Guess what? Fear my stories! Ok....you don't have to...
As he sat there, feeling a little more than useless, thoughts were whirring through his head. What to build, how to build it, what its purpose and function were to be. He kept on coming back to this one thought though, why was he thinking of mechanics? His grades were above average but still not that great. He wanted out of this seemingly normal world. He chuckled as he asked himself to define normal. What is normal? Normal is just a word is it not? Normal defines something that has no purpose to life. Or is it just something that is perfect? No that couldn’t be, considering nobody was normal. Everybody had something odd about them and like Norrik had thought before, normal was just a word.
He wished that he could fly through the air like the dragons mentioned in all the fictional stories. He wished he could fight along side the elf’s in a glorious battle against orc’s and other such fictional creatures. He wished that he could live underground, singing songs and digging up precious metal with the dwarves. Of course he could live without drinking. That part was just fine with him. He didn’t like the idea of getting drunk. Or matching wits with a drunken dwarf. He was taken out of his thoughts rudely by other people wandering into class, chatting about god knows what. He looked up at the clock and sighed. It was only one o’clock and math class was just about to begin. That meant useless calculations and what not. Stuff that Norrik didn’t much care for at the moment. He looked outside to see that the sky had clouded over with dark rain clouds. Norrik sighed once more. He hated math even though he was the top of his class and was usually the one stuck helping the other students when they needed help because the teacher had become lazy. He placed his head in his hands and slowly started to rub his temples. He wished the day would end. Even though he was one of the smartest kids in the school, he couldn’t stand to be there. Soon everybody was seated and attendance was being called. He raised his hand when his name was called, he thought it was useless to say ‘I’m here’ or whatever else the students said when their name was called. Instead Norrik got out his binder and started to work on his next big project. He had to create a play for drama, and he had all month to do it. Unlike most students who would rather wait till the last minute to do their work, Norrik got out a pencil and started to write. He had finished the math booklet that they had just started last class, therefore he had nothing better to do. He was ahead in all his classes but one. His parents were actors and they wanted their son to be the same. It was one class Norrik hated. He looked up to see his best friend Senri sit down. She looked ever so graceful, even though she never wore dresses or anything fancy. In fact, she wore guy clothes, claiming that they were more comfortable and that the girl like clothing only made her irritable. Not that it mattered to Norrik. He liked her just the way she was. Only thing was, was that she enjoyed dancing, singing and acting. She hated Math. Norrik picked up his stuff and walked over to a desk right beside her.
“Hey Senri.” He said as he sat down.
“Oh hey Norrik. I got switched into this class.” Senri said as she looked at him. “Didn’t you sit over there?” She pointed to Norrik’s now empty desk.
“I did, but I felt like moving. The sun sometimes gets on my paper and it’s very uncomfortable to have sunlight beaming into your eyes.”
Senri burst out laughing. “That is so true!”
Norrik chuckled. “Yeah, it’s annoying too.” He opened up his binder and looked at a picture that he had drawn in grade eight. He then felt the eyes of somebody else and he looked up to see that Senri had stood up to look at the picture.
“Wow…that’s a good picture Norrik.” Senri said as she looked at it, her blue eyes drawing in every tiny detail. Her black hair was short, and it was close to obscuring her eyes. He couldn’t help but wonder if the world were different, just what kind of creature would she be? Would she be an elf, graceful, beautiful and everlasting? Or would she be a normal human, still beautiful and graceful, just not as lasting as an elf? Or would she be one of the ‘chosen’, able to ride the most glorious creature of them all. Would she have been born a dragon rider? He chuckled to himself. Of course those were only fantasies. Dragons didn’t exist and neither did elves. Those were just mythical and of course people liked those, because they can forget the real world and just wish they were apart of something bigger. Something better than the real world. Norrik sighed and looked past Senri and to the black board.
Senri sensed Norrik’s discomfort and sat back down. She looked over to him though just to make sure he was alright. Norrik had short, spiky blonde hair, and his eyes were a greenish blue. His face and more of an elfish look, even though the elves didn’t exist but that was what she thought of it. She looked back down at the booklet that was just put on her desk and she sighed in defeat.

I love this guy so much, he's so adorable!
