“Alright, now when one of them approaches you, how will you act?” We were sitting in a parlor room that slightly resembled a bar. Another vampire was pretending to be a werewolf, well, he could just be pretending to be a guy that I had to hit on like my lif– well, my life did depend on it. I had to be “persuasive.”
I sighed and shook my head to clear it. The other vampire, Syd, strolled over to me and sat in the chair next to me. He tried to start a conversation and I smiled politely–
“No!” Nate shouted. I rolled my eyes. This was the tenth time he had stopped me. “You have to smile more seductively. Try again.”
I sighed heavier and sat back in my chair, crossed my legs, then leaned forward resting my head in my hands, my elbows on the table. I tried to look bored, but with a sexy pout. Nate nodded in approval.
Syd walked over again and I perked up and smiled. No interruptions yet... He introduced himself and kissed my hand. I let out a giggle, not too high pitched, and turned away like I was shy. He started the conversation.
“So, is this your first time to one of these places?”
I nodded and leaned in, “You?”
He shook his head.
“Alright.” Nate stopped the skit. “That’s great, may be it wasn’t such a bad idea to use you for this...”
Even though I haven’t been here long, I feel strangely at ease. Maybe I was meant to be here, destined to have hit Nate and end up at this place. I felt in the zone. Cheesy, I know, but that’s how I felt.
Syd stood up, gave me a wink, and walked out of the room. Nate took his seat and crossed his arms.
“Okay, so we have the communication figured out. The attitude down. Now you just need to know who to aim for,” he sighed. His eyebrows furrowed as he thought of who I needed to target.
Aw...He looks so cute when he’s thinking...well more sexy than cute and– ugh! I have to stop thinking like this!
No keep on going. I rather enjoy hearing you arguing with yourself.
I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes.
“You only go in here,” I pointed to my head, “When you need to. I quite like the privacy of thought, thank you very much.”
He chuckled and put the famous smirk back on his face.
“Okay, so there will be at least three guys you can try to develop a relationship with.”
“Relationship?” I inquired.
“Yeah, like being their girlfriend, lover–“
“Whoa! You never said anything about this!” I shook my head and stood up backing away from him. The next thing I know he’s pinned me against the wall, his face mere inches from mine.
“You have to do this unless, you want to die...”
I swallowed hard and started to tremble, his usual green eyes had a tint of red in them and they were a deeper shade of green. He lightly brushed his lips against mine before he moved his mouth to my throat. Nate softly brushed his lips up my neck then dragged one of his fangs down it. I shivered and if he hadn’t been holding my shoulder with one hand and my hip with the other, my knees would have given out.
He chuckled again, his breath making me shiver again. His mouth went to my ear as he whispered,
“You’re lucky I have an enormous amount of self-control.” Nate let go of me and I slid down the wall to sit on the floor. He was nowhere to be seen.
Why does he keep doing that? And why do I seem to enjoy it? I’m seriously sick... Crap he might have heard that. In that case, I HATED IT AND CAN’T BELIEVE HE’S SO UGLY!
Yeah, that’ll convince him.
After, I went back to my room to shower, I just felt like I needed one. The hot water just seemed to wash all thought from my mind, it was a little sanctuary that I needed. No thought.
When I stepped out of the bathroom I braced my self for anyone sitting on my bed. No one was there. Hey, once a girls’ read enough horror novels she can kinda guess what’s gonna happen next. I went into my closet and pulled out some comfy looking pajamas. After all, I had been awake for quite a while. Probably 36 hours at the most.
I slipped the gray plaid flannel pants on and pulled the long-sleeved black shirt over my head. Shuffling my feet, I walked out of the closet and flopped onto my bed. A very lumpy bed. A lumpy, moving bed...
One of my tired eyes opened and looked over to see Nate looking down and smiling at me.
I should have seen that one coming...
“Ah, but you didn’t. You know you want me to stay here tonight.” His voice had dropped an octave and I rolled off of him and gave him a view of my back.
“Tired. Leave.” That was all I was going to say. I get very lazy when I’m tired.
“Nope.” His words made me groan. “You still need to see the three potential targets and get some information on them so that it can be all the easier for you.”
Sighing deeply, I flipped over to find his face close to mine for the fourth time since I had arrived here. I squealed and backed away, only to fall to the floor with a thump! and an oomph!
He laughed at that point. Not a chuckle and a smirk. A full out laugh. It suited him, made him even more ho– I shook my head. No more of those thoughts.
I grumbled and pulled myself back up to the bed. A folder was thrown onto my lap. Inside were a few pictures. One was a guy about my age, 19, with blonde hair and green eyes that were a lot brighter than Nate’s, almost crystal-like. The next was of a 21 year-old with black hair and blue eyes. Midnight blue eyes with flecks of silver. Exactly like the night sky. The last was of another 21 year-old with flaming red hair and gray eyes. All of them had a lean build of muscle. Similar to the “hidden weapon of strength” concept. They didn’t look strong, but I was pretty sure they could kick a**.
The first’s name was James, the next was Ethan and the last was Cian.
Cian...“ancient”...“distant”...
