Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was an outstanding movie and it made me want to go see it over and over again sucked. I am not obsessed and go gaga over Harry Potter movies, i enjoy them. I thought The Order of the Phoenix was purely amazing. Why? It had a mystery, it had a plot, it had tons of magic and action. Here is my rating for it...(A 10/10 means i want to see it a second time and maybe even again): 8/10.
THBP (Half blood prince) was quite pathetic compared to the other movies in the saga. I DID NOT read the book. Amanda (my one amigo), read the book and said that in the beginning (when all the black spirits are floating around) did NOT happen.
*-*-*-SPOILERS-*-*-*
Everyone knows how Dumbledore dies correct? Well, apparently, in the book, Dumbledore is supposed to be struck by the Avadacadavra(sp?) Curse and fly out the window and burst into magnificent flames. In the movie, he just slowly leans backwards out the window and falls..
There were a total of 3 1/2 action scenes: 1. The beginning where all of the Death-Eaters begin to destroy the muggle world (i would consider this 1/2 of an action scene).
2. Harry attacks Malfoy with the "Sectumsempra" spell he learns from the Half-Blood Prince's Potion's Book. This too, i'd consider 1/2 of an action scene because it lasts about 45 seconds.
3. Bellatrix Lestrange sets the Weasleys' House afire and taunts Harry with the famous "I killed Sirius Black! Hahaha!". Harry, Ginny, Lupin (and Mr. Weasley?) ran after Harry and try to protect him because it was obvious she was luring him into a trap. (1 action scene)
4. Harry and Dumbledore travel to find another one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. (I don't feel like explaining what it is). Harry has to feed Dumbledore a potion that makes him spaz/twitch and act like he's dieing. Afterwards they recieve the Horcrux and all of these demons come. Dumbledore shows an amazing display of fire magic. (1 action scene)
5. In the end Harry confront Severus and tries to cast spells he learned from the Potion Book, Snape blocks and reflects them back at Harry and says something cocky like: "Trying to use my own spells against me, Potter? Yes, that's right, I'm the Half Blood Prince." (Lasts about 45 seconds, and this too, i would consider 1/2 of an action scene). Yes i did the math (hopefully correctly) and it adds up to 3 1/2.
In the whole movie, Malfoy, cried....a lot.. And everyone would enter the school via some warp cupboard which he had to check on EVERY 5 MINUTES!!!! One minute he'd put in an apple (god knows why! Maybe to see if it was working, idk) and another a little birdie. I thought it was plain annoying.
*-*-*-END OF SPOILERS-*-*-*
This movie just dragged on and on about pointless knowledge... Well i guess not pointless, but not interesting, except for finding out WTF a Horcrux was..
This movie, i would give a 5/10. If you're not sure weather to still see it or not, i would say "no". This is one of those movies that are not needed to be seen to understand what will go on in the sequel. Please do me a favor and save yourself a good $10 and don't go to the movies to see it.. You don't even need to buy it. I would but only for completion of the whole movie series.
