Of Updates and NYC BABAY!!!
Yeah, so, I just wanted to put up a quick entry.

Champs (wow, it felt like a while ago) was amazing.

We had to get to the school to do a quick singing runthrough early, since our performing time had been moved up, due to rain.

We got there; my parents were in the audience and my brother stopped by to give me a quick hug before we performed.

It was overcast and we could sense the storm, but the weather gods/goddesses were smiling upon our band that day; when we performed, there was no wind. None. And while it wasn't really warm, it wasn't so cold that our flags would freeze to our tongues (last year's captain tried that during a cold practice with some friends, but their tongues didn't get stuck. Sorry, just a little anecdote that Kelsey told us last year).

It was our best performance.

We had no drops.

The band sounded amazing.

After we performed, though, the wind started coming in. And by the time awards were being handed out, it was pouring. I stood at the fence by my friend Adam, some other color guard people around, and I think Emily the Clarinet was somewhere nearby. Everyone from ELVB watched as we took....

Best overall affect.
Third in our class in New England.
Second in Connecticut.

We were slightly disappointed, some of the seniors more than everyone else, but it didn't last long; we had done amazingly. Second in the state! Second to a color guard who had no tosses in their routine! We took risks, and nailed them to the wall! We were amazing!

Now, for the second part of the title.

Back in May, the BD taped us as we were doing the Memorial Day parade in town, and she sent it in to some association. Long story short, we got accepted to go to New York City and play in their Veteran's Day Parade tomorrow.

So after the competition season ended, we got straight to work on parade stuff. The guard is wearing old uniforms from the year before I came here, along with some new twists to it; white leotard, navy blue pants, new tan shoes and full hand gloves, and some of us get vests (based on the order we're marching in. The five returning are three in front, then two, and then the next three of the new people and then the guys in back. First and third line get vests, but whatever). Our flags are red, white and blue with a big silver star, and are fairly awkward to spin, but we got used to it eventually.

So tomorrow I have to wake up at three AM, get out of here by 3:30 AM to get to the school by four AM, when we leave promptly at 4:30AM. We'll have breakfast at Planet Hollywood with some presentation going on about Vet's day and its history and whatnot, and then we'll get in our uniforms and play in the parade. Then after that we'll get to go on a dinner dance cruise around Manhatten. We'll probably get back to the school by eleven PM, possibly midnight.

And yes, I'm missing school for this.

I'm so excited! I was seriously twitching in my last class of the day today.

Well, I've got to get to bed early. Good thing it got dark early; if it was light at 7:30, I'd never be able to get to sleep.

This is Horse lady, sigining out! You may see me on TV in New York! Eeeeeeeeeiiii!!!!!
