It's 2:00, I'm tired, and I've had 3 cups of coffee and nothing has worked to get me up. Not to mention costant interruptions while trying to be on the good computer have kept me away, I think I can safely say I can write this in peace finally. There goes that damn cuckoo clock going off, I wanna sock it in the face when it pops out.
Let's see, not much to say in terms of a morning. Like I said yesterday, Grandma's Birthday was today, but no one seemed really celebratory. Uncle John came in, wished her one, and went off in full camo gear to go hunting. Grandpa was out working like he had nothing else better to do. You know, I honestly believe he works so damn much outside cause he doesn't like being here.
I didn't have much to offer either, I took a shower, got dressed, kissed her good morning, and wished her a Happy Birthday as well. I got a Thank You though. sweatdrop
Some kind of strange Birthday gift, we went to Litchfield to get Sophia's pictures taken at the Portraits section in Wal-Mart. This was easier said than done, because now we had to cram Grandma in the car with me and Sophia in the back, and we have enough trouble by ourselves. It was a short drive though, so we managed. It was another one of those Super Wal-Marts, so I guess these are pretty common, and Wal-Mart seems to be monopolizing the Midwest.
I guess the photo thing went smoothly, I didn't really pay attention, I got caught up in my MAD magazine. I've run out of things to read, so I'm buying like magazines out the wazoo! Hehe..I made up a word. Anyway, things went smoothly, and the photographer is really nice, and is a friend of Grandma's, so when the 1st picture wasn't too good, she erased it and started the package over, and you're not allowed to do that, but had you been there, you would have had to admitted that the 1st picture was lame, and should not have had to have been included in the package, no one would have wanted that photo, Sophia looked mad. The other photos looked really nice, there's one where they gave her angel wings, and one where it looks like she just had a bath, and she's all smiles and laughing, I can't wait until we get them, but they were taken I guess because Grandma wanted these photos, so she got first priority, there were mostly for her after all.
We drove home, and relaxed until around 5, when we were supposed to get ready to go to La Fonda, the Mexican Restaurant she wanted to eat at. It was in Edwardsville, yet another city close to Statunton, and I must say, if I could live in any of the cities, Edwardsville would definetly be my choice. It actually is a decent size town with nice stores, and lovely old houses from the 1800's, that look perfect. The restaurant, for being right next to a Fashion Bug and a Hallmark, is really quite small, but they said it does really good business, and that there's another joint restaurant near that Wal-Mart in Litchfield. We walked in, and I could tell right off the bat they were right, this place does real nice for themselves.
It calls itself an "Authentic Mexican Restaurant", and from what I saw, they must have gathered every Mexican in the Midwest and dragged them here, cause so far up until now the ethnicity climb was lame, and Kelly said that even though I was joking, I was probably right.
Uncle Scott and Aunt Sherry were already there waiting for us, we'd had a party reserved for 12, but only 8 of us showed up. My Grandpa, ever the polite person, decided to order right when he got there, not waiting for anyone else to show up, so we got a little rushed, me especially, since I took a while to decide. I ended up choosing Carnitas, and I won't bother going into what everyone else had, but I will say that Uncle Scott and Aunt Sherry got Sophia a little duck as a gift, and she really enjoyed messing around with it.
The highlight of the meal of course was when my dad snuck to the waiter in Spanish that it was my Grandma's Birthday, so they came out with the huge Sombrero and sang to her, and gave her free Fried Ice Cream, and we got it all on video camera, thanks to me. 3nodding
We drove home, and just kicked back. I watched some Tommy Hilfiger reality TV show, which actually got me interested, which is a big suprise, usually I can't stand those shows. And I got Meghan and everyone else to sleep finally, so I'm writing this.
So, tomorrow's plans are basically trying to get everyone's gifts, and I think Kelly is taking me to St. Louis tomorrow to see The Arch, so that sounds like fun. I'm kinda sleepy, but IM'ing people is making up for it, I love writing this.
