Several souls, no connection whatsoever.
Soon to be bound by the strings of fate.
A simple tune in each of their hearts.
Soon, they will be placed together.
And together, they will make history.
Druggies. Drop-outs. Disowned.
Their story begins in a park.
They only looked at the others once.
A cello, a violin, a flute, a piano, a harp, a clarinet.
They each sat ten feet from each other.
They sat in a very familiar order.
Violin, cello, harp, flutes, clarinets, then piano.
The middle of it all, is the park fountain.
They stared at that fountain.
They counted every drop of water.
Slowly, slowly, they became one in song.
Once it was finished, they smiled.
They all came again the next day.
And again. And again.
They came, as the people flocked.
Such a sad songs they played.
But filled with hope, they shined.
Each soul had a story.
Those stories became their story.
And their story continued, until they could continue no more.
They were known as the Fountain Orchestra.
"There is nothing like listening to children play with all their might."
-
Cayen was a violinist.
Sergio was a cello player.
Lee was a pianist.
Rose played the harp.
Helen played the clarinet.
Stephanie played the flute.
They had their own stories, from drugs, to suicidal thoughts, from broken families, to broken hearts, they were just a bunch of misfits trying to fit their own place in the world.
Somehow they ended up in their town's park, trying to earn some money the only way they knew how: music. None of them had sheet music, so the only thing you heard in the park qwas a bunch of horrible noise. Helen and Stephanie, Steph, were constantly going at it for sound dominance, while Lee and Rose glared at each other from ten feet away because he was using an electric keyboard that he found at a pawn shop, while Rose had to make hers. Sergio and Cayen simply minded their own business, but the constantly interruptions from the others nibbled at them.
As the days went on, and as they returned to their usual spots to play their music, the teens found themselves staring at the fountain that they sat in a circle around. The water, counting every so often, became something like a conductor. After months of playing ten feet away from each other, their paces finally sychronized. Before they knew it, people began to gather around the fountain as they played.
They their own melodies. No one cared, because to the rest of the world, it sounded like a professional song: powerful, strong, uplifting, simple, complex, sweet, painful, sad.
An invisible bond formed between these six teens and their heart and fates were officially intertwined.
It was only then did someone reach out to converse with the others. Sergio, the most soft-spoken, had simply said, "Good job everyone. See you tomorrow?" Everyone whole-heartedly agreed.
Eventually they came eariler and earlier than the people expected, and the six of them would talk about what song to do, or what was your name even. As time continued to move, the bond grew stronger, and stronger, to the point all of them thought that the group, known to the locals as the, "Fountain Orchestra," was more important to them than their lives.
Soon, they caught the eyes of the newspaper, the mayor even! Their songs, and bitter tales shocked the entire town. But they didn't care; they had each other. Rumors spread.
But when their little family is threatened to be torn apart, their bond is tested. After spending the last seven years with each other, the Fountain Orchestra is forced to choose: their own dreams and goals... or their friendship.
