Today I will cover a way to master the technique of writing your favourite genre.
Question:I have been working on a specific genre since I began writing, but lately I've wanted to try a new one. How do I learn to write that genre?
Answer: Read. Yes, it really is that simple. To learn the techniques of a specific genre, read novels in that same genre. You will pick up ideas, techniques, and you will discover your own style to write the genre. If you know people who read the genre ask them to recommend some of their favourite authors, ask the librarian, ask the clerk at a bookstore. They will be able to recommend some good authors for you to read. Once you've read up in the genre of your choice, try your hand at a short story or two, and then move on to the big deal.
