Gaia Community Discussion.
Where the COMMUNITY, DISCUSSES GAIA.
Now some of us might not entirely understand what exactly this entails.
One thing it does not involve, is bitching about updates or random item generators.
That's what site feedback is for.
Next, we have another problem.
There sure are a lot of threads where people post their personal experiences.
Like
"Hey, i just bought a cheap /whatever/ in the marketplace. discuss: good deals in the marketplace"
That doesn't work, because not only is it low content, and has absolutely nothing to do with gaia, but it's also spam, but it invites abuse, involving people bitching at you to "OMG GIVE THAT BACK TO THE SELLER HE MADE AN HONEST MISTAKE YOU ARE THE MEANEST MEANIE EVER YOU MEANIE" Now, they won't necessarily call them a meanie, but still, it's bad. just bad.
And then there's the hit and runs.
We sure get a lot of these on EI day and MC day.
Basically, a Hit and Run is a topic that invites one post replies.
"New MCs, like or dislike?"
AND THEN THERES THE ITEM LISTS
******** CHRIST
WHY
JUST WHY
"Oh hay a new random item generator is out, let's list the items and post it in the gcd"
******** WHAT THE ********
THIS HAS NO DISCUSSION WHATSOEVER
NEXT, WE HAVE THE ONE THING I HATE THE MOST
******** you mister minimod
********
you
you have no right whatsoever to do anything other than report and move on when it comes to a misplaced thread
AND THEN WE HAVE THE ASSHOLES WHO TRY AND MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK COOL BY COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN.
DO I REALLY HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THEM?
next, there's people who ramble when they don't really know whats going on.
yeah, thats right
i'm looking at you, CENSORED.
ALSO, IF YOU HAVE A GOOD THREAD, IT SHOULD NOT NEED SPOONS.

While I agree with you 100% (I've journaled for a long time on LJ and have never had a problem creating a 100-comment meta post without ******** 'spoons' ) the problem I see with not using spoons is that only 10-20% of current GCDers bother to read your topic in full. And of those, only half have the analysis skills to compile an appropriate response.
I tend to write for my audience and I just don't trust the intelligence and attention span of 80% of the GCD enough to write a decent meta piece without the TL;DR tacked on the end.
I could just do it and get like 3 replies, but then I wonder what the point of that is if I want to discuss something? If nothing else, hit&run replies keep the topic on the front page and therefore create better odds of someone decent replying D:
Sigh. Thoughts? Solutions?
Captcha: of Bottom. Indeed.
