Adeline sat alone in the hospital room, panicking quite wildly. Several moments ago she'd woken up in the hospital room, after doing something outside, she couldn't quite remember right now. Also, it didn't seem as important now anyway because the fact was, something was wrong with the situation she was in. She didn't understand, not one bit. Her heart wouldn't stop beating at a great speed, she also couldn't breath well for some reason. What could it be? Did it matter? When she had awoken the doctor had told her she'd have to stay, did that mean she was not getting better? They had said, only a few months ago that she was getting better, and then let her stay in the house, where she could do as she pleased as long as she stayed in bed, ate, rested often (more then eight hours), took all the medicine, and behaved. Hadn't she done all that? Now they told her that she was to stay, or at least they were leading off to it.
In so many words the doctor had said that he wanted her to stick around, in the hospital. Adeline didn't quite comprehend the situation, she just flt uneasy. She'd taken the medicine, she'd behaved, and now because of her fainting or something to return to the place she'd been for over two years! It had taken her two years to get out. It wasn't that Adeline wasn't grateful to the doctors, far from it she was happy that she had such a privilege to get better...but all of it...seemed odd. Many of the pieces didn't fit together in this puzzle, at least not perfectly. For a long time Adeline had been watching, trying to understand as best as she could. When she;d watched, she found she couldn't even remembering ever knowing what she was sick with. Her Father had said, in the beginning that it had something to do with her insides, didn't quite a few illness's have...to do with the inside? It was just tiresome, not being able to understand due to people saying one thing, then another and another. What was the truth?
Currents of air swirled, toiled and blew angrily in the room. Adeline was very upset, she didn't know what to do or think about her situation. All was confusing, in a mass bundle and horrifying to her. Her Father had tried to talk to her, but his voice was droned out by the wind. He felt so far, why hadn't he come to her before? To see she was getting better! Maybe then...he'd tell them she didn't belong in the hospital, was fine in her nice house, with her new friend.
Some doctors had tried to get in, the gust of air shot them back. Edeline needed something, someone to hold onto. Someone who would understand she was okay, make some sense. It didn't matter who! She wanted someone to actually come to her and...and...care for her. Yes, it was the hospital, the confusion and the other things. Yet, it was partially because she...felt...what was it? The air kept swirling, the curtains had been sliced at a bit, her powers having gone wild within the room.
"Adeline." Came a voice, it was familiar, made Adeline actually pay attention to it. Not like her Father, whom she couldn't hear and did not want to, or the doctor who was attempting to calm her down. It was, the one person she knew who would always at least, be connected to her and never be able to abandon her, sisters never did that. The air still moved in angry chaos, Adeline felt herself awake, or at least become aware, the air didn't stop, it just continued what it was doing. Tears were spilling on Adeline's face, she had been sitting with the covers falling off the bed. Blue eyes went to the door, she stared wild-eyed, trembling "Elrica" She breathed, more crying came.
Yes! That is the one she needed! Adeline felt so relieved that someone that looked normal, and she knew would understand her, knew that knew her to some degree from the past four years was here. Especially since that person didn't look to be in some uniform like the rest of them, Elrica looked normal. Surely, she could trust her! Still, everything was so...so...frizzled.
Stepping into the hospital, Elrica hurried herself towards her sisters, long black hair fluttering behind her as if it were being carried by the wind. It hadn't taken long to get to the hospital, well it was expected to be such since it was Nieves giving the transportation. She had received orders to deal with Adeline, her twin no doubt, because her twin had been sent to the hospital for fainting. As the doctor who was, in so many words 'briefing' her on the situation put it, when it came to experiments such as Adeline (who was getting doused with drugs for the sake of extinguishing her elemental abilities of air, for Nieves purpose only) were to be taken special care of, Adeline especially due to the progress being swift.
Without even flinching at the sound of howling, Elrica continued her fast pace. She'd changed into a a red sweater, denim pants, flats and let her hair down knowing that if she came in her uniform, it would cause problems, and if she did that the mission would fail. After all, the goal was to calm down her sister, the test subject and not cause anymore damage. If Elrica looked official, it would cause issue's for Adeline's mind state. The girl was probably traumatized. The doctor was continuing his chatter about the situation, as Elrica glanced at her silver bracelet. When he mentioned that the nurses, had tried tackling her down, but failed, this raised a question for Elrica "My question is, why didn't you just sedate her." Her tone was nonchalant, showed no irritation, joy or sadness through her words. Just a simple phrase. Stutters, that's what came from the doctor "I guess we could have...but...we didn't..."He responded. Elrica sighed "Think of it." and she came to the room Adeline was in.
Blue irises went serious, and dull when Elrica noticed her father. She didn't think he had a purpose in being here. Hate wasn't what she felt for her Father, she wasn't sure what she thought of him. He was the man who had done a lot, had a reputation to uphold. Elrica didn't know what her Father thought of her, he treated her fairly, maybe even with pride but Elrica never noticed. The main thing she'd noticed was that he had thrown Adeline to Nieves, as tool. He had probably known Elrica would have followed, even if she hadn't already decided to join Nieves for her own reasons, which would remain secret. All that could have made Elrica hate him, yet again she didn't. He was a blur, nothing more then a blur and never ever could actually be related to Elrica. He wasn't worth her time.
"It may get worse.I can't guarantee, she'll listen to me. You may, simply call for someone who is harsher, and will allow me to spill the beans if necessary. Adeline isn't stupid." Elrica mentioned to a nearby doctor, the one who'd she met when coming to the hospital for the first time. Finally stepping up to the door, Elrica stared at Adeline "Adeline." She called, her voice harmonic. Elrica noticed her sisters action, and took advantage of her sisters seeming to be aware. Elrica gave a gentle smile as her sister spoke her name.
So far all seemed well "Yes, it is me Addy! I'm here, don't worry. I'm sorry for not visiting, I wasn't able to because of my job." She yelled through the air. Adeline was crying "Elly...I can't. I'm confused. So many things don't make sense, and I...have been feeling...I am unsure, but empty." Her win whimpered. Empty? Elrica felt her face soften "I see, what doesn't make sense?" She asked. Adeline gulped several time "The medicine, hospital, Daddy...Nieves...my p-powers. Before...after the new meds...they were so.. low, not there all...I want to understand. Why am I sick? What is making me sick? Why do I have to be here when I was getting better? Why do others have powers? What about the news? What is Nieves? What does Daddy have to do with it? What am I?" A piercing stare came from Adeline. Winds picked up, clawing at Elrica. Elrica breathed in "Addy. Listen, there is lots of things that are unanswered. I'll give you any filler you need, we'll work together. I'll answer some of your questions. First off, the new meds are to assist in progression. Second, you and I both have powers, air and fire. You know that. They are elemental abilities, just like the books." Elrica voiced, unsure how she'd explain. Would she have permission? Its not as if she had a choice. Another Nieves official would help, one who knew more and was higher on the scale.
An idea came "Addy, I'm going to teach you how to control your air. Would you like that?" a nod came from Adeline, Elrica had to help. She swallowed some saliva "Lets start with you closing your eyes, breath in and out a few times. Raise your hands a bit, then slowly lower them." She told her sister, Adeline did what was asked the air seemed to calm. Elrica continued "Now, feel it growing calm, then once you feel it growing calm, make a movement, swift but abrupt like making something stop." Eyes danced. Adeline had done everything right, and the air stopped. Although, everyone waited for Elrica. Elrica stepped in and sat beside her sister "I'll answer your questions about Nieves first, I don't know much, only a little. If i say I can't tell you, I can't because of certain things." She said. Adeline nodded, understanding. Elrica began with a sad look "I should tell you, I work in Nieves as a agent, like a secret agent sort of thing, it is complex as of why and how. Nieves is an organization, lots to do with everything, especially people like us, with powers. They try to work with those powers, and do other things with them. You've probably seen them on the bags you have for the test medicines. The news you heard, was the death of some Nieves officials. Sad, but it happened."
"The meds are to assist not just you but others." Elrica finished, after dozens of questions. Adeline seemed content with the answers. Shortly after a happy grin from her sister Elrica left. She sighed, touching her bracelet lsightly. Ut had gone very well.
