cold.
Hold on! Kayla thought, and looked at Sie. He was already half frozen!
“Sie, come sleep over by us! You’ll be so much warmer.”
Kayla pleaded. Sie just sat there.
“Sie are you alright?”
No answer.
At last, Kayla got up from her sleeping cubs.
“Sie, please answer me!”
Kayla sobbed as tears dripped down her fluffy, white face.
“Sie…”
Kayla began to nozzle him.
He’s frozen! Kayla’s eyes grew big.
“K-Kayla?”
Sie replied weakly, as he trembled.
“Please Sie, come lay by the cubs for a while. We can take turns.”
Kayla offered.
“Alright.”
The white tiger sighed and stiffly shook some snow off of his fur. Slowly, he laid by the sleeping cubs.
“Thank you.”
Sie trembled exhaustedly and slowly, drifted into a deep sleep.
“Kayla!”
Sie yelled quickly as he woke up. Quickly, Sie got up and nuzzled her ice cold, fur.
“Kayla…”
Sie knew she was already gone. He cuddled Kayla’s cold body.
“I’m so sorry.”
Sie whimpered. Kiba woke up to see his Uncle crying.
“What is wrong Uncle?”
The small tiger asked. Sie couldn’t manage to say any words.
“What is wrong with mother?”
Kiba had a terrified look on his face.
“Uhh…”
Sie finally managed to spit out.
“Is she alright?”
Kiba curiously asked, getting closer to Sie, and Kayla.
“Kiba, I’m sorry.”
Sie paused for a moment.
“She’s gone. She tried to protect all of us.”
Kiba shook his head in disbelief, he didn’t understand. He didn’t want to understand either.
“No, sh…she can’t!”
Kiba shouted. His eyes filled with tears.
“No, She can’t”
Kiba repeated and let his tears stream down his little fuzzy, face.
“I’m sorry, Kiba!”
Sie whispered in sorrow. Sie looked at Kiba. He was half crying, half sleeping now.
Sie got up and started licking his face, until he fell asleep.
Suddenly, Sie heard footsteps outside the cave.
His eyes widened when he saw the big black boots of a hunter.
The hunter was standing three feet away from the opening.
Sie quickly stood in front of the cubs.
“Well, what do we have here?”
The hunter seemed very curious about what was in the cave.
He looked inside to find Sie, and Kiba curled up by the opening.
“Move! Stupid tigers! I want the little one!”
The hunter hissed and shoved Sie to the other side of the cave, nearly knocking him out.
Quickly, he grabbed Kiba and stuffed him inside of his pocket.
The hunter still didn’t seem satisfied and stared to grab for another cub, but Sie bit into his hand, his teeth sank down to the bone.
“Yeoh!”
The hunter screeched and jerked his injured hand out of the cave and ran off with Kiba in his pocket.
“Sie!”
A faint yell echoed though the woods.
Kiba!
Sie thought, I can’t just leave the rest of the cubs here alone! Not with hunters around.
Sie whimpered and forced his Shaggy, body to lay down with the cubs.
Sie prayed that night. He prayed that Kiba would be alright.
“Let me go!”
Kiba growled at the hunter.
Then Kiba realized, He can’t understand me!
A few hours later, they reached the hunter’s cabin.
Kiba heard the door fly open.
The hunter flung Kiba across the room and grabbed his keys.
Kiba lay there lifelessly on the ground, where the hunter threw him.
The hunter ran out of the room and before he shut the door, he shouted,
“I WON’T BE LONG!”
After, Kiba heard the keys rattle and the hunter was gone.
He was alone.
Two days.
Kiba thought and sniffed the sour air.
Kiba wrinkled his nose. Slowly and weakly Kiba looked up and saw awful things!
Bears, deer, and even tiger heads were mounted on the hunter’s wall.
Kiba yelped in surprise and carefully got up.
“Th-This is creepy!”
Kiba trembled and walked toward the door.
How do I get out of here?
Kiba thought,
Calm down….
Kiba took a deep breath and took a few steps backwards.
Then Suddenly the door flew open!
Kiba jumped in surprise.
“I’m home!”
The hunter sang evily.
Kiba crouched under a chair and sat as still as he could.
“Where are you? Come here, Kitty. Kitty. Kitty!”
The hunter raised his voice in frustration.
Kiba was to scared to move, so instead he started trembling again.
The hunter looked at the trembling chair, and BOOM!
Kiba was exposed from under the chair.
“Found you!”
The hunter cried, as he threw the chair once more.
Sie!
Kiba was surprised he thought of Sie at a time like this.
The Kiba noticed the door was open!
Kiba rushed out the door without looking back and finally ran into a tree.
Kiba didn’t care, he was too exhausted to move, so he just fell asleep.
“Ca! Ca! You better hurry home little one! The storm comes tomorrow!”
A bird crowed at Kiba.
“T-Tomorrow?!”
Kiba shouted sleepily.
Then he shook off the snow and ran until he found a familiar scent.
This smells like the river I live by!
Kiba thought and rushed home!
Kiba found the cave and ran inside.
“Sie! My brothers and Sisters!”
Kiba broke the silence that was in the cave.
Everyone came rushing toward him and greeted Kiba.
“What about the hunter?”
Sie asked.
“He got tired of chasing me so he went back home.”
Kiba explained.
“Now, then!”
Sie announced.
“Let’s find a new home!”
