"You don't know what you've lost until you miss it."
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Kayla, otherwise known as Kayla. And she was stuck with a dilemma: two boys were fighting over her, on the verge of being violent.
Shesmineshesmineshesmine.
One was a childhood friend. The one she knew she could get along with, and tell everything.
His name was Jacob.
One was a troublemaker. The one with so many challenges, and she never knew what he would do next.
His name is Theo.
She loved them both, in different way, in the same amount. They both demanded her to choose, pick one, lose the other.
Pickonepickonepickone.
But when a tragedy hit, she was left with one. Her life was never the same...
She still couldn't choose, even when one was gone.

Kayla Thompson, AKA Kayla, was a pretty, funny, and a great girl be around. Just about every guy on Walter High has talked to, and had at least once liked, this one girl. No one didn't know her, no one didn't either hate, or like her. On top of that, her father was the principle, and her mother was the dean of the school. No one messed with Kayla. Then again, Kayla wasn't the type of person you'd have the conscious to mess with. She was too nice.
Contrary to popular belief though, Kayla had never had a boyfriend... nor her first kiss. Sure, people fought for that kiss, and that special spotlight and power to have Kayla Thompson as their girlfriend. But everyone at WHS, Walter High School, knew that the Thompson girl belonged to one person, and one person only: her best friend, Jacob Ride.
Now Jacob wasn't exactly the guy you'd think would go with bright, cheery Kayla; he was more of the type of guy that would rather be in his room playing video games and be kicking a** at WoW/Starcraft all day and night. As a matter of fact, that's what he would be doing... if it weren't for Kayla being right across the street. While she was a blue-eyed, strawberry blond, he was a black-eyed, black-haired boy, since he was half Asian. Jacob was naturally shy, and tented to stick to Kayla wherever they went.
So why did people stay away? Two words: Black Mail. Despite his shy features, Jacob's father was the loud and boisterous, Founder and President of Ride Company. Everyone that could in Walter, the town they lived in, worked for Ride. That meant every one's parent worked under the Ride name. Jacob was a Ride. So if you messed with Jacob, you messed with the Ride Company. Mess with Ride Company, you're messing up your own comfortable life.
Jacob would never do that though. People just assumed he would.
Everyone in Walter knew of Jacob's feelings for Kayla. He gave her everything she wanted, and took her to the high end dinners and parties. But unfortunately, like everyone under the Thompson name was, Kayla was as dense as lead. She had no idea, even though hundreds of people were hinting, including the Ride boy himself. He loved her unconditionally, and cherished her very much.
Jacob chased the oblivious Kayla, until Theodore Voltt moved into town. The moment Theo and Kayla's eyes met, they fell in love.
The whole town knew within the hour.
But like everyone else, Theo's parents worked for Ride Company. And they were were pretty low in the ranks too, so many thought Jacob would convince his father to fire them. But he didn't. Instead, Jacob took it as a challenge, a game.
So Jacob fought on Theo's level: street. Theo was from NY, and he knew how to defend himself. But he had a soft spot for family, and his Italian roots made family the most important. He knew he couldn't go hard on Jacob, not with his last name.
Both boys made it obvious they wanted Kayla, but she only saw Theo; never Jacob. To her, they were nothing more than childhood friends that she could tell everything to. And Jacob played that card well. But the Voltt kid had Jacob's one weakness: her. Their battles became a daily thing.
Kayla had a choice in her own little world though. Jacob had invited her to a party for his family's company's anniversary, and Theo had invited her for a road trip to NY and back. She chose Theo.
Jacob was heartbroken. He didn't even put up a fight during his fight with Theo. Theo decided to settle the score. Theo told Kayla to meet him at the outskirts of town. The same with Jacob. He told them he would meet them, but he never said that the friends would meet.
So when they only found each other there, Kayla blew a top. She knew that Jacob hated Theo, and though she didn't know why, she thought that Jacob had done something horrible without even considering his character.
As she stormed off, Jacob confessed. Kayla didn't even look at him.
The next time she saw him, he was dead. He had been hit by a car. The car she was in with Theo. A hit and run.
Of course, she and Theo kept their mouths shut, but the whole town was grieving, and some were giving dirty looks towards the new couple.
As the days past, she realized how much of a role Jacob played in her life, and how ungrateful she had been to him, his generosity, and his feelings. Everything reminded her of how much she missed him, and how much she tried to deny it ever since Theo came.
But in his will, Jacob wrote one sentence that shocked the entire state. Jacob, the passed heir to a multi-million dollar company had stated in his will, "Give everything to Kayla. Everything."
Even though he was dead, Kayla was faced with one more choice:
Leave the small town of Walter with Theo, the bad boy of her dreams, and the one whom will give her the thrill of her life, or stay in the town where she and Jacob grew up together; the place where she truly belongs?
