Tonight I watched The Grudge for the first time. My dad rented it, and had no idea what it was, besides the fact that it was in Japanese, and looked scary. He had picked out the original version, 呪怨 (Ju-On) and realized in the opening few scenes with the creepy little boy making that distinct sound that we were watching the original Grudge. eek
That being said, I really didn't think it was that scary. The kid was SUPER CREEPY, and while the scenes themselves were scary, I can't imagine having nightmares about it or anything.
It also provided me with an opportunity to test my Japanese skillz, and I kept pointing out places where the subtitle translations could have been better, much to the annoyance of my dad. n_n
Me: She didn't actually say, 'Is anyone here?' you know. It was more like, 'Forgive me for my intrusion.' 3nodding
Dad: Can we just watch the movie...? sweatdrop
Still, though, it was really good. ^^ Now I wanna watch Ringu!! whee
