M-My ribbon! How could Miten have my ribbon? Yzla thought in a panic. Her eyes narrowed on the familiar blonde cat sitting in the corner of the room.
“Roedin!” she gasped, native Wiccan slipping from her mouth.
The other cat merely nodded, and said, “Yzla.”
Her eyes immediately went back to Miten, who was fingering the Wiccan lettering on the satin. His hand mainly lingered over the characters for, “love,” and for, “hate.” Yzla opened her small cat-mouth to explain, but Miten beat her to words. “Zanazu,” Miten said quietly, her new name echoing in the study. Yzla remembered this tone from when she first met Miten: bitter. “Is it true that you are… a witch?”
Yzla bit her lip. Her fang nibbled at the flesh as she thought of what to say. “Miten… I-”
“Are you, or are you not, a Wiccan?!”
The harshness of his tone made her cry, “Yes! I am a witch!” Yzla leaped into the air, and snatched the ribbon in his grasp. The purple lettering fell from the clothe as it surrounded Yzla into a ball, in which she broke free from as her true form: a female witch. “I, I mean, I know what you’re thinking Miten, but please, I didn’t know that my ribbon was still in tact-” Yzla stumbled over her words, using the Wiccan, “I,” instead of the demon, “I,” she had been taught.
“Get out.”
She stopped, her eyes widened with surprise. “H-Huh?”
“I said, GET OUT,” Miten shouted, his shadowed eyes beginning to turn his fearsome gold.
“Miten!”
“OUT, BEFORE I BEHEAD YOU, YOU WITCH.” Hurt, the witch sprinted out of the study, and down the hall towards the exit. Her yellow-ish eyes made sure to bite at her former lover before she had gotten out of Miten sight. Roedin, who was still in the corner, didn’t seem like he was moving. Miten’s golden eyes shot steel at him. “Didn’t you hear me? Get out of my house!”
Roedin simply smiled, and made his way towards the door before saying flatly, “Yzla was mine first, you demon scum,” and scampering out of Miten demonic rage.

Demons were only allowed to love two species if they wished to be socially acceptable: other demons, and humans. Humans usually stretched it a bit, but most families were allowed to choose from those two groups.
On the other side of the social scale, were animals and witches. Animals were considered to be under demons to the point they were just too uncivilized. The Wiccan were wiped out after a colossal man-hunt several hundred years ago, in which a witch or wizard was found by the amount of magic he or she had. They, the Demon Government, had tried so hard to rid of their magic-using counterpart before, but the magic of the Wiccan Government was always too strong. The Wiccan’s only weak point is that they had a hard defending themselves physically, and were often klutzy and unlucky in person. But the demons managed to find a way to use those points of weakness to destroy the Wiccan capital of the world: Wiccazarh, home to some of the most powerful witches and wizards that had ever lived. But they were all dead… or so the demonic government thought.
In reality, the Wiccan people eventually learned to hide their magic by placing all their magical powers into an object of their choosing. They then took the form of an animal, or the lowest form a living being could take before becoming a microorganism or a thing. They also preferred to take it because it lowered the chance that a demon would interact with them almost a 100%. The Wiccans than had to keep that object on their person if they ever wanted to change back, or use a spell. But those spells had to be small, because the DG were very cautious when it came to magic outside demon borders, where the Wiccan lived.
The strongest witch who was still alive after this ordeal was Yzla (Yee-za-la or Ee-sha-ra) of the South, or “The Borderline Witch.” Her home had been located at the border of Wiccan territory, and had been the first line of defense against the demons. And she had done a good job for several months before she was forced to retreat to the Wiccazarh. It was there is Yzla change herself into a cat; her magic stored in a grey ribbon with Wiccan writing on it. Unreadable to anyone who wasn’t a Wiccan, it said, “I see Nothing, but I feel the Hate all around Me. What is Love, when One only sees the Hate?” And her fiancé, Roedin of the North, changed into a cat as well, with a collar as an item.
Now Yzla was known for being too soft, and for being one of the most accident-prone witches of Wiccazarh. She was powerful, but with power, came misfortune. This came into play when Yzla lost her ribbon during the chaos when Wiccazarh was destroyed, and when the poor witch was taken by the powerful - and drop-dead-sexy - demon prince, Miten, as a pet! But without her ribbon, Yzla had no way to talk, nor write: she was powerless!
Miten, on the other hand, mainly craved a companion. He was fourth in line, and the last one, for the crown of the DG, and though he was pretty far from being ruler, they were pushing him to get a bride, in case the other three princes were to die without heirs. And though female demons and humans alike raved over him, he was attracted to any of their kinds. So when he found Yzla, he found himself taking a liking to the small black cat who could only mew or purr: not squawk or scream. So he found himself taking her home. Animals were acceptable only as wild pets, no matter how small. But Miten saw Yzla, or as he renamed Zanazu (love in his native demon language) , as a inside pet. So, poof! Next thing Yzla knew, she was in her human form… naked. Miten, not prepared for that, immediately gave her his jacket, and took her out shopping for clothes. With Miten’s powerful magic, no one was able to suspect that Zanazu was an animal… or Wiccan.
In the mean while, Prince Quentin, second in line, was found dead in his bedroom. He was killed by Wiccan magic - the lack of dark residue made that known. There was also evidence that the prince had had a Wiccan item, and that someone had taken it after the he was killed. It shocked the entire government that their own prince was murdered on their own grounds. It was announced only amongst the DG that the Wiccans were indeed still alive… and they wanted revenge. Miten, along with the third in line prince, Terrance, were not notified of this because they were technically not part of the DG.
Time passes, and it wasn’t long for Zanazu to fall in love with the sly, kind, yet sarcastically cute Miten. In her human form, she couldn’t speak to Miten at all: her language was Wiccan-based, after all. So she slowly learned the Demon language from her master/crush. Miten had already loved her, to his surprise. And for some time, they embarked on a love that seemed to float on endless clam waters. That is, until a Wiccan appeared at Miten’s door: Roedin! The waters then turned harsh, as Yzla was revealed to be a witch by her former lover. But Yzla desperately denied these charges: her ribbon was thought to be long gone by now, and her heart honestly belonged in the demon world. Yzla liked where she was now. But soon after Miten discovered Yzla’s secret, Prince Terrance was killed. His older brother, dying in his arms, only whispered, “Beware the Wiccan.”
In this story of an impossible love, Yzla must chose: go with her fiancé, Roedin, and kill the demon she had come to love, yet always hated, or stay with Miten, cut all ties with her past family, friends, and magic, and fight for a world of peace where animal, demon, human, and Wiccan all seem to collide in peace.
