I wasn't sure how long I slept out on the beach, the sun creeping in and out of the clouds above me. It would be easy to calculate with my receipt from the casino and to check the current time, but the fun of the spontaneity in the trip would most likely be lost in the entire matter of factness. All I knew was that I was contemplating robotic rebellions one minute, and the next I was scrambling towards my Login with bubbles of laughter in my throat. The sudden downpour pelted my skin and the warmth surprised me.
Summer was most certainly on its way, but a summer shower so early in the season? The weather had not mentioned it, but the rain was a pleasant gift. A small twist in my stomach was a reminder that the rain almost felt like it used to. Nevertheless I could still hear the small pings the droplets made as they made contact with my nearly metallic skin.
The ride home was spent talking to my Login, who had a bit of an attitude all his own. We discussed simple things like town politics and his preferences in fuel. By the end of the trip, I learned a bit too much about my vehicle. Mentally I made a note to steam clean the entire interior of the vehicle..twice.
After making sure Login was plugged and tucked in for the night, I made my way up the steps of the fire exit. The club had yet to be reopened since my return, but I could hear Melodeau hard at work. The first floor was filled with the heavy noise of a vaccuum cleaner as Kluteau also worked to get ready for everything to return to 'normal'. I was more than ready for everything to start going back to the way it was. Slipping into my Aekean undergarments and fluffy car slippers, I found herself curling up in my bay window with my Bludeau plushie in one hand, and a mug of blueberry coffee in the other.
Staring out into the town a familiar wave of calm settle over me. Even as the sun started to set the clanks of metal continued to echo against the buildings. Aekea's heartbeat was as sure as my own. Leaning my head backwards, I took a deep breath and realized that not only were both heartbeats similiar, but they beated in unison.
Truly, I was a Mechanical Child.
