Ah, Tuesday. Monday's preppy BFF. These days are dragging on more and more when I keep thinking about not being back home. I need school now more than ever, now that I'm seeing everyone else in this little town going.
Things started off alright, I woke up late again from staying up watching midnight Oprah and infomercials. There was one that caught my eye that I think you'd enjoy. It was these two real estate agents of the strangest variety. Not only were they identical twins, they were midgets. They were offering these free workshops you could come to later this week in Illinois, where they would show you how to make bank in the real estate area, by buying and then selling houses for so much money. They had the usual people come on and tell you how much they made, how easy it was, how they were so suprised at this idea, how it changed their lives, blah blah blah...
Those things are so stupid. Like I'm supposed to believe that you have these money making secrets that you're so willing to share with the general public, when you could keep it to yourself and make bank on your own? Please, what else is on? Actually it was more of that. 3 out of the 5 channels had that same crap on all night, and I couldn't escape, so it was time for Oprah reruns. I nodded off pretty easily.
When I woke up, we had to go get ready to visit Great Aunt Edna, another nice old woman with a heart of gold. I tell you, she and her daughter keep that house impeccable, those are floors you really can eat off of. I don't think Sonja'd like it there though, Edna has a thing for frogs. She was so nice to us, and happy to see Sophia, it was a very nice visit, and she had such a beautiful garden. For an 83 year old, she sure gets around, and I admire that kind of a person. She'll go out with a bang, that's for sure. We had a bit of a problem though, in the rush to get out of the house, we left Sophia's binky at the house, and she needs it to calm down, and I mean needs it. My dad went all the way back to the house to get it, but I had calmed her down and she fell asleep in my arms. The pacifier did help though to get her to fall asleep when I put her in the bouncer, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
After that, we came back home to settle for a little while, and as we were relaxing, Meghan and Grandma came back. Meghan had a new plush kitty in her arms, squeezing it to death, and was showing off how it could purr and moves its head if you pressed on its back. She wasn't too attached apparently, since I can see it right now on this desk as I'm typing, and Meghan's fast asleep. For some reason I can't stand that girly little plushy thing, but with Meghan it irks me the most, because her toys bother me, because she can't even roleplay well. All her names for her toys suck. Her pig is named Piggy, how original, huh? And she named this cat Milkshakes. Milkshakes, for God sakes!! Hey, that rhymed.
Anyway, we only relaxed for a little while, because around 5 we were leaving to see Kelly's friend Joan and have dinner with her family and a few friends. My parents said I'd do ok, because they had a son named Johnathan who was around my age. I was a little edgy about this, especially after seeing Joan and Craig, her husband, but he had his room in the basement, and this is the best interaction with someone I've had all week. He's totally into computers and video games, and he's a sophomore right now, so were discussing things like comparing cities, talking about computers, which by the way, he has an awesome one, it's a Vaio, lucky b*****d. We went up to eat, and were treated to hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, and a mixed salad that I'm sure Russell would have enjoyed, it was full of ranch and cheese and bacon, it was just missing chocolate pudding.
After dinner, the adults went to talk, so Johnathan offered to show me around Staunton a bit. He didn't live too far from Hardee's, so I grabbed a milkshake (damn cat) and we walked around the neighborhood. We blabbed about the usual smallness and how lame the place was, all the while he was getting honks and waves. We joked about how he was gonna get asked tomorrow about who the hell he was hanging out with, so he dubbed me his bodyguard. I almost wanted to walk up to somebody with him, have him explain me to them, and start talking in Spanish, just to get a reaction. We walked to Staunton High, which is where he goes, and is actually a Elementary, Middle, and High school practically joined at the hip, and if you go to all of them throughout your life, he told me all you do is just move down the street as the years go by. The houses next to the school are practically a running jump away, and he says those kids are still late to class. Their driveways are practically the parking lots.
I got a look inside, I think there was a volleyball game going on, some kind of excitement. I had to use the bathroom real bad, so we ran in there. I must say their bathrooms are a bit more well kept than ours. I did have to laugh at the fact that they used a chain and lock to keep the toilet roll in place. Oh, and the stall graffiti was a nice look back at the Dane Cook stuff; it read as follows:
STAUNTON SUCKS YOU SUCK YOUR MOM SUCKS
We made it back, took some nice footage of everyone eating and holding Sophia, and made it back so we can get some early rest. Oh, by the way, this is a dumb thing to say so late, but I did confirm the trip to Kelly's dad's. We're leaving at 8 tomorrow morning for a 5 hour drive to Branson, to spend a day there, so it's an overnight trip, so I might not make an entry tomorrow night, but we'll see how it goes.
I think that's it for now, so I wish everyone another good day at school, and I'll think about trying to visit someone on Labor Day, we'll see how things go.
