Chapter 17 Lake of the crystle moon
I went over to my closet and opened it. I neary fell over in surprise. The once nearly empty closet was now full of clothes and shoes. I remember how Hender had made that dress for me and I figgured that he made these as well.
Thanks Hender. I thought. I thought I would have to wear the same three outfits forever.
Your wealcome Marrion. I herd his voice and I grinned.
I flipped thrugh the clothes and I took out a dark golden blouse and dark broun lether pants that had a thin layer of fur on the inside.
The pants fit tightly on my legs but I culd still move in them esaly,and I tucked in the blouse. I looked in the closet again and got a pair of lase-up black lether boots that came up to my knees.
I went over to the full-length mirror that was also a new edition to my room. It was quite nice. The rim was twisted silver that had simdols carved into them and I rememberd them from my teachings.They wer the dragon scrypt meaning piece, harmony, and beauty.
I looked at myself in the mirror and was quite surprised. I hadn't notesed before now but my hair had grown all the way to my waste and I had dark red,allmost crymson, streaks in my hair. I picked up my brush and started to brush my hair. Amazingly I had few tangles, and it was verry soft, almost feathary.
There was a suden knock on the door and Jesse steped in and grinned. I grinned back but didn't say annything.
"You look like a hunter."He joked and I glared at him."But a verry pretty one." I changed my smirk into a proud grin.
"Do you need some thing Jesse?"
"No,I just came to give you this." He handed me a black ribon. "It's to tie your hair back." He explaned. "If your going to fly there,wich you probobly are, you don't want your hair in your eyes and mouth."
"Thanks."I said with a grin. "Could you healp me? I coudn't even pult my hare up in a pony tail without tangaling it." Jesse nodded then came behind me. I looked in the mirror and was surprised to see only me and a black ribon tieing itself into my hair.
"I know." Jesse said finishing the knot. "I'm a full vampire so I don't have a reflection, yours is a little hazzy but you can still see it."
"Oh, okay.Um,thanks."
"Your welcome. There's some shishon down stares want some?"
"What are shishon?"
"There small chocolate cackes with a sort of cream called mishah inside. There a speshalty in Castlidonia."
"Castlidonia?"
"It's the land of the dragons. Were Hender was born. It's in a magical relm, and only dragons know wear the entrenses are.You see the dragons didn't want uninvited humans or demons coming over and causing a mess so they made a few secret entrenses to Castlidonia. Now the only way a human can go there is if a dragon invites them and shows them to the entrence. You'll have to ask Hender if you want to know more. Well is that a yes to the shishon?"
"Sure."
We walked down the stairs and into the living room. I sat down and Jesse went into the kitchen. He came back out with a plate full of the cakes I saw Hender go up stares with. He sat the plate down and I took one. They wer small and round, like donutes without hols.
I slowly took a bite. It was delisious! It was verry sweet and the mishah tasted like pinut-butter. But the thing was, the mishah was a seagreen. Just a little lighter then Hender's eyes.
Glad you like them. I herd Hender's voice making me jump. You too Jesse. Jesse then started to giggle, he had herd him too.
Did you make these Hender? I thought.
Of corse. Do you realy think annyone else culd?
Shut up.
I herd Hender laughing up stares. Jesse and I both rolled our eyes.
We wated a few hours so that it was almost ten oclock. Hender then came down stares in dark broun shirt and pants, a black lether vest, and tie-up black lether boots to his knees. His hair was also tied back in a black ridon.
"So, you ready to go Marrion?" He asked calmly."I hope you didn't fill up on sweets I'm going to hunt and cook."
"No I'm still hungry."I said standing up."Um, Hender whats with the lugage?"
"Oh, I gues I'm just so used to you being hear that I forgot to tell you. When I go out that far that late I usualy camp out. It's a tent and sleaping bags and two cots."
"Oh were camping?" I said excidedly."I've never gon camping before."
Hender choked and I knew he was trying not to laugh. I thrugh a pillow and it hit him in the face.
"Okay then Marrion,unless you want to throgh another pillow at my face,come here please." I walked over to him and he handed me a lether strap.I looked at him in question. He sighed and took the belt.He then lifted my arms and pult his arms around my hips.
"Excuse me!" I said wandering what he was doing.
"I'm tieing the belt around you don't worry."He said and I let it drop. He then finished tieing the belt he took out another one.He pult this one over my right arm and under my left making it cross over my chest. He then went behind me and tied it. He then pult something in the belt and came back around to the front and took out a shethed dagar and tied it to the belt around my hips.
"I pult a dagar on your back too." He said verry seriously."Look, I know you find this weard but it is just for protection. I'm a good fighter but I won't be able to protect you if a pack of wolfs get hungry." He then handed me annother shethed dagar already on a small belt."This one goes on your thigh."He explaned."Three dagars shuld be enogh for now, and they are all easy to reach. Just try not to drop them, it could mean your life."
"But I thought vampires wer imortal." I said tieing the belt to my thigh.
"Well Jesse is, because he is a full vampire. You will not age asslong as you drink blood,but you can still get killed by a pack of wolfes." He said getting some thing out of a bag. I realy hoped it wasn't a wepon. He then pulled out a small lether coat with a fur liner.
"Here."He said giving me the coat."It's cold out tonight. Oh and Marrion there's a small dagar in each of your boots."
"What? I didn't see anny dagars." He then knelt doun and opened a flap on both my doots and pulled out two shinny dagers. He pult them back and stood up.
"Ready?"He asked grabing the bags.
"Yep"
We said good night to Jesse and we left. We walked thrugh the forest for about an hour Hender stoping ocasionaly to listen.
"Hender why are we sneeking around?"I wisperd."No one comes here. Every one thinks this forest is haunted."
"Yes I know."He wisperd back."But since I was taken to that zoo people have been coming in hunting for magical cretures. They have brought wepons and cages. A few nights ago I went for a walk and they atacked me with guns and arowes. I got away but they shot me in the sholder. We have to be carefull untill we reach the clearing and I can transform."
"But what if we get seen in your form? Won't you just be a bigger target?"
"Yea, but I'll be on my guard.If you think I'm impressive in my human form you have never seen something impresive." He then turned around and smiled. I smiled back and then we moved on. It took another ten miutes before we came to the clearing.Hender listened intently defore he started to sneek out. His feet made no noise as he walked over dead leaves and twigs, wich was realy weird. He looked around then gave a smile and a thumbs up. He then closed his eyes and transformed.
"Hurry Marrion."he wispered as I ran twords him."Some people are near by and no doubt they saw the light."
Then, sure enough, people with wepons came running into the clearing surounding us.
"Grab on."He said pulting his large tail infront of me. I grabed on and he lifted me up onto his back near his neck. He then leaped straight up into the air and snaped his wings out and pushed doun hard.Within seconds we wer a few feet in the air then arows wer being shot at us Hender swerved trying to get out of the way then he surged up even higher so that the arowes couldn't hit us. He then turned twords the mountans and we wer gon.
"That was close."I said trying to catch my breath,the humidiy was killer.
"Sorry,"He said lowering altitude"And that was not a close call. Those morons wouldn't have hurt me even if an arow had hit.My scales are harder than titanium steal."
"Show off."
We flew for about an hour untill the forest opened up to a sparkleing blue lake with the moon refleckting in it. I looked over Hender and saw our reflection, when I was doing this I saw a large scar wear the arow had been so manny nights ago.
"Hold on." Hender said starting to go down.I held on to his large neck and screemed as he lowerd into the water splashing me with water.Hender then started to slow to a trot laughing. He stoped in the middle of the lake.
"Sorry."He said looking at me over his shoulder."Are you okay?"
"Yes."I said with a smile."Jus pult me down." He then picked me up with his teeth and set me in the water.It came up to my chin and was verry cold.I started to wade to the shore when I got stuck. The water sudenly became extreamly cold, and wen I looked down I realised that it had turned to ice.I herd Hender chucle behind me and I looked back. He was looking at me with a smile on his face.
"Perhaps you should wait a minute." He said then he lifted his large paw and pult it on top of the water. As he touched it the water turned too ice, and within moments he was walking on it, new ice being made with every step. He came tword's me and the ice around me dissapeared.He then lifted me up and placed me on the ice.
"You realy are a show off." I said. He grinned and transformed back to his human form. He was on his knees and his yes wer closed. He oppened his eyes and looked up at me with a smile. I had never seen him smile like that before. It was sad, and yet happy. Soft but alsow strong. It was weird but some how it was more him. He stood up and walked over twords me.
"She used to say the same thing." He said walking past me.
"Who?" I asked without turning twords him.
"My sister."
I just stood there wide eyed. His sister had dissapeared just after the rest of his family was killed. When he was five years old.
I turned twords him and saw that he had stoped.
"You remind me of her." He said his head lowerd. "Thats why I feel more free with you than anny one else." He then terned tword me and my heart started to pound. His long beautifull hair blew in the wind and his magical eyes refleckted the moon light.
He started to walk back twords me and he stoped right infront of me. He pult his arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I was shocked by this suden action and I had a hard time comprehending what was going on.
He was worm. His embrase was a warm blanket shealding me from the cold air. I wraped my arms around him and huged him back. I felt safe in his arms. Like nothing can hurt me when I'm with him. Not my mom, or the bullys at school. School. Wear my friends wer, and my teachers. I missed them. They wer the only people who I could talk to about my problems.
Sudenly Hender's arms went limp and he pulled away from me, his head down. He turned away and walked twords the shore. I wondered why he had turned away.
"Hender?" I asked in wander.
"I'll pult up the tent and build a fire." He said pulting down the bags and un-packing them."Then afterward I'll go hunting for some dinner."
I walked over twords him and onto the ground. He pult the tent up and pult the rest of our bags in it.He came back out with a blanket and a horn.
"Stay by the fire." He instruckted pulting the blanket around me." If anny thing happens blow this horn. I'll be able to hear it. Remember don't drop the knifes." I knodded and took the horn.
Hender left and was gon for a while. I was about to fall asleap wen there was a rustle in the bushes. I stood up and grabed the horn. My new night vision was scanning the aria.
"Hender?" I asked into the darkness. The bushes ruscled again and a grey wolf leaped out. It looked at me and howled. In a few moments twenty more wolfes had joind the first, and they wer crawling twords me ready to atack.
I droped the blanket and reached for the knife on my hip. I drew it and held it up to the wolfes, the silver blade refleckting the fire. Knowing I won't be able to take on an entire pack of wolfes by myself, I pult the horn to my lips and blew. It made a loud bellow and then the wolfes pounced. I held out the knife and slashed at the wolfes, but they wer too fast and I couldn't hit. I edged closer to the fire. The wolfes surounded me and I was wandering wear Hender was. I blew the horn again as a wolf pounced at me. The wolf was sudenly throughn away from me and I looked up to see Hender rolling onto his feet.
He drew his knife and steped infront of me. The wolfes wer surounding us and we wer greatly out numberd.
"Are you hurt?" He asked me.
"No." I answerd." You got here just in time."
The wolfes wer getting closer and wer getting ready to pounce.
"Marrion," Hender said, bending his knees." I'll make a path and you get to the tent. You'll be safer there than anny wear else."
"But Hender, what about you?" I asked horofied at the thought that Hender culd get hurt protecting me.
"I'll be fine. Are you ready?"
I knodded and got ready to run. Hender then leaped out at the wolfes and started to slash them back. At the first sign of an opening I ran. Hender hoped in front of me and took out the wolf that had tried to intercept me. He then fell back and held them off. I reached the tent and I turned to see the wolfes all leaping at Hender, biteing at his arms and legs. Hender was slashing at them with his knife, but whenever he hit one another would pounce on him from behind. Two wolfes bitt his leg and pulled, making him fall to the ground. The wolfes started pileing on top of him. He kept fighting but he couldn't take all of them at once. I drew my other knife and ran to healp him. One of the wolves saw me and atacked.
I slashed at it but missed. It bit my leg and pulled me to the ground. It jumped on me and started to bight at my neck. I blocked it's jaws with my knife but it didn't do mutch. Sudenly Hender jumped at the wolf knocking it off of me.
"I told you to stay in the tent!" He yelled stabing the wolf.
"You couldn't take all of them on your own." I said getting on my feet." I had to help."
"Just stay behind me!"
He glared at me, and I winced. His eyes wer so cold, so angry. Had I scared him?
Hender then turned back to the wolfes. They were closing in. Hender closed his eyes and started to glow. I steped back, a presure so fierce that it allmost knocked me down. The wolves also backed away. Hender opened his eyes, and they wer glowing a sea green. The wolves yelped and ran, scared of the creature they had atacked.
Hender simmerd down and his eyes went back to normal. I walked tword him, stuned at what happened. He turned to me, and again I steped back when I saw the anger in his eyes. He walked up to me and grabed my arm, pulting his face in mine.
"What wer you thinking!?" He he yelled." You culd have been killed!"
"I....I'm sorry." I stuttered starting to cry.
Hender let go of my arm, letting me colaps to the ground. He walked over to the water, his fists clenched.
"No Marrion, don't appologise." He said, pulting his hand over his face." I shouldn't have yelled. You wer trying to healp me, it's just...... I was woried." He came back and colapsed next to me. He got on his hands and knees, and bowed his head. "I'm sorry Marrion." He said. On the ground I saw three drops of water hit the grass. He was crying. I had vever seen Hender cry, and I dont think the boys have either.
I just smiled. I pult my fingers under his chin, and rased his face to me. It was streeked with tears, as pure as crystal. He oppend his eyes, and I almost choked. In his eyes I could see how young he realy was. I could see the pain he had gon thrugh. Tears wer starting in my eyes again. No child, no person this young should have to go thrugh the horrors he's been thrugh.
I smiled again and pulled Hender to my chest. I held him for a long time. I patted his hair and whiped away his tears.
"It's okay Hender." I said pulling him away to look at him. "You don't have to be sorry. I just want you to be happy. I don't ever want you to be scared to cry. You are just a child, and you are forced to act like an adult. You are allways worying about others, and never your self. I want you to feel comfortable around me. I want to know the real Hender."
I then wraped my arms around his waste and huged. He just sat there for a while, before he finaly huged me back. We sat there, in each others arms. After a little while it started to snow.
We looked up at the sky and smiled.
"The first smow fall of winter." Hender said looking at the cressent moon, his beautifull eyes refleckting it's light. He then looked back at me with a smile that could make a monster cry."I'm sorry, Marrion. I didn't find anny food."
"Don't worry about it." I said patting his shoulder." After the wolf atack, I've lost my appiteight."
Hender laughed, and knodded in agreement.
We turned tword the lake, which had turned back to water. I looked over at Hender, and my question sliped.
"Why did you pull away from me?" I asked.
He stared at the water quietly.When I was about to give up on an answer, he spoke.
"I'm sorry." He said, not looking at me.
"Okay, is that your new favorite frase? Or did you do something wrong?" I asked. Wondering what he was sorry for.
"I've kidnaped you."
"What do you mean?"
"You miss your old friends. I'm forcing you to stay away from them."
"Hender, you a** hole!"
I hit him upside the head. He looked at me shocked, like he never imagened that I would hit him.
"You are sutch an idiot!" I yelled, making him jump. "You morron! If I didn't like it here, I would have tryed to run away! I'm not misserable! I'm not lonly! I do miss my old friends, but they are way to normal to like me now! Not to mention, they've been replaced with the best people in the world."
Hender stared at me a little while, before he burst out laughing. I looked at him in shock, that he would laugh at that.
"You had me thinking you wher going to slaughter me!"Hender said leanig on my shoulder. "So Marrion, how are you feeling?"
"In what way?" I asked finnaly getting why he laughed." Can you be more spesific?"
"Does your head hurt? Your stomoch queesy? Dizzy?" He was being verry serious, like some thing was wrong.
"My stomoch's been growling constently today." I said feeling realy hungry." And I am a little dizzy. Why?"
" Come here." He said pulling me to him.
He turned my head from side to side, he checked my throught, he pulled my eyelids up and looked at my eyes. He pult a hand on my forehead, then went quiet.
"It's time." He said standing up. "Come with me."
I stood up and followed him to the tent.
"Time for what?" I asked him.
"Jesse turned you into a half vampire," He explaned. "and it's time for your first feeding."
"What?" I asked. I had totaly forgotten about that. "Okay, um so do I um right now?"
"Yep."
Hender sat on the cot he had set up.I walked over to him, slowly unfolding my wings. I sat on the cot so that we wer levle. Hender tillted his head, burshing his hair to the other side. I then lened over to him and opened my mouth. My lips brushed agenst his skin, and my teeth pirced it. His blood flewed into my mouth, and I drank.
I remembered when I drank his blood after Jesse had turned me. I remembered how thick, and sower it was. But this was different. It was still sower and it tasted horible, but it qenched my undieing thurst. I pulled back after I was no longer hungry. Hender pult his hand on his neck, crymson blood oozed out thrugh his fingers. He winced, and reached unber the cot. He pulled up one of the bags and oppened it. He rummaged in the bag and took out a roll of bandages.
He removed his hand from his neck and took the bandage in it. He started to bandage his nieck but it keped falling before he could finnish.
"Would you like me to healp?" I asked him.
He knodded, blushing. I smiled and took the badegas. I cralled behind him and started bandaging it. His skin was cold and pail, the only collor on him were his eyes and hair. I kut the bandage and tied it. Hender pult his hand back on his neck, and looked down.
"Are you okay Hender?" I asked sitting next to him.
"Yea," He answerd smileing. "I was just remembering when Jesse first fed from me."
"Realy?"
"Yep," He sighed, "I can never forget it, It was just three years after I met Karn. Those two became friends instantly. Before I met you he was sort of my counselar, he allways healped me when I have a hard day. I could almost emagine you two wher siblings, you'r so mutch alike."
He made sort of a short laughe, then looked up at the top of the tent.
"This place allways makes me feel more at home. It's called Crystal-Moon Lake." He then looked at me with a smile." I herd Jesse tell you about Castlidonia, and the door ways to it."
"Yea, I ment to ask you about that."
"Well this lake is one of them."
Okay, that was unexpected.
"What do you mene?"
"I mene, that the lake is one of the entrences."
"Okay I'm still a little lost."
"Come with me."
Hender grabed my wrist and pulled me out of the tent. He took me to the edge of the water. He let go of my hand and ran out on to the water. I blinked, he was walking on water. He went to the middle of the lake and stopped, then, starting at his feet, the water turned to ice. He held out his hand and I walked tword him. I carefully walked on the ice and I grabed Hender's hand. I quicly pulled my self to him, hugging him around the waste. He pult his arm around me and smiled. I looked down and saw the ice turn back to water. I clasped to Hender and wated to fall, but I didn't. The water suported my weight, and sank beneith my feet like sand.
I looked back up at Hender and he smiled. He looked back down and so did I. He waved his hand and the water in front of us started to swerll. Then it started to glow.A picture apeared in the water, as clear as daylight.
The picture was an old town, like ones in feirytales. There wer little cottages, and a market. In the middle of the town was a large pallace, made of white stone. There wer people walking around, shoping in the market place. There wer little kids playing in the square.
All of the people were just as bizzar, and beautifull as Hender, with strange colored hair.
I nearly fell over when I saw a dragon fly across the picture and land. I looked up at Hender. He was smiling, glad to see my expresion.
"Marrion." He said motoning to the picture." This is Castlidonia."
I smilled and looked back at the picture. Castlidonia. I thought. Hender's real home, the place wear he was born, I never emagined that I would see it.
Hender then waved his hand over the water again, and sadly, the picture dissapered. I looked at Hender again and smiled.
"You ready to go to sleep?" He asked, and I knodded.
He picked me up and carryed me to the shore, and into the tent. He layed me down on one of the cots and pulled a blanket up to my chin. He brushed my hair off of my face and sat down next to me.
"This was a wonderfull second date." I said. Hender smiled and brushed my cheek.
"If you can call it that." He said." If you consider, getting atacked by wolfes and having a vampire feed off of you a date."
I laughed.
"It was realy nice Hender, thank you."
"No problem."
He then bent down and kissed my forehead. I wraped my armes around him and huged.
"Good night Hender." I said, ready to sleep.
"Good night Marrion."
He then went over to the other side of the tent and lay down on his cot. I fell asleap almost emediotly, and again I shared Henders dreams.
When I woke up in the morning, I was alone. I sat up and looked around. Hender wasn't in his cot. I got out of bed and ran out side. When I opened the flap I saw that there was a small fire started. I walked out to the edge of the lake and a shadow passed over me. I looked up to see a large fighure flying above the water. It was Hender.
I waved up at him and he started to desend. He landed in the water and trotted to me. He transformed and waded to shore. He got out of the water and wrung his hair out.
"I realy wish I had the power to blow-dry my hair." He commented making me laugh.
"What were you doing up there?" I asked handing him a towel.
"I was just streching my wings." He said." So, Marrion, what say you to a short breakfast and heading back home?"
"That sounds good."
We ate our breakfast, wich consisted of eggs and some sort of meet,maby rbbit, and started to pack up the camp.
"Marrion?"
"Yes"
"You realy are beautifull."
I stared at him surprised by the suden compliment.
"When I showed you Castlidonia last night, the smile on your face made me realise that you wern't a scared, confused, little girl, but a strong, beautifull, woman with a desire for adventure."
"Thank you Hender." I said smileing." But I'm still realy confused."
Hender laghed a bit then turned tword me. Again I nearly cried. He had that same look in his eye, the look that allowed you to see his true fealings.
"Marrion, how would you like to stay annother night out here?" He asked looking at the lake. He seemed sad to leave the lake, he was so close to his home.
I came up behind him and huged him around the waste. I leaned my forehead at the nape of his neck, and sighed into his hair.
"I would love to Hender."
He pult his hand on mine and unwraped my arms. I was surprised that he would back away from me, but he wasn't. He turned around and pult his armes around my waste. He pulled me into a soft embrace and gentaly kissed my lips. I tillted my head and kissed him back. I pult my hands on his chest and slid them up to his shouders. He slid his hand onto my hips, then onto my thigh. He brought his other hand up and lifted my chin.
When he pulled away, and I opened my eyes, I saw that he was crieing. He smiled and looked down. I rased his chin with my hand and I kissed him again. I rased my lips and kissed his cheeks, then each trembaling eyelid.
We both pulled away and started to unpack the lugage.
After we finished unpacking we sat by the lake, watching the snow fall.
"Marrion?"
"Yes Hender."
"I.....I think I'm falling in love with you."
I leaned on his sholder and sighed. He pult his arm on my waste and turned tword me. I lifted my head and looked into his eyes. He kissed me again and he wouldn't pull away. I met his kiss and pult my hands on his chest. He pult his hands on my back and pulled me closer. We pulled away and I layed my head on his chest, closing my eyes.
"I love you too Hender."
I wanted this moment never to end. I wasn't sure if I realy loved Hender, but.....
After we got our heads out of the clouds Hender decided that it was time I learned to fly. I was a little surprised he chose right then but I had wings and I needed to learn how to use them.
"Okay now..." Hender had turned the lake back into ice and was in his dragon form." Our structure isn't exactly the same but they are similer . Now I want you to run onto the ice and jump when you do open your wings, then push down hard to lift you up into the sky. the rest will come naturally."
Hender showed me twice and then it was my turn. I ran out onto the ice and I jumped up. I unfuraled my wings and pushed down hard. I felt my muscles working as I lifted up into the air. I was flying.
I couldnt keep the joy off of my face. I felt my wings push down hard, and everything else comes esaly.
I was soon joined by Hender. He was smileing and I smiled back. Then I lost balance.and started to fall.
Hender quicly flew under me and I landed on his back.
"I'm hungry." I said planely.
"In what way?" He asked already desending.
"My stomoch's growling and my head hurts."
"Your going to drink me dry, you vampiric pig!" He laghed transforming after he landed. unfortunatly I was still on his back and when he transformed back I fell on him.
"Sorry." I said healping him up.
"It's okay. My falt."
"What did you mean drink you dry."
" I mean that you need alot of blood for a few weeks. To get used to it. Jesse went thrugh the same thing."
"Oh come on!" I wined."I hate the taste of blood. It's sower."
"Only a dragons blood is sower. But you need to feed, or you'll get sick and start to die."
"Joy."
"Come on."
"I really don't want to."
"Ha! Do you think I like having you and Jesse dig sharp fangs into the tender skin on my neck? It hurts. And it takes away my energy. But I don't want you get ill."
We walked to the shore and sat down on the grass. Hender started to move his hair out of the way when I pult my hand on his. He stoped and looked over at me. I lened over and moved his hair, I then lened over more so that I was praticaly on top of him. He was laying on his elbows and I had one hand on his chest. I leaned down and bit. I realised that my wings went limp at my sides, I backed away and looked at him.
"You okay?"
Hender was extreemly pail and looked tired. He needed sleep.
"I'm tired."He answerd."I take back what I said about staying out here I want to go home to the others."
"Okay."I smiled and healped him up. He swayed on his feet and I cought him under the armes.
He stood up strait and smiled. We then repacked everything.
We gathered every thing and Hender turned the lake back to ice. I got on his back and we took off.
We flew for about an hour and we came up to the clearing. I saw two figures doun there. I squinted my eyes to make out Zeth and Karn waving at us. They moved out of the way as Hender landed and transformed back.
"I hope you weren't planning on staying out tonight too." Karn said crossing his armes. "It's a full moon."
"Wow realy?" Hender said."Jeeze I didn't know Marrion had stayed with us a month already."
"It's been three!"Zeth said.
"How time flies."I said.
We all walked back to the house and I was warmly greeted with a hug from Jesse.
"What took you so long?"He asked scratching inbetween my wings. It felt good.
"Oh it was horible Jess." Hender said leening against the wall akting tired and upset."She forced me to sleep in the cot. And she wouldn't stop kissing and bighting me."
"Oh poor Hender!" Karn goined in the joke." That was something strictly between us." He huged Hender tightly and Hender huged back. Zeth, Jesse, and I rolled our eyes.
We were sudenly interuped by a loud knock on the door and the sound of rustleing bushes.
"Open up! This is the police!"
