God, Coins and Guns are extremely boring. Oh well, to each his own.
Anyway, today was the start of the weekend in which I was to be volunteering to help a friend of Rich's. Me, Russ, and a few others from Anime Vegas were there to help. It was a Gun and Collectible Coin Show at the Mandalay Bay, which is supposed to last from today until Halloween on Sunday. I seriously doubt I'm coming back tomorrow or Sunday, for that matter.
Getting there late was probably the first bad omen. We were about 15 min. late. We blame the crowded buses on the strip, and if you say it was because we got on the bus an hour later than we planned, Russ and I will deny it up and down.
When we met with everyone else, we suited up. Yep, aprons and nametags for everyone. Our main job was to go around asking all the dealers if they needed any help with anything, or if the needed us to go get something for them, like a food order. Things started off slow, and I mean snail with broken legs slow. We chalked it up to being that it was early, and everyone was still waking up. Things would get better, right? Well, maybe for some. Russ and I couldn't seem to find anyone to help, or help them correctly. We were desperate enough to beg someone for work, as long as it would take our minds off the boredom. Coins aren't so great, and it's not like I'm even old enough to be handling a gun legally, never mind I'm not particularly fond of them.
We went out and had lunch, praying that when we got back, things would start to pick up. They did for me somewhat. Russell, not so much. He was getting horrible headaches from the lights in the convention area, which even I will say were too bright. He found some secret place to hide and lie down. While he was there, a few of us got an offer from some lazy grump who treated us like little children. We had to pass out flyers, and God help us if we did it wrong. The upside to the bitchiness from him, was the fact that he paid us each $20. Russell, hiding from the light though, wasn't there. I tried to desperately to find him, but the guy kept telling me to get back to work and stop looking around.
The only dealer's there that caught my interest enough were people selling DVD's, although you could definetly tell they were bootlegs. Well, Dimetrea couldn't, and ended up buying the Live Action Sailor Moon DVD for like $60. We tried to return it afte we told her about the quality of bootlegs, but the scam artists said no refunds, so Rich is gonna have to sort things out.
When it was finally over, we needed to unwind a little bit. So Russ and I headed to the Luxor. We did something I swore an oath I wouldn't repeat, and other than play a little DDR, I whooped Russ in Air Hockey 5 games in a row. So, yeah, I'm kinda proud of that.
Yeah, I'm definetly not going tomorrow. Josh told me something cool about Gaia. There's some news reports or something, apparently Gambino's Mansion opened up again. Must be the Halloween event. From what he told me though, sounds like something Zombie related. eek
