She is this Hive’s Queen.
Even if she was only a clone of the original Queen, she is a Queen nevertheless.
Even if all her children think she is the original, and the ones who she did not make with her King think so too.
She is this Hive’s Queen.
Even if the King wasn’t hers to begin with, and he is actually a frozen Knight of the original Queen.
Even if the person she wanted to be her King was actually her first child, and her personal Knight.
She is this Hive’s Queen.
Even when she is blessing her children with love, and with luck.
Even if she wants to die because of the loneliness and guilt of lying to her children.
She is this Hive’s Queen.
And until her mother awakens, she will always be… no matter how much she wants to run away.
And though time passes, she will never die.
Because she is this Hive’s Immortal Queen.
”I love you, Rye.”
-
Hundreds of years ago, there was a great hive. This hive was filled with thousands of bees, each and every one of them Immortal. Their Queen, also their mother, was also Immortal. She was a great Queen. She and the hive lived on a small island in the middle of the Pacific. She gave birth to every one of them: her Worker bees, her Fighter bees, her Builder bees, and her Knight/King bee. The Queen was beautiful by bee standards, and she was very kind. She loved her children, grandchildren, and so on, and she loved her King bee. Her life was perfect.
That is, until the humans came.
And though she fought admirably, commanded her forces excellently, she failed to win against the intruding humans. She was sent into an energy-saving coma. Her love, the King and Knight, though he was wounded, flew desperately across the Pacific, only resting on landward birds. When they finally made to land, the twosome barely alive, they made a home in an abandoned hive in an national park. By the time the Queen awoke, her King was dead. Using the last of her strength, the Immortal Queen gave up her life to her beloved Immortal King, and to her clone daughter: another Immortal Queen. But most of the energy was given to the younger Queen, leaving the King in a coma-like state.
So when the clone awoke, seeing her, “mother,” and, “father,” dead, she swore to revive her family. So using the spirit of the previous King, and the spirit of the previous Queen, she gave life to the next Immortal: her personal Knight. She then continued to recreate a hive that matched her pre-set memories from her mother: a hive of Immortal bees.
Soon, main land bees took notice of these bees. They were stronger, and they did not die easily. They were natural born killers when on the field, and defended their hive like monsters. They were overwhelmed, and when a normal bee entered their hive, they never came back out. Most bees, and humans, learned to stay out of the way of this particular hive.
But like the original Queen, the clone was very kind. When a bee came into the hive, she would welcome them with open arms. As long as they became Builder bees, or a Fighter Bee, they were allowed to live, and have a family with another bee. Her other condition is that they, and their descendants were no longer allowed to leave the hive, meaning they were no longer able to become Worker bees.
As the hive grew, the Queen didn’t mind. She lived inside her large room, and worked on giving her parents life. She was sure that after they had enough energy, they would be revived, and they would tell her why they were dying in this hive, when she was the only other one alive in an empty hive. She had so many questions.
Why didn’t she die when other Queens passed away?
Why was she feeling so many things for her Knight?
But most of all, who was she?
What’s her real name?
”Jenna.”
