A mysterious plague has been sweeping across the land. I say mysterious, because few people seem to not be infected in the least from this plague, but many other people have fallen ill to it, and many more than that have died. Me and my wife, Mina, are no exception. Our son, Tornix, has fallen ill to this plague as well. Without a cure in sight, Mina, along with my old master Dante, Mina's mother Sophia, and Sophia's latest bodyguard Leon, are doing everything they can to take care of Tornix...while I look for a cure. I didn't tell any of them I left, though they probably already know why I would leave.
I've travelled to many of the kingdoms within our realm, the kingdoms of the demons, vampires, lycanthropes, elves, dragons, even the humans and slayers, but everywhere I went, the plague had already been. At this point, I was now, offically, desperate. The angels had been enemies with the dark races and intolerant of the others...kinda remind me of how secluded the elves always want to be. Anyway, towards the demons, me being one of them, we were more than enemies. Demons and angels have been feuding for god knows how long at this point, and here I find myself, trying to get help from them.
Upon entering their kingdom, the guards had pointed their weapons at me...oh yeah, I'm of to a great start with this place. Before I could even say anything, the voice of an old man came from behind the guards. ?????: "Put down your weapons...this one means no harm." Guard 1: "But sir...he came from the outside..." ?????: "Most people that are not of our race fall under that group of people." Guard 2: "He might be infected!" ?????: "He's not. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to make it here. Don't you agree?" Guard 1: "Well-" Guard 2: "We can't take that chance!" ?????: "YOU GOING TO HAVE TO!!!" With that, both guards pratically jumped back, letting me through. Odd, old man having a loud voice like that. ?????: "Welcome to the pure realm of the angels, Jared. We've...well, I'VE been expected you." He said while staring back and forth at the two guards. Jared: "I'm honored that you'd let a demon like me within your realm, lord...um..." Frenum: "Frenum-" Guard 1: "The elder of our village." Guard 2: "Be respectful towards him!" Frenum: "OH SHUT UP YOU TWO!!!" Guard 1 & 2: "Yes sir! Sorry sir!"
WTF!? The elder of the angel's kingdom comes to greet me!? Apparently, the feuds of the past were something to be left behind, at least for now. Frenum: "Jared, I know what you came here for, and I'm happy to tell you that we have a way." Jared: "Wha?...you...have a cure?" Frenum: "Huh? Oh yes, we have that as well. Please, follow me." As well? Well then wtf else is he talking about??? The two of us headed over to his home. The angels that we passed by didn't even give me a passing glance. Everyone was just living their lives as if this plague was nothing. To them, it was nothing. I didn't see any ill people, no dead body piles, no nothing. We reached Frenum's house and went inside.
Frenum: "The illness that has been spreading across the land has not affected us and certain others, but there's a reason. This 'plague' is nothing more than a curse, a spell crafted by dark forces." Jared: "A spell...that causes only certain people to fall ill and, eventually, die?" Frenum: "Yes. This spell has not affected us, because we have been protecting ourselves within the barrier around our kingdom. As for others that haven't been affected by the spell, ones outside the barrier, I would suspect they haven't been infected because they would pose a threat to the person that cast the spell upon this land." Jared: "...pose a threat? How could they? If they're sick they...wouldn't pose a threat." Frenum: "I have seen the nature of this spell within the minds of the infected. It seems like an illness affecting the body, but really it's form of ESP, an attacking of the mind. The wielder of the spell reaches deep within the minds of the infected, and in the process, interrupts the bodily fuctions. The people that have died from this 'illness' failed to protect themselves against the attack upon their minds." Jared: "...Lucifer..." Frenum: "What?" Jared: "My son has been affected by this curse, which is why I came here. When I looked into my son's mind...I saw all the people that were under the spell...and Lucifer standing in front of all of them, ready to kill them all..." Frenum: "Lucifer must be the wielder of the spell, but...how were you able to do that?" Jared: "It's just something I picked up after a long time of living." ...I didn't have the heart to tell him that within the vision, I didn't see my son, but instead saw myself... Frenum: "I see...?" Elder Frenum looked outside the window to see the sun setting.
Frenum: "It's getting late. You should get some sleep. You can stay at my place. I will tell you about how to break the curse tomorrow." Jared: "Alright...um..." Frenum: "Yes? Is there something else you wanted to ask?" Jared: "...yes. There is. When you greeted me at the gates to your kingdom, you said knew what I came here for, and that you have a way...but you weren't talking about Lucifer's curse." Frenum: "..." Jared: "So what is it that you were talking about?" Frenum: "...you should know what I speak of already...the other 'curse', but unlike Lucifer's, the only person this curse is affecting...is you." Jared: "..." Frenum: "Like I said, we'll talk more about everything tomorrow. Please, go get some rest." With that, the elder went up to his room. I thought it was alittle strange that he'd let someone like me stay at his house, but then again, that's probably to make sure I don't get lynched by the angels...my curse...it's no suprise that he would know about it but...
