Lucana stood before the council, her once-white wings growing dimmer with each accusation that was read of my Gabriel. She knew he didn't mean to make her feel so horrible, she had known what she had been risking when she had helped her brother. She just wished they would give her a chance to speak up. Gabriel finished and put the scroll away. Paul stood up from his place at the table and began to speak. "Lucana, sister of Who's Name Shall Not Be Spoken, we find you guilty of all acts. How do you plead?" "Guilty." she murmured. Her voice echoed through the still air even though she had whispered. "We have looked over your records of messengry and found that they could lessen the harshness of your sentence. The Lamb has chosen that you will not be permanently banished from the Kingdom on account of these records." Lucana looked up quickly. "Really?" she said. "You will serve a forty year sentence on Earth." I guess that's not that bad. Lucana thought. Forty years isn't that long. "But in order to come back, ou must save twenty lives." I should of known there'd be a catch. Lucana heard the gavel hit the table. "It is done. Lucana, you are to leave immediatley." "Yes sir.' she murmured. She turned and headed toward the door. She walked downm the hall and the down the stairs toward The Gate. Peter looked up from his writing as she approached. "The Council trold me you would be coming." he said as he stood up. He took his key and opened the lock on The Gate. "Give me your key." Lucana reached into her dress pocket and gave him the golden key. As a messenger, she had needed the key to back and forth from the Kingdom to Earth. BUt now that she was leaving for her sentence, she couldn't have it anymore. Peter stepped aside and Lucana stepped through the gates.

Lucana was slammed to the ground. She coughed blood and tried to get up from the previous vicious beating. he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her up. "You will join me!" he snarled into her ear. "I-will-not!" she said. Lucana opened her grey wings, which shoved him off her. She flapped them as quickly and flew up into the air. But, as before, a chain wrapped around her ankle and broght her crashing down. A pair of steel toe boots stepped in fron og her face. "If you don't join me then you will be destroyed." "Destruction is better then joining you cursed horde!" "Then you choose death."

Beep! Beep! MIchael pulled the covers off his face and blearliy looked at his clock. It read 7:45. "Oh no!" He jumped out of bed and pulled out whatever clothes he could find out of his dresser. He pulled on his shoes and then ran down the stairs. he ran past his mother and was out the door and running down the street. He was half way down when he heard a shout. "Michael!" He turned around and saw his mom on the porch. "What are you doing?" "I can't talk right now Mom! I'm going to be late to school!" "But it's only 6:45." "What!?" "Did you forget to set your clock back?" "I guess so..." Michaelk walked back to his house and lied down on his bed. If only I could go that fast in gym. he thought. His mom stopped by his door. "Michael, do you think you can take out the trash? Your father forgot to do it this morning." she asked. "Sure. I've got nothingelse to do." he as he got up. He went down to the kitchen and grabbed the full trash bag. He walked out the back kitchen door and into the alley. It had rained pretty hard lat night and everything was wet. Michael wrinkled his nose,; he hated the smell of wet garbage. As he dropped the bag into the trash can, something around the bend of the alley caught his eye. A trail of grey feathers led from the beginning of the side of the house and around the bend. Curious, he followed the trail around the bend. He stopped short as he came to the end of the trail. A girl in a white dress with grey feather wings was lying there. Michael inched forward a bit. Was that a costume or not? He reached forawrd and brushed the wings with his fingertips. The wings were softer than anything he'd felt before but seemed similar to silk in a way. He kneeled down beside her to check if she was breathing. The girl had light blond hair and thick brown lashes. She was breathing lightly and her dress sleeves were short and showed blue-black bruises on her arms. There were also some blood stains on the front of her dress and around one of the corners of her mouth. Michael shook her lightly; he didn't know whether or not she had any broken bones. "Hey. Are you alright?" he asked. The girl didn't say anything. Maybe I should bring her inside. he thought. But how would his mom react to a girl with wings? He'd have to deal with that later, right now she looked like she needed help. Michael gently picked her up and broght her into the house. getting her through the door was a bit of a problem with the wings but he managed. Holding her with the wings was hard as well. When he walked into the living room he didn't notice one of the wings had brushed against a vase on the piano. CRASH! DOONG! Michael froze. "Michael? Is that you?" His mother's voice came from her room. "Uh...yeah Mom! I...uh...tripped!" he said. Michael hurriedly ran upstairs and put the winged girl on his bed and then ran back downstairs to beat his mom to the mess. He had started to pick pieces up off the floor when his mother came in. "Oh no, it's alright hon. I can get it." she said as she knelt down on the floor. "Alright." he said and went up the stairs to his room. He closed and locked the door behind him. He looked over at the clock which still read the time wrong and then looked over at the winged girl. What was she? Michael looked her over again. THe simple white dress went down to her knees and covered her shoulders and she had simple brown leather sandals on. He would of cinsidered her being an angel if it wasn't for the grey wings. How am I going to wake you up? he thought. He tried shaking her shoulder again but it didn't seem to do anything. He felt her forehead and found that she was a little warm but not enough to be worried. It was then that he realized that she was actually pretty good looking. There was a knock on the door and Michael covered the girl with a blanket and then opened the door a crack. "What is it mom?" he asked. "I just wanted to remind you that you need to start walking to school in a few minutes. What are you doing in there?" "Uh...I'm working on a science experiment right now. In fact, it's pretty delicate so I don't think you should come into my room today." "Alright." "At all." "O-kay." "I'll be out in a minute." His mother nodded and he shut the door.. Michael sighed and uncovered the girl's head. She was going to be hard to hide. He'd have to figure something out after school and he grabbed his backpack. He went down the stairs and walked out. He stuck his head back in the door. "Remember mom, don't go in my room." he said. "I know. Nothing's going to explode in there while you're gone, is there?" "No mom. I'll see you after school." "Have a nice day sweety."
